The location was ideal for what myself and my group of friends wanted. Everything about the hotel was excellent staff, rooms, food, cleanliness no problems at all.
Nothing to dislike
The room was a good size, the bed seemed to be a king size but when you lay on it you realised that it was two single mattresses as one. This wasn't a problem as they were comfortable. The on suite was compact but perfectly usable. We had a room at the front of the house and were concerned about the floodlights which bathed the front of the building when we had arrived as it made the room very bright. But when we had returned from town they had been turned off. Breakfast was good with friendly prompt service. I checked out and they were happy for me to leave the car there all morning while I had a few hours shopping in town.
the room and breakfast and staff
the step up to the shower
Polite and helpful staff / owners
lack of telephone for room service.
nice clean helpful staff very good exsperience
Plenty of parking, and within walking distance of the steam railway. Breakfast was excellent. Good value for the money.
Noise from next door room during the night. Unfortunately, not a lot that the manager can do about this.
The staff were so friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. Good advice from staff on where to go for dinner; we went to the Quorden Fox - excellent.
The lounge downstairs is pleasant but the seating is very uncomfortable. Definitely short stay chairs which is a shame.
only a couple of minutes away from where we needed to be. Plenty of (free) parking.
nearness to the road, will not want a room at the front again.
Handy location, clean, free wifi, and a nice breakfast, everything a businessman requires for an overnight stay at a reasonable price
We had an excellent stay in a lovely clean room with a very large comfy bed. Breakfast was very good in a large, pleasant, airy conservatory. Plenty of off-road parking both in front of the property and at the rear. For the first time ever, I didn't check every nook and cranny when we left and managed to leave my favourite dress and a cardi in the wardrobe. Arrangements were easily made for its safe return. Very impressed,
Nothing I didn't like
Very friendly and helpful, nice and clean lovely breakfast.
Shower had a tendancy to overheat.
Very convenient for Great Central Railway Arrived day of change of management and new staff adapted very well Made to feel welcome
Ground floor bedroom. Ample parking. Quiet at night. Good breakfast - marmelade in a pot. Friendly breakfast staff. Good, competative price.
Couldn`t operate the shower. Bed made up for short people.
friendliness of the staff, room was clean and perfect for myself and my colleague
Fabulous B+B staff couldn't be more helpful, room was comfortable, clean and homely! Would stay there again!
1) Wifi in room did not work 2) Check out time at 1030am. And with someone banging on the door at 10am to remind you to check out at 1030am !
Location for us was probably the only good thing about this place.
Rude and abrasive staff, tiny pokey DUSTY room with 1 window that looked straight into the dining room where a funeral was being held on the first day we were there! Problems with shower 2 days in a row, on first day had to use shower 2 FLOORS above us (after being suggested that we used another guests on the other side of the hotel once they were finished in there). Breakfast is a rip off, almost £7 for a pathetically small cooked breakfast (1 sausage, 2 bits of bacon, 2 tiny mushrooms cut into 4 bits and a smearing of beans). Walls are paper thin, could hear guests in room behind us urinating and showering at gone 1.30am not to mention the extractor fan making a lot of noise! Manageress was unapologetic ACCUSING me of lying about the water in the shower going hot and cold and the pressure going crazy. Maintained that the room was not dirty when the dust was coming off every surface i rubbed my finger on including the head board, GROSS! Argued every point, still charged us £140 for 2 nights, RIP OFF! Do not trust the photos on the website, unfortunately we did but ended up regretting it enormously. The place is VERY dated, quite grubby, over priced and the staff are rude and arrogant.
The staff dealt with my sons allergies fantastically and made him feel very much at home. They opened the bar for my husband even though it was only him drinking, they always had a smile and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We will definitely be going back, it was a lovely stay
The staff (kitchen staff especially) were really helpful. They couldn't do enough for us.
Prob bad timing on my part but we arrived as a wake was taking place and staff walked us right through it. (Which we later realised that could have been avoided by using a different entrance)
condition of room. good parking facilities staff service and attitude
no cause for concern
no bad faults, comfortable, welcoming, helpful and good breakfast.will use again and recommend if asked.
side table lights not working.
Not a very warm welcome felt like we more a hinderence than a guest.i work in travel and a smile makes all the difference to a guest.
Within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Very clean
Wifi was poor
The bed although a standard double was comfortable. Security was good, no access to the guest house without a key. Good parking facilities.
Very small bedroom, carpet required a good vacuum, the en-suite was the size of a downstairs toilet in a small semi and very 'snug' unable to control the heat of water in the shower, so rather hot to the point of scolding! although shower gel etc were supplied! It was the last room available when I booked it but I would have described it as a single room rather than a double, it was certainly not representative of the picture gallery shown on the website and didn't meet my expectations having read previous reviews about the establishment!
room was clean and looked recently decorated
duvet and sheet a bit on the small side, could only just pull the duvet over both of us
