Views of the lawn from bedroom. Good room service. No hot water on arrival. Brown water then coming from tap. Had changed room by phone but reception staff didn't know and it hadn't been updated on computer.Poor service at breakfast E.G. table set for dinner so had to be altered. Had to ask for cups and saucers, butter etc.Was there for a birthday party who had organised a special rate. Staff knew that I was attending and didn't tell me so I paid more than I should have.

The location of the hotel is excellent for exploring the local area, both for the town and countryside and its tourist attractions. The Hotel staff are all very professional and helpful. The Hotel's decor and furniture throughout is very 'tired' and can do with modernising. Whilst the grounds are vast this too could do with some housekeeping in order to enjoy the facility - All too overgrown by the river.

The Chase was a very nice hotel, good breakfast and service. quiet. Proximity to local amenities was excellent. Nice room and soaps etc provided. It was not so much what I didn't like but the description of room for the price. The room was supposed to be a superior double but there was nothing superior about it compared to other double rooms I have stayed in for less cost. on the surface the room looked very clean but as I have a cleaning business I tend to look at the nitty gritty, which showed up some items not so clean, cobwebs under sink and drips from previous guests all run down underneath. Bathroom could have done with an upgrade to be classed as superior. Maybe just me but expected more for my money.

Lovely grounds and close enough to the centre to leave the car and walk. We had a lounge meal in the evening which was really lovely. The bed was a bit too hard for us and so we did not sleep that well.

Very small room for the xtra price we paid for superior type. breakfast cooked / served portions were tiny ie 1 item of each only ? why cant guessed serve themselves like other hotels Dining room tables far too close together. could not discuss anything over dinner for being overheard by next table occupants. ie not confidential / private , train your staff to seat groups of guests around the room . We felt uncomfortable and paid a considerable amount for it. Not good value.

The only thing my husband and I did like was the lovely wooden staircase at the foyer of the hotel We were sadly disappointed by the standard of the superior double room that we were apparently assigned. This is what we would have expected as a standard for the price paid. And whilst the staff were certainly professional, all lacked a measure of warmth and hospitality.Sadly we will not be coming here again as the overall experience was disappointing.

Excellent accommodation with ample parking set in parkland some 5 min walk from town centre. Comfortable clean well appointed rooms representing good value for money.Waiter service at breakfast from a quality menu was a real treat. The absence of a lift could present a real problem for those with disabilities.

The breakfast was excellent. The furnishings were good quality and undamaged We booked a "superior double room but we did not consider it really a "superior room. It was small and did not even have an armchair. There was a small chair squeezed in the corner. There were a couple of drawers in the dressing table but otherwise no cupboard. The bathroom was also good quality but had only a ?half or 3/4 length bath. When I went to reception to ask why this was considered a "superior room" I was told it was because we had a view out over the garden and not an internal view. I don't consider that adequate. Sadly walls / ceiling were thin and when the upstairs occupants came in there was noise at 11.30 and again at 6.30am which was not what we wanted on a weekewnd away. As this was a birthday celebration I wouold have expected at least spacious accommodation. Otherwise it was an excellent hotel in a wonderful location.

Good area good location Cooked breackfast no display of what they had only served by staff who were not there half the time, got very upset if customers tried to serve themselves, which is the normal practice, they say it was health and safety! Dishes were luke warm cloches were not hot or dangerous, cereal plates and fruit juice plates not cleared away until meal finished causing cluttering of small tables, Juice and fruit cabinet difficult to access which could be a safety issue Having an automatic toaster would savo on labour plus reduce waste, orders for two pieces were doubled two days running. Superior twin room was only very average what the standard rooms were like?
