Fair location for new Hepworth gallery and Sculpture park.Staff friendly when available. Noisy at night some sort of generator. Breakfast not staffed very well and not all on menu available for continental breakfast. Really needs updating like walking into the sixties. Getting to hotel difficult on one way system so a map would be useful from the hotel.

The staff Low calibre guests had done damage. The sort of people who had stayed there had not shown the respect due for the facilities. The hotel had probably compared the cost of renewal and the potential for vandalism and not found it cost effective to renew. I feel sorry for the hotel staff to work with the minority who have spoiled what could be a nice hotel.

A convenient city centre hotel with free parking. Friendly reception. This is a rather tired hotel that has seen better days. My expectations were not high but I was disappointed to find a wash basin that would not drain properly and, two cups for tea but only one saucer.

Location - in city centre, 5 mins walk from main train station. On hill with good views. Free parking if you have a car. Coffee and tea making facilities but sign says they do not recommend using tap water! New TV but limited choice - you need to ask reception for a remote control and pay a refundable £10 deposit - a sign on the TV would be helpful! Also you can obtain a hairdryer from recpetion. Bathroom clean - appears to have been renovated. Good price £40/night. Dated 60's style building. No individual comfort heating or cooling. No fridge. No drinking water - you had to shop for this, though shops near. Lift appears very old with no indicator lights for floors/direction etc. Door and lock stiff. Door lightweight - could hear conversations in corridor. Next time, if I travel by car, would probably choose Holiday Inn etc - but further away and more expensive.

The room was a reasonable size and had good views. It was very handy for the station, shops, pubs and restaurants. The bar area appeared pleasant. This hotel is quite cheap and popular with contractors. The breakfast was reasonable for £5. Most of the public areas are tatty, eg wallpaper coming off walls, paint and plaster peeling off and the doors to bedrooms look as if they have been kicked / knocked removing patches of paint. The lift was dirty and battered; the reception area depressing and uninviting. In my room the bedside shelves were falling off the walls. The place gave me the impression of being a DSS hostel, although once in my bedroom it wasn't too bad. This was obviously a better hotel in former years and needs a wholesale makeover / refurbishment. TV's 'The Hotel Inspector' would have a great deal to say!!!! I wanted a decent hotel in the city centre but this was downmarket and delapidated.

Easy access to city centre 1 Sink blocked but as we were there only one night did not bother to report it. however it was full of dirty water when we arrived and the room services staff could not have failed to notice it when they cleaned the bathroom and could have reported it themselves before we arrived.. Room was very 'tired' looking but at that price!.2 Car park very tight

Clean room, adequate size, two single beds joined together, tea/coffee making facilities, very warm shower, fantastic location, nice entrance foyer and bar area. Perhaps a little shabby, walls are quite thin, although it is in a quiet area, lift a little outdated.

Location good for trips to the city, comfortable bed, receptionist quite helpful. Cleaning standards shouldn't reflect the price you pay. Paying £30 I obviously didn't expect anything near luxury but I certainly expect a clean, well maintained room as a minimum. Dust everywhere, room smelt strongly of smoke, carpet very stained, hair in bathroom. Not good enough I'm afraid!

Grubby hotel room, dirty stained duvets, thin walls you could hear the person moving clearly either side of the room. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to my worst enemy, you are better if giving this one a wide berth! Cheap for a reason, only stayed here as a last minute resort (couldn't book anywhere else in time)

Town centre location.....Exactly what I needed. Could do with a general clean-up, looking tired and a bit scruffy and small things like, light bulbs need replacing, shaver lights not working, no cold water on the sink, no tea bags in tea making facility, caster missing off bed. All small things, but it's the small things that matter.

Typical city centre hotel that has seen better days but rooms still to a very good standard and very clean. Certainly excellent value for the money paid and location in the city centre ideal for what we needed to do. Breakfast was cleared away 30 minutes before the time advertised in the hotel handbook.

Cotton sheets, clean bathroom, good shower, soap and shampoo, tea making facilities. All you need for a stay. Hotel was quiet and the 3rd floor had great views over the area. Not really a complaint about the hotel itself just the price. I stayed there last year and got a single room for £28. This year it was £40 and my friends, a couple paid £45. I am careful now about where I book as a single person and tend to be able to find single rooms at a reasonable price. I think all hotels need to have a more realistic attitude to single people as there are more of us. I would therefore think twice about staying here on cost alone. It would not stop me recommending it to couples.

the Hotel staff were very approachable and helpful. However the state of the hotel leaves alot to be desired, It needs a complete refurbishment and as the saying Shabby Chic is more like Shabby Shabby, and more Shabby and would not use the hotel again nor recommend it to anyone. I think you need to vet these hotels more closely before accepting them onto your website
