Surrounded by beautiful South Downs hills, the pretty gardens of this converted Tudor house are secluded by tall trees.
Score from 410 reviews Fabulous
The staff were very understanding and helpful, and after we complained about the noise they quickly found us a new room that was fine.
We had very noisy neighbours who didn't get in until the early hours. 5 am, and continued to talk until at least 06.30, even though we complained several times.
Good breakfast. Served to your table and not the usual do-it-yourself buffet. Comfortable, clean and friendly staff.
Traffic noise, but that's not the hotels fault.
Looks impressive from outside Convenient location
Lack of double glazing makes sleep without ear plugs very difficult (main road) Tired and old fashioned décor Breakfast fairly basic
Breakfast was nice, dinning room setting nice
Heat in hotel was shocking, service by staff was poor, very unhelpful, poor quality bar, staff unapproachable, no hospitality at all
Location Size of room
Tired hotel in need of uograding Ridiculously hot and no way of cooling down even with the windows open as far as they'd go (making it noisy to sleep on a Sat night)
Just on the seaside overlooking a park. Very close to shops and restaurangs and the Pier. Very friendly staff, good breakfast and a rather big restaurant with excellent service and good food. Very well maintained facilities.
The location could not be better for what we wanted. Close to the sea front, shops, restaurants and bars. It is a super place for people to relax and do whatever you want to do. Fabulous breakfast, one of the best I have had.
The hotel is a little dated and could do with some extra TLC and refurbishment.
Good value for money, breakfast and restaurant staff very good.
Room too hot even with rads off. Yes we did open the window but the traffic zooming past under it did not help.
Spacious and comfortable rooms Wifi Room Service
hotel staff very polite.nice and warm in bedroom.and the breakfast was really nice hot and plenty to eat and what a choice
toilet to close to the bath.husband had problem with leg space.
Staff were very good and friendly.
blankets and bedspread?! In todays modern age...if they turned the heating down 3 degrees it would pay for duvets! Roof 125 should be avoided at all costs as there is a constant noise from air con fans outside!
Location and price. comfortable rooms. nice breakfast.
A little old fashionsed and small rooms, can hear the activites in the hall, wake up calls etc.
Convenient position with parking outside
Card was swiped & pre charged, but I wanted to pay in cash. This meant I would have to contact my bank to release the funds.
nice room with sea view
no heating in bedroom or in bathroom, very cold night and day,we came home early they wouldn't turn it on........very disappointed.
I liked the breakfast and the cost of the one night stay.
The room was very poor smelt fusty and the gaps in the windows was terrible and they rattled all night, I was awake every hour. I chose this hotel as I had to travel 3.5 hours for a meeting and wanted to feel great but no joy.
Rattling windows while trying to sleep
I booked this hotel because I had made many visits to Worthing to visit friends on a nearby road. The sea and the Steyne add to the country-like atmosphere. The whole experience was up to my and my two grown daughter's expectations. I would certainly recommend this hotel to any one who wished to explore the channel coast and the surrounding towns and villages.
Everything was fine for us.
Size of room, cost of drinks and library.
Awful breakfast, very limited choice. Staff slow to clear tables, chaotic seating arrangement. Upper floor rooms not easy to access and uneven flooring a problem. Very few extras in room eg Why no fridge or stationary?
Lovely breakfast in nice dining room. The location was excellent and the room had everything you needed for a short break
The hotel was a little old fashioned and in need of updating decor wise
The breakfast was great
The noise from the buses and the person upstairs during a marathon at 7.00
Excellent location , good service, clean and good value for money
My room overlooked the bus station which as it was a hot night and I slept with the window open was quite noisy early on Sunday morning. Lack of parking unless your lucky enough to get a parking meter which is expensive.
Breakfast was lovely, the location in terms of town centre and sea front is amazing. Most of the staff seemed friendly and helpful.
The rooms are small, the first room we had at the back of the hotel over looked what seemed to be a car park but turned out to be a bus depot so we were woken early with the beeping of buses reversing and the reving of them coming and going. The bathroom was an odd shape and my husband could not get his head under the shower he is only 6ft. We also received a very unwelcome wake up call at 6.45am. after complaining about the lack of sleep we were moved to a nicer and much quieter room at the front of the building.
Very close to the sea front and the pier. Lots of nice restaurants on the sea front. The hotel staff were very accomodating and the hotel cleaners were visible at all times. Nice views of Steyne Gardens. Parking hard to find but reasonable at £3.50 for the whole day, or £2.50 from 12pm - 9am (half day).
This hotel was right by a bus station and windows were single glazed. Noise started from very early. Rooms were tiny and beds were small also. Breakfast (if not included in your room rate) costs £13.50 for full English. Overpriced, small and disapointing.
The layout and decor of the hotel reflects its 200yr old status and gave it character. Rooms were a good size and the breakfast was very tasty. If you want a modern, bland hotel then do not stay here.
Close to sea front
Room being six inches taller one end than the other made us feel dizzy every time we went to the bathroom. Window didnt lock shut. Large damp patch above bed. Very dated
