The best B&B I have ever stayed at and shall definitely be returning. The staff were lovely and very helpful, the rooms bright and airy with a modern classic design and the whole house was clean and beautifully decorated. The location was great for getting into Cheltenham city centre.

This is our 2nd visit & sorry to say this time it was very disappointing & I am sorry to leave this review. Our first stay last year was amazing 10/10 which I have left a very positive review with photos. We stayed for two nights in June to attend the Wychwood festival. Room also suffered from hearing footsteps from above, think we might have been below the breakfast room so got woken up very early every morning. Could also hear people in room next door & in the hall way. On the positive side the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is very well situated and only a short walk to the city centre or the racecourse. Our check in experience by a young lady was ok, nothing like last time when we were made to feel special & welcome & shown around the hotels breakfast room, honest bar, parking facilities & given local information on the area etc... this may be because she had a poorly leg. She did however walk us down to basement to show us our room. Yes the room was small & disappointing with a view of the car park, but we didn't come to Cheltenham to sit in our room gazing out the window. The building itself is beautiful, furnished, decorated and maintained to a high standard. Particularly liked the lounge, complete with big squashy sofas & the honesty bar (nice touch). There is also a lovely seating area out the back which is a real sun trap and lovely to enjoy a drink in the sun. The breakfast room is a nice airy room but, as it is not big enough to accommodate all guests when the hotel is full, you may need to relax in the lounge for a while if you arrive at the busy time. I do feel bad for writing this review and wish I had not stayed in room 19 and this has really made me think twice about staying at the Townhouse again. First experience was fantastic 10/10, 2nd experience 5/10. Guess 3rd time might be lucky. I am just amazed for the price the difference in rooms they offer. Guess its all down to the room you stay in, last time we had a massive room in main hotel on ground level. This time we had (room 19) in the basement (which they call a garden room), this was below street level with views looking up to the car park. The room was very small & the bathroom was split into two tiny spaces (cupboards), one for the loo & washing basin and the other for a tiny shower (no bath), no shelves to put anything on. I hate small confined spaces & this really did feel like you were shut in a cupboard.

+ I loved the room, it was very nicely presented and facilitated. + The hotel was quiet and relaxing to be in. + Very close to the city centre. + Had a small terrace which was great when it was sunny. + I was allowed to use facilities even after I checked out. + I was able to leave my luggage in the hotel after I checked out and return to pick it up. + They had a nice lounge area with a self service bar serving a wide range of drinks. + Breakfast was delicious. + Very friendly staff. - The room could have done with a desk, even if it was just a small one. Though to be fair I didn't find out if one could be provided upon request.

The initial impression as I approached the front of the property was of a good choice, the height of Cheltenham elegance. On entry I was not disappointed, the entrance hall, lounge and dining room were immaculate and welcoming. I was visiting with my mother and was immediately offered a twin room instead of the double I had booked. The full bar on offer was a lovely touch you served yourself and were trusted to note down what you had consumed so this could be added to your bill. A very nice touch and one we made use of taking a glass of Sauvignon blanc onto the small sunny terrace that adjoined reception. All the staff were extremely pleasant, efficient and helpful. Our room on the second floor, accessed by lift, was comfortable and decorated in soothing neutral colours. The hotel is situated in a peaceful tree lined road (gated at one end) surrounded by similar properties.

Beautifully renovated historical building with very helpful staff and gourmet breakfast in a attractive Georgian styled dining room with starched linen tablecloths. Excellent. A short walk to the city centre, park and restaurants. Because of age of building, rooms are not large and bathroom was quite small. Accommodation was comfortable though.

Near city centre , good off street parking. The pillows were terrible the bed collapsed bottom corner, the heater you couldn't turn off so was really hot. The shower stand came out off the wall. The place needs some upkeep.

Lovely location in a beautiful part of Cheltenham. Walking distance of shops and other facilities. Park facilities. Lovely building which is well maintained. Rooms was excellent size and well decorated. Lovely restaurant with a great breakfast. Reception room with honest bar is lovely. Very helpful staff. We hired bikes which where free of charge. Excellent value for money. The room (No. 18) could have had some strong ceiling and side lights. A shelf or something like that in the bathroom would have been useful as there was nowhere to put our toiletries. Hooks to hang towels in the bathroom would have been helpful.

Everything. As a seasoned business traveller, I have rarely stayed in a more welcoming, comfortable hotel. They suggested a restaurant 5mins walk away that I thoroughly enjoyed, with a 10% discount because I was staying at the hotel! Lovely bedding made for a good nights sleep, followed by my favourite breakfast which was actually on the menu! Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast. Will definitely return.
