The room was lovely and spacious
On arrival at 2pm was told that the rooms were not ready no apology even though check in was 2 pm and the receptionist was not overly rude but stern with how she spoke not friendly at all. The room was nice although the bathroom ceiling had lots of flaky paint on it that could do with resolving
The largeness of the room and the comfort xx
No breakfast unless you paid extra xxx
room was very comfortable and close to facilities
nothing it was a very nice stay
Easy to find, plenty of parking, very pleasant & helpful staff, room clean, comfy & well equipped, convenient for the town centre.
Beds staff food all good
I am disabled and there where too many stairs. It needs a lift installed
Very poor service we were given a voucher by the hotel to us at the bistro but unable to use it as they were not doing food, also very poor breakfast were not cooking fried eggs, but a person on our table had two fried eggs.
Very good location to Newbury, excellent food, very good staff, hotel very clean. Would stay again.
Hotel starting to show it's age.
Location was good for a town hotel, the staff were OK but not sparkling, they did the basics right. Room was as expected, bed OK
Too expensive for what it is £100 for a basic pub B&B. Corridors are horrible, having looked at reviews it's been this way for a while, even had a poster stating they were under decoration? Breakfast was over cooked and check out took longer than anticipated.
The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable
We were unable to eat in the restaurant
Staff were pleasant & helpful. We were advised to request room at back of hotel as quiet there which it was. Nice fluffy white towels, good supply of teabags, coffee etc & toiletries. Very good breakfast!
Needs some serious money spent on renovating the outside
Conveniently situated close to the town centre shops and pubs. Friendly staff, and value for money. Good value offer in the restaurant which we took advantage of and were not disappointed.
The room was way too hot, even with the radiators turned off and the window open, in what was a fairly cold spell of weather. The room was clean in the parts that mattered but at some point could do with a deep clean.
location was good. "full English breakfast" was great quality but very tiny. (happened to be enough though) room size was very good. wifi was free but...
the whole place, other than bar, was very tired. carpets, walls, facilities tired. wifi was free but very low signal
The room was just fascinating. got a room with a double bed. Big windows, lots of light. The comfort which we needed after a long trip.
Old quaint building, don't expect ultra modern
Friendliness of staff and convenience of location.
Bathroom perhaps needed redecoration?
The food was excellent and well priced
Uncomfortable matress and noise overhead.
Clean, if a little tired, basic accommodation. Quiet and perfectly OK Motel-style courtyard accommodation. Bed adequate. Glad of openable hopper windows. All in order, pleasant staff, reception rooms calm, open and relatively updated decor, style unfussy.
Accidentally over-salted scrambled eggs! Ambience slightly deflated - emptiness attributable perhaps to winter Friday night? These are minor observations in the otherwise pleasant scheme of things.
Great value. Easily accessible (being just a couple of minutes off the A34 and easy to find) and with plenty of free parking. Town centre with all its great shops just a few steps from the hotel entrance.Quick, effortless check-in. Nice size room with comfy bed, excellent heat control, nice toiletries, good selection on tea tray, good hairdryer. Very pleasant "thank-you for staying" follow-up e-mail from the hotel reservations team.
Hard to find fault, but the corridor to our room (309) was a bit tatty, which gave a slightly underwhelming first impression.
The room was large and quiet. Coffee maker a real bonus.
I would have preferred a firmer mattress but the one provided was adequate. I think "didn't like" is too negative though. I did like my stay and would return.
location to town centre plus free parking and wifi access.
The bed was very hard with no topper to soften it so didn't get a good sleep. This was further exacerbated by all the smokers standing chatting in the car park outside my window. Although the room was a good size the bathroom floor had seen better days plus was very slippy when wet so when I stood on the bath mat I ended up falling over and banging myself against a scalding hot towel rail. Luckily I only ended up winded with bruises but I can imagine an older person breaking a bone or two. It appears there has been some money spent on upgrading the furnishings in the hotel but further work needs to be done.
The value for money is excellent, very comfy, cosy room and lovely decor. We didn't eat at the hotel.
We got a phone call from reception reminding us that check out is at 11am, this call was at 10.58, I didn't appreciate this. I think most hotels understand that leisure guests sometimes may not be out in a strictly timely manner, didn't housekeeping have anything else to do?
The bathrooms that are not in the main hotel are as good as the others.
location in relation to business venue Room was excellent Male member of staff on reception friendly, polite and very helpful
Difficult in understanding waitress due to accent, and very quietly spoken.
Location Room - large and comfortable Good qualitytoiletries in bathroom Towel - large and soft Tea tray with biscuits
Phone didn't work Hairdryer had a cut out which meant it took forever to dry my hair
Loved our room
