Warm welcome. Very pleasant waitress. Good parking. Nice room. Four poster very comfortable for husband. All meals lovely
Mattress on double four poster bed much too hard for me. Actually had booked a king size bed
Very friendly host and staff, lovely site, comfortable, relaxing stay.
Slightly eccentric showers at times, but hotel is so old, so not easy to adapt, very minor matter.
We're into the third week of our trip in UK and this B&B has been the best so far in every area. Our room (#2) was excellent. Upstairs, just recently renovated, it was extra spacious, clean, with a great bed, huge TV, en-suite though smallish, was new and immaculate with excellent facilities so well laid out, that it did not feel at all small. And then there was the food both for dinner and breakfast. Again, excellent As a breakfast it had one of the best selections. Private parking off the road. Inside, the lounge etc. rooms were just beautiful. Garden not overly large and would have been a great place to have a drink. Alas, it was bit too cold, but we still had a decent look around. Just a great B&B all around.
The only issue was that this room is over the bar/breakfast area. In itself this was NO problem (at least when we stayed). It was very quiet in our room. But the owner didn't know that at over a certain volume the TV/radio playing downstairs kind of seeped into the upstairs room. Not loudly, but it might be annoying to some. We mentioned it to the owner and if he cuts the TV volume down, as I did it the next morning to see, the sound intrusion immediately disappears. Otherwise it IS a near perfect B&B.
Friendly welcome, helpful Staff, Comfortable room which was very clean with a modern en-suite shower. Lots of information concerning the hotel is on hand, including local walks etc. Dining in the restaurant outstanding, with locally sourced food. Pleasing ambiance. The hotel's location make it suitable for both business and leisure users.
The food was excellent and all freshly cooked. The small lounge with an open fire gave a welcome after a long drive Cask ale on the bar
Loved the warm welcome and real log fire - the atmosphere was so relaxing. The meals were good especially breakfast. Comfortable stay
no complaints -
This hotel is a real find - - a proper home away from home ! The owners and staff and genuinely friendly. The food is delicious - most of it home made and served beautifully. The decor is delightful. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Real value for money. Nothing to fault it at all. We recommend this hotel highly and will stay there again next time we are visiting that area.
All of it was fabulous - nothing to "not like" at all.
Staff friendly and helpful. Food good.
Room hot and stuffy. Very noisy from traffic. On a very busy road. Lorries passing from about 5 in the morning.
Food was excellent both breakfast and dinner
Room 3 was a little small
ambience, friendly staff, comfortable room, good food
packet cereals at breakfast
We liked everything , the room was very comfortable, and the food was excellent. .
Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Food is excellent and freshly cooked to order. A beautiful little hotel my little bit of luxury.
Its position, its friendliness, and our Room was great where it was easy to relax. The food was of high standard too !
Food was maybe a little expensive and the shower was basic and cramped.
The hotel room and ensuite bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The staff were also friendly and happily accommodated my bedding requirements (I have an allergy to down). I would be quite likely to stay here again if I was looking for a B&B in this area again.
There weren't many aspects of this hotel that I didn't like but the nearby church does chime every hour throughout the night - fortunately not loudly enough to keep me awake.
Friendly & obliging staff. Hearty Breakfast. Relaxing Venue. Very comfortable Room.

Fresh, local food. Lovely staff. Still a renovation in progress !
Noisy room ,unmodernised on main road ,broken sash windows ,very hot.
We received a warm welcome. Staff and atmosphere was homely, relaxing and comfortable and food of a very high quality. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definately will be here again.
Our bedroom was hard on the A29 so therefore traffic noise was a tad much at times.
Good food in restaurant overlooking pretty garden.
Room was next to busy main road so could not keep windows open at night. No air conditioning, fortunately there was a ceiling fan.
Very helpful owners & staff Food excellent Comfortable room Pretty garden to sit in Countryside views
Everything! This was our third stay at Chequers and the quality of the accommodation and food hasn't changed since our first visit. Excellent value and lovely peaceful yet convenient location.
