The only thing I liked about the hotel is that it was located really close to the venue. Run down room. In urgent need for a complete refurbishment. The breakfast was horrible. I don´t recommend staying there unless you like adventures.

Despite booking a twin bedded room and telephoning to confirm that we had one, when we checked in we found that our room had been given to someone else, obviously for financial reasons. The proprietor was very pleasant but we will not be staying there again

Lack of staircase: room was on similar level to check-in desk. Freedom from traffic warden pestering. Obliging and pleasant staff. Immediate hot water in bedroom. Dismal lighting in bedroom, bar and eating areas.

The Location We checked in at around 6.30 P.M. were given the key and when we unlocked the door we were greeted by dirty cups and cartons etc. and the beds had not been made. We were then offered another room. We had to leave at around 6.00 A.M. to go to the airport so we asked if we could have something light for breakfast and were told by the proprietor that breakfast was complementary and that breakfast did not start until 7.00 A.M. Not at all helpful. The breakfast room was laid out with cereals etc. but he had that locked until 7.00 A.M. Even if we had been offered a cup of tea and a roll or biscuit it would have been better than nothing. .

The reception was chaotic and didn't have any record of my booking for 2 single and 1 double room, which I made on the internet and was confirmed about 3 months ago. However we were all found a bedroom. The staff were generally friendly and helpful

The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good, could have done with some sausages for the full english. The arrangements for getting back into the hotel after the same had closed was good. The fact that they had no knowledge of our booking although this was made on 14 July (and paid for on 28 July) for an event in August! Consequently our room reflected this!!!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful The room we stayed in was very different from the one shown on the website, definitely not as cosy and lighty, even if clean. Good for backpackers and budget travellers. However, I think the room picture on the website should be changed as it does not correspond to the accommodation offered.

Pleasant room, very clean. Lots of really hot water for bath. Hotel is in pleasant setting and is an interesting building. The staff were friendly, very willing and unobtrusive.Cooked breakfasts were well presented and were brought to table very promptly. The area for the self service part of the breakfast is a bit cramped.

Excellent location, convenient for shops and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable and the evening meal was good value. There were no tea / coffee making facilities in the room and the cooked breakfast didn't include a sausage.

Family lounge area The rooms were not very clean. Duvets were very dirty and stained and were only covered with a sheet. The beds were too soft and creaked. The lighting in the bathroom was very dingy. The cooked breakfast was ok but only orange juice - no other choices. the coffee was cold. No fruit on offer. I would have expected more for the price that I paid.

The hotel was old and traditional but had good qualities such as a very good size double bedroom with very adequate furniture, providing a rather nice 4 poster bed. The staff were polite and the service was good. We stayed two nights bed and breakfast and I was very happy with a generous breakfast. The dining room, whilst spacious lacked adequate lighting over the area where the cereals and beverages were provided, and possibly the bathroom could have done with slightly better lighting.

we checked in was given a key and told nothing,so after finding our room which came out of the ark we went down to the bar for lunch.staff were friendly and food was good, so no problem there.the lighting in the room was virtually non existent. No kidding i dont think anything had been done since 1968. We went to a wedding reception in the evening, and on our return could not get in, after about 5 mins a child hung out of the window and told us to go around the back and up the fire escape.breakfast wasnt worth getting up for. This was trully the worst hotel i have been to.Appauling for the money.

“Restaurant was excellent both in style and menu. Main courses for the two evening meals were delicious - the venison cut like butter and the taste was superb. We all enjoyed the jak posters throughout the hotel and the dining rooms had character. Reception and ?manager (Chris) went out of their way to make our stay run smoothly and we all enjoyed the weekend. ” Diana, Walton On Thames |
