Food in the restaurant was good and the Coffee at breakfast was also good. Hotel needed a good deep clean, our floor had not been vacuumed in long while, mold on bathroom wall, broken shower head, no bed lights, no bedside cabinet, poor pillows, and towels. Restaurant offered a £35 meal for two that was well advertised out front of hotel but was not available in the restaurant. Overall the hotel is odd and I could not recommend anyone to stay there.

Comfortable clean rooms, best tv we've ever had, and we were given en-suite rooms when we weren't expecting them at no extra expense. The parking wasn't the best, as access was awkward from the main road, and parking spaces were narrow.

It was a quaint little inn which is the type we like. Meals at night were excellent. No complaints about the room Bed very comfy fell asleep as soon as head hit the pillow. Not much really, it was only rated 2 star and it was better than we expected, staff need training on pulling beer.

Listed building which has an attractive facade. When we first arrived we were given a twin room not a double as originally requested. We also asked if it was possible to have breakfast early. Not only did the staff refuse but they got the breakfast times wrong. The decor was dated. The carpet in the corridor looked like the one in my grandparents house. The next morning when we tried to leave early the doors were locked and no-one around to speak to. Breakfast was limited to cold toast (end crusts) and cereal. When we checked out the manager asked to pay by cash only, so he could pay his staff, and directed us to the cash machine outside Tescos up the road. He then went on to blame the Chancellor of the Exchequer for fall in trade. I didn't have the heart to tell him the real reason.

Good size room & en-suite, comfortable bed, big TV,quiet & able to park outside on the road easily. Despite my concerns, what do you expect for £35.00 a night? I was asked to pay as soon as I arrived, not a problem however when I produced a card, the guy asked if I could withdraw the cash from the cash machine over the road! Very dated inside, no bin in my room, there was a chair that I nearly tripped over when I first entered the room. All plugs were out of their sockets so I had to plug them all in to use the applicances. Breakfast was interesting, mentioned a continental breakfast on the website, no sign of any croissants etc, only cereal & toast. No choice of either brown or white toast, was given white with the end slices too! I generally got the feeling everything was on a budget, someone was keeping costs to a bare minimum in this place! I will not be visiting again - thank you!

It was like staying at Faulty Towers! No heating, no housekeeping, no cooked breakfast just cereal and cardboard white toast! It was as basic as I have ever seen, it was like being in the barn from the nativity scene! We laughed and laughed about it but we would not stay there again! Shower was just a shower head on the side of the bath which was falling apart, the hot water was good though which was a bonus! The fire door didn't work either.

We liked the ancient building and the big, open fire. We did not like the bathroom - it must have been the same since the 1970s. Water ran across the floor when showering; the tiles were cracked and it was generally dingy. One of the beds had two mattresses - one on top of the other - which was bizarre and too bouncey. There were no bedside lights which meant that you had to to get out of bed, after reading, to turn the light out. The rooms were in a modern part of the hotel, which wasn't explained on the website and this was greatly disappointing. The corridor was very cold. The breakfast was described as 'Continental'. Continental usually means breakfast that they typically eat on the Continent - ie meats, cheeses, croissants etc. We had cereal and slightly burned toast. We have stayed at hotels in a similar price range before, which were of a higher standard, and so would not stay at this hotel again.

My two sons (27 &25) and I stayed here as a "no-frills" base for a nearby training course. It met our immediate needs. Staff chatty and ok, the owner more so. Lack of car parking. Breakfast limited to toast and cereals. Best to eat elsewhere for lunch/evening

Convenient location. Good steaks in restaurant. Good girl on bar duty. Very tired decor. Old and very creaky bed. No cooked breakfast offered as chef was away and no discount then offered. Poor service from man on duty in the morning who looked rather bored and stayed sat on a sofa as we left

We were late to arrive and early to leave for a triathlon. We were well looked after including keeping the bikes safe and sorting us a breakfast before the official opening time. Friendly, helpful. We would go back Stopped serving food at 9-00pm.
