Friendly and helpful staff. We were welcomed by a staff although we arrived at 2 am, much later than expected.
Lovely staff, large room, free garage for our Harleys, great bar & good real ales, good breakfast, good location, tea & coffee in the room
bathroom had tiles off on the bath wall, was very tatty, not 100% clean in the floor corners, tv did not work, the hotel needs to be renovated,
Noisy doors. Poor breakfast
poor lighting throughout shabby tired old fashion decor dirty bathroom terrible over priced food breakfast a joke-no hot water to have a cuppa-host made toast then switched off kitchen light and left really poor value for what you pay for
I loved the place! Bathroom was a little dark, but I wasn't exactly going to be living in that area of the room, so no real complaints there. Bed was warm and cosy, and very comfortable. Clean room, and helpful staff. Thank you, Chequers!
Bed was clean and Comfortable, staff well the one young lady we saw was pleasent enough.
Thick dust behind TV Bathroom very dated and didnt look clean due to tiles missing and mildew around the bath. Could not get Wi-Fi connection TV didnt work. Breakfast was very poor glass of jucie variety pack cereal and choice of 2 yoghurt and toast do not make a continental breakfast. Expensive for what we got.
No meals available No hot breakfast - toast only Dated bathroom - shower head too low and water pressure could be better Room very hot Poor lighting generally but particularly in room.
We enjoyed being welcomed and the atmosphere of Hotel. Excellent value for money as well.
Bed very good slept well..
Bathroom needs updating very old broken tiles and loo needed fixing .. Breakfast poor ... Had to ask for fresh coffee... No cooked breakfast available ... Service poor.. As it wasn't particularly cheap..
Room nice quiet with good chairs.
Limited evening meals available on nights we stayed. But plenty of other places to eat in the village.
good size family room, comfortable beds
poor standard of decor, horrible lighting, dusty surfaces.downstairs area was dimly lit, and did not feel very welcoming
Staff friendly and helpful. Bed very comfortable.
En suite a little 'tired' looking
location was good ,bar area and barman very good
very dark corridors no lights on,the whole accomodation block could do with a facelift
Close to London, friendly staff and locals, great character, free room upgrade
Wifi signal nor perfect in the new bit of the building
The welcome on arrival was nice. The bed was clean and comfortable. The room was in a quiet situation. Breakfast was adequate as we were aware that it would be a continental. It was nice to see that this Inn was so popular with local people, it was always busy with people outside the front enjoying their drinks, wheras other pubs in the area lacked this atmosphere.
CLEANLINESS, ie Filthy bath mat being used as a cover for bedside unit. No bedside lamps, so had to get in and out of bed for reading ect... No forewarning of the fact there was no chef, hence no dining facilities. Bathroom filthy ie floor, tiles had blood on them, mouldy mastic the list goes on. Tea making facilities were next to none and what ther was seemed to be hit and miss, ie random tea bag opened. Empty water bottle under the bed from previous guests.
Bed despite being soft gave good nights sleep
Breakfast was very poor - ie cereal, toast fruit, yoghurt is not our idea of continental breakfast
Location good Quiet room
Bathroom very run down in need of upgrading. No bath plug. No night table lights for reading, nowhere to sit other than the beds.
Stayed one night though we had booked three. Would not recommend this so called hotel.
decor was very dated, with basic facilities
Bathroom was dated and toilet not even flushed before our arrival. Bath mat used on bedside table as a cover for the very tired furniture. Dust everywhere. I honestly don't think the room had been used for ages and certainly no one had done a once over to check it before our arrival. No wi fi, no parking except on the road outside. Breakfast.... Stale orange juice, minimal cereal choice, plain white bread including crusts toasted. Bedside lamp flickered on off through the night. We saw an un drunk orange juice poured back into the orange dispenser. Booking.com you seriously need to check this place out, your reputation is at stake here.
They allowed us to check in very late. Staff were friendly. The location is good. The pub is very old and full of character.
The bedroom (in a more recent extension) was dated, the bathroom and shower were very "1970". The breakfast was described as" continental " but consisted only of cereal, yogurt, and toast made from cheap sliced bread. some fresh rolls, quality jam and fruit would be appreciated. However, you get what you pay for, and it was not expensive.
Friendly, helpful. Beds had nice clean sheets. Bathroom was clean with nice white fluffy towels. Owner was very pleasant.
Bedrooms very basic, no bedside cupboard or lights. Carpets old, paintwork dirty, very dusty especially pipework to radiators. Beds need new mattresses. 4 poster bed had dirty dusty net curtains around it. Overall the whole building is in need of a good clean and paint.
There's tired and then there's downright awful as to condition of accommodation. this should be an absolute gem of a small hotel, but it needs so much money spending on it to bring it up to even the photos they use on this website. Breakfast was help yourself, which is fine, but you do expect the host to at least say good morning and give you an option of what toast you would like - instead, it was plonked down on the table besides us without a word from him and there is remained, crozzled and dried up! I had booked workmen in previously and had forgotten just how poor they said this place was - we cut our losses and checked out after one night - better to have paid the penalty of a night's accommodation and drive back up to Yorkshire. Dreadful
Well the hotel is improved a lot since my last trip. The room is stayed in this time was renovated and very nice. The owner was very helpful and friendly and so was his son. The place was welcoming and cozy. The room was quiet and quaint. I had a comfortable stay there.
The wifi signal was not very strong in the room but the owner was working on it. It seems the property being very old the walls bounce off the wifi signal :) But that was just a minor hitch in the other wise good experience
Location Comfortable clean beds
Continental breakfast not up to continental standard. WiFi not available despite being offered. Bathroom needed updating. Very limited Parking
