We were very impressed with the polite and helpful staff at check in desks and thought the general condition and decor of our hotel room and the swimming pool area were very tasteful and well kept. It was'nt far from Chester bycar and was over all just a very nice place to be with a relaxing atmosphere. There was some building work being undertaken on the hotel which we were not made aware of when booking our stay, however we did not book directly with the hotel (we did it through booking.com) so they are not to blame for this. Also on our arrival there was no record of our booking at the hotel as 'booking.com' had not informed the hotel of our booking. Once again this was not the hotels fault and they did their best to accomodate us which resulted in us being upgraded to a better room, which was nice, however if there was no more available rooms in the hotel at the time it could of been very different..

Close to chester. The hotel is under going major refurbishments, total disruption, coridoors like a building site. The bedroom smelt very strongly of paint, so we had to leave the windows open the whole time. Wet paint sticker, hand written on bedroom door. Really not worth the money we paid. I would not stay here again.

The hotel was being renovated at the time. Our room was down a corridor without any lights. The carpet in the communal areas was dirty and not all the lights in our room worked. There was no fir escape signage in the room or along the corridor.

Friendly staff, lovley Spa. The rooms were tatty, Wallpaper peeling off, stains on the ceiling, generally in need of a lick of paint and modern décor. Also the house and rooms and bar area were really cold, the radiators could not heat it.

Refurbished room was very good, but no toilet roll holder and kettle had to be plugged in underneath a desk and boiled there as well. Lost bbc1 after day 1 of the stay, but no great loss there. You shouldn't have let guests stay in the Gamull with the redecoration/ renovation works being carried out. Wet paint signs everywhere and dust sheets made it look like an unfinished Spanish hotel.

I am presently waiting for a reply to an e mail I have sent to the General Manager highlighting why I believe we didn't get what we were led to believe, and my feeling that the price was high for the state of the "still being refurbished" hotel

We thought that the spa facilities were good and the staff were friendly We had no hot water in our room for our whole stay. The staff gave us no solution or alternative other than to shower in the spa which was not acceptable. we were waiting for an hour for someone to resolve the problem which dfid not happen and resulting in us having to change our evening plans. Our hotel room was dusty and had several stains on the walls and carpet. There were insects in our bathhroom as well. The room was dated and the bed was very uncomfortable. We were also woken up with an abrupt bang on our door very early in the morning.

Parking availability, check in staff were friendly, the one bar meal we had was very nice and the bar staff were very polite and friendly. The hotel was in a state of refurbishment which meant that it was a little like a building site. Our room was located on a corridor with every other room being refurbished - doors left open revealing bare plaster walls, decorating equipment, completely uninhabitable, dusty and lots of rubbish/old furniture piled up. The corridor was so dusty that we had to avoid brushing past the walls. Our room was fine - a bit tired, but thats ok, the bathroom had lots of broken floor tiles though. Our window was covered in scaffolding and the small courtyard garden below was full of the remnants of building work. There was a rather unpleasant "old cabbage" smell throughout the communal areas close to the restaurant (hence we chose to eat out for almost all means during our stay!) All in all, if I had known the extremely unfinished state of the hotel, I would not had booked to stay there, and I am very surprised that we were not warned about this. With hindsight I should have said somthing while we were there, but the impression I had was that the entire hotel must be in the same state - otherwise surely we would not have been put in this room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was very nice! The hotel was very dated and in need of a very deep clean! Upon arrival me and my partner were unaware of renovation works been taken place, we weren't particularly affected by it but on booking, crawball could have at the least let us know, it definitely took the beauty away from the location! Also a hotel in this condition should definitely reconsider their pricing at least until they have completed the refurb, I don't feel we received 100% value for money

We planned on staying for 2 nights but decided to leave in the morning. Breakfast was not worth £10 each! Room was not up to 4star standard. Hardly slept due to someone walking back and forwards in in the room above. Couldnt have a lie in due to building work going on. Decor was old and just looked dirty. False advertising! Very dissapointed in the one night stay. Will be sending a complaint letter requesting refund!

The rooms were comfortable and just what we were hoping from an old manor house type of accommodation. We loved the spa facilities and if we were up that way again we would def have another stay :) The furniture was a little worn but the character was great and they were still in process of refurbishing new rooms whilst we were there which I am sure will look great :)
