The new decoration is good.

The staff can be unwilling to help when problems arise, claiming ignorance. On our visit to the Spa all the facilities were cold including the Jacuzzi, pumping out cold water, when reception were told they said there was nothing they could do, therefore our relaxing hotel experience pretty much came to an end from there and given the hotels location there was nothing else to do, unless you want a drive out! It is also currently going through a refurbishment, and the builders were in at 8am in the morning, drilling, therefore I’d leave this hotel for a couple of months until the work is complete.

The room was huge, just been updated. Bedroom was really big with two balconys, seperate dressing room and a massive modern bathroom. Would definitely return for the same rate. Staff were very helpful and knowledgable. Swimming pool was really nice and the sauna, steam room and hot tub nearby!

Was in the middle of a revamp, which can't be helped but didn't help the look of the castle from the outside!

Like the setting. Appreciate refurb going on and appears to be managed ok by hotel. Looking at the parts still waiting to be done it was very overdue.

Lacked finishing touches to service that you would expect. Biscuits in room, mini bar in room, plastic laundry bag, newspapers at breakfast. Also not sure what market hotel is aimed at? Finally no lift

We booked here last minute and what a great place we have found. The hotel is ongoing a refurb but what they have achieved is outstanding. We was given a free upgrade to room 43 which was a refurbished room which had high quality furnishing and furniture. Lauren greeted us with a very warm welcome and made us feel at home. The spar is the best one we have been to and was very relaxing after a busy day. We will be retuning very soon (hopefully in the suite which Lauren kindly showed to us). Thank you for a great stay.

The country side aspect close to the town. Room was beautiful by poor outlook. Staff were excellent.

Corridors were filthy. Although referbishments were on going care should have been taken to hand back the hotel each day in a good manner. I work for a hotel fit out company and we wouldn't leave the corridors in such a poor state.

Children could not use the pool before 10am or after 5pm Shower did not work correctly - poor pressure and way too hot.

Reception was friendly & helpful. Room was lovely. Spa very relaxing. Evening Meal was very tasty.

Drinks a little expensive, bed uncomfortable, Water didnt get hot enough to run a bath but shower was powerful.

The receptionist was first class...did everything she could to make you welcome..a credit to Crabwall Manor !!

We booked an executive suite as the one shown on this website looked great.........however the one we were offered was nothing like it (room 6)so we asked for another..none available and was told that the suite in the picture was actually room 36 in the old part of the house and it was booked......so we asked what else they had...we ended up agreeing to downgrade to an executive room (rather than a suite) and were happy with Room 43. The hotel threw in a free breakfast for two to compensate. None of this is the hotels fault but the lesson is if you see a nice room on these websites make sure you phone up and see if that exact one is available...otherwise you could be disappointed. Other than the above Room 43 was good....thankyou.

Loved the actual building - it is gorgeous. Very nice patio area and garden that you can sit out in with a drink. Breakfast was fantastic - very tasty and lots of it. Our room had been refurbished and was stunning and incredibly spacious. Location - 5 minute drive from Chester city centre. The pool and spa area is fabulous - just what we needed. Would definitely stay there again, the character, history and charm of the place is second to none.

It's obviously going through a refurbishment at the moment and some of the areas are a little bit tired/tatty. The numbers on the bedroom doors are typed on a bit of paper and stuck on with blutack. Could do with putting the signs (i.e. which way is reception etc) back up. The restaurant prices are extortionate so we headed into Chester for a cheaper meal.

The room was newly refurbished . The bed was extremely comfortable . We did enjoy our stay.

Work was still be carried out while we were there and nothing looked like it was finished off properly.

it was very confusing to wind our way around the cooridors and stairs to find our room.l felt the shower bottom was very slippery this could be a hazard for many people.

Unfinished high quality bedroom, door to balcony not painted, no bolt. No soap supplied their policy not to supply. Only one key to room. When one goes to pool one has to give key to reception, ok for one but inconvenient for a couple. Masking tape not removed from fire alarm on ceiling until asking for it to be removed. Lots of irritating things spoilt our time at Crabwall Manor. They did give £50 back as their sorry. I was not made aware that building works were being carried out, but staff assured me that it was stated on booking.com - not on my forms !!

Very good breakfast. Hotel being refurbished to a very high standard including our 'executive' room which was excellent and unlike most rooms of that description worthy of that description

Bar prices very expensive, no real ale. Tea/Coffee in room but no biscuits.

Very peaceful and comfortable.

enjoyed are stay couldn't fault anything.work still going on but no disruption to us.very happy with our room which had been refurbished to a high standard hope to go back in the future.

Staff were all so friendly it made our stay really enjoyable

Although we understand it was being decorated the stairs leading up to our room were filthy which gave a very poor impression. There was no life in the bars and they closed at 12, which is unusual for a hotel. Need music and laughter to make it a place people want to drink in - which would make more money also. As would putting snacks out for people in bar - makes them thirstier!!

Nice facilities and grounds, ideal for chester and just off the motorway

The hotel was being redecorated and we had to negotiate painters every time we left the room. Cant be helped though

The room was one of the largest and most nicely decorated I have ever stayed in. The room was very well equipped and very contemparary. It had obviously been recently refurbished and to a very good standard.

The hotel is undergoing extensive refurbishment. Lots's of tradesmen on site lots of dirt and dust in communal areas together with 'wet paint' signs everywhere. On the way to the room there was builders debrit covering the floors and corridors. If the refurb would have been mentioned on the website I would have found somewhere else. I would go back but only once the refurbishment has been completed

The recently renovated rooms are amazing; exceptional value, huge and tastefully decorated. The hotel is undergoing a massive renovation project and is working very hard to make this as pain free as possible for customers. We were up for a funeral and our very pleasant stay and the welcoming staff took the edge off a very sad time for us - thank you.

Fantastic refurbished bed room and really helpful staff

Tired decor in main areas to be expected though as whole hotel is being renovated. Work started very early in the morning.

We were very impressed with the polite and helpful staff at check in desks and thought the general condition and decor of our hotel room and the swimming pool area were very tasteful and well kept. It was'nt far from Chester bycar and was over all just a very nice place to be with a relaxing atmosphere.

There was some building work being undertaken on the hotel which we were not made aware of when booking our stay, however we did not book directly with the hotel (we did it through booking.com) so they are not to blame for this. Also on our arrival there was no record of our booking at the hotel as 'booking.com' had not informed the hotel of our booking. Once again this was not the hotels fault and they did their best to accomodate us which resulted in us being upgraded to a better room, which was nice, however if there was no more available rooms in the hotel at the time it could of been very different..
