Score from 218 reviews Very good
Just a short walk from the centre of this market town and only 500 metres from Chesterfield Railway Station, the hotel offers free private parking and good value.
Score from 657 reviews Good
On the A619, just off junction 30 of the M1 motorway, the hotel makes a great base from which to visit the Peak District, Sheffield and Nottinghamshire, with free parking and comfortable en suite...

Score from 173 reviews Very good
The staff were really friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The fact that it was due to shut for good the day I left.
It takes 30 seconds to walk to the railway station from the Hotel entrance. (The coach station is about 10 minutes walk away).
Clean facilities and sheets.
The WiFi did not connect. Breakfast was poor quality. The fruit was old and limited.
Cleanliness relaxed atmosphere Reasonable price
High step up to bathroom I fell down it! found the stairs after the lift a bind overpriced continental breakfast
Cheap and cheerful. Lovely building and ideal location
Decor was a cross between faulty towers and guest house paradiso. A little dated which gave it a shady feel to the place. As a whole though, nothing else to let it down.
Location was perfect, staff was helpful and the room was made available early for me.
Closeness to town centre. Relaxed and friendly. Food good value.
Hotel could do with a makeover. Now no leisure facilities.
Light bulb broken - took 2 hours to replace ! No restaurant Sunday evening Staff unresponsive.
the corner bath
the hotel needs some money spending on it to improve the public areas(carpet), the very small lift etc. i did notice the little things like cups in the room not clean but then the lack of cleanliness followed through to b/fast the next morning dirty glasses and again the cups
The staff are charming, food excellent and the rooms comfortable
It is all good
The bar is reasonably priced the Staff friendly but the bed was a budget divan with a mattress where you could feel every spring and as a result was a very poor nights sleep at times the room was too warm and at others cold the dacore is dated and stair carpet heavily worn with fraying in places. Probably look for another hotel next time although the location was handy for the town centre
The bed was very uncomfortable having only a budget mattress
Not a lot!!!!
Where do we start. The room was really tired and could do with updating, the bed was made up of two different height matresses, the sink in the bathroom was cracked and to top it all it was above the function room which had a party on and the music was really loud. We had to ask to be moved to another room so that we could get some sleep. The room we were moved to was really cold. The staff were not that helpful. They could do with some training in customer relations.
Friendly helpful staff value for money good location near the station Good breakfast (but no honey)
Water running loudly in the toilet bowl all night disturbed sleep. Hole in bathroom radiator so could not have it on. Badly worn carpet on the stairs, same as last year health and safety issue Room 204 needs extra sound proofing on windows as bypass very loud.
really enjoyed our stay easy access into town look forward to returning
Rooms were clean and tidy. Continental breakfast had plenty of choices.
Hot water from the bathroom showers was tricky to set up and somewhat variable. Wedding party noise disturbed the sleeping of one of our family.
staff friendly xmas decorations added character, without them place would look a bit sparce.
single bed, could feel buttons on mattress through sheet , uncomfotable
Great room, very spacious and clean, friendly and helpful staff
Nothing to not like
Some public areas have been refurbished well such as the breakfast room - but there remains much to do.
Best not to have a room towards the end of the central heating system - v e r y cccold if you do. Carpet is threadbare in some parts and general TLC required which lets down the whole feel of the place. Worst thing when I stayed was that there were many guests returning to the hotel rather drunk and very noisy.
Location within easy reach of all amenities, nice clean comfortable room.Big bathroom ,plenty hot water.
Staff were friendly, good location, room service breakfast was prompt and hot. Bed was comfy, extra pillows and blankets were readily available in the wardrobe. The room was clean and fit for purpose.
The room was quite cold. The walls are thin, I could hear the person next door receiving a text message!! The decor is quite old fashioned and could have done with some TLC. Mini toothpaste would be a good idea (particularly as I'd forgotten mine!)
Location was perfect, just next to the station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable. Every thing was nice and clean. Food generally good.
The description on booking.com included breakfast but when I got to the breakfast room they said I had only paid for continental breakfast and would have to pay an extra 4 pounds to have eggs. It was still good value but annoying to have to go to reception and pay before I could eat the breakfast I though I had already paid for. WiFi in room509 was extremely slow and kept dropping out. In the end I used my mobile phone to check my email as it was impossible to use the WiFi with my Mac. Decoration looks a little tired in places.
Rooms are dated and dirty . Tv is old and just placed on furniture like a bedsit Damaged wall paper and walls with holes etc Hotel has cheek to offer meals at London prices but the whole ambience of hotel does not even justify eating in restaurant let alone try the food. Rather have kebab
Nothing as you know I never returned
good service from the staff. Bed comfortable.
the whole building could do with a general refurbishment
This place is in my home town and I am ashamed to say that it is a dirty dated hotel, our room decor was beyond dated the mattress was stained and had a hole in with spring protruding out, on the whole its is no better than a ymca for the homless
