Easy to find and close to shops etc Went for a weekend break with my husband to relax and use swimming pool and leisure facilities but pool was closed and also the sauna and steam room shut on the second day. Staff very freindly and would stay again but check facilities open before.

Restaurant and bar staff were very welcoming, polite and professional. The hotel is in desperate need of investment. Car Parking is a nightmare, Carpets are threadbare, reaction to customer complaints is poor

Chesterfield is a convenient stop off on the way north. The hotel is right in the town with a short walkway to the town center. We had a large room, nicely decorated (but maybe a little tired), very clean, no noise (it was a Monday night), very helpful and polite staff. We didn't try the spa but from the outside it looked impressive. We didn't try the restaurant although we would have if staying another night - we went to the Coco Bar instead which was splendid. Would definitely go back - for the price of £35 per double its almost as cheap as camping!

The location was perfect for our needs. Parking was free. The staff did there jobs well. The food in the restaurant was enjoyable and not too expensive. One of the rooms had loose guttering outside the window, and it kept me awake, we mentioned it on checking out. It was cold - for instance in the restaurant the windows were open and the radiator thermostate was turned down. (this was the weekend 28th-29th April, the wildest weather we've had for ages!) When we arrived the window in my room was open, and in both mine and my friends room the thermostates were turned down. TV's in the rooms were very old fashioned portable types.

It was very reasonably priced. Rooms were comfortable and very well located for the town centre. Parking was easy and free. The reception area was looking a little tatty over by the bar area. The breakfast is overpriced at £12.50 for a full english. We didn't bother on account of the cost so I can't comment on the quality. The price should be half that. You pay a fiver in the town centre, 10 minutes walk away.

Location/ Free Parking/ Restaurant/ Staff/ Budget Cost - Value for Money/ Chesterfield is an interesting old town with some good pubs Single Rooms are quite small. The building creaks a lot (but of course it is old and I was tired so it did not keep me awake for long). I stayed once before in a room overlooking the sunken dual carriageway road and it was noisy. Much better this time and if I stay again (which is likely) I would ask for a room away from the main road).

The large room , parking facilities and the nearness of the town The spa was poor. I had booked this because of the pool facilities which were poor as there was no spinner for a wet costume and no body wash in the showers!

“Exactly what a hotel should be. Rooms were clean and well equipped with good quality furniture and accessories. Nothing ostentatious but had everything you would need. Breakfast was excellent and the owner was welcoming and relaxed. We felt he was pleased to see us and interested in our reasons for visiting. We stayed in the area to collect my car from specialist engineers, and we will definitely stay in this hotel again next time we have work done on the car.” Elizabeth, Taffs Well Cardiff |
