Location is excellent and near to bus/coach/train stations for ease of travel to other places around like buxton, bakewell, castleton. The unbearable heat in the room, even with the window open and a fan-heater, it was like a sauna, luckily i only stayed 2 nights, both of which i couldn't sleep due to the heat.

The location to town and other pubs a 5 minute walk Breakfast average No hot water and no heating on this occasion only to be told by a letter under the door half an hour after checking in at for o clock When hotel had known about this before we checked in. When we asked why not told about this at check in Staff were rude unhelpful and basically said there is the door No refund no help or offer to resolve the issue no electric fan heater offered This was appealing service for a out dated hotel will not recommend or stay here again Disgusted as a regular at booking.com

Conveniently located, a short walk from the railway station and the town centre. Even though free wifi was advertised only as being in public areas, it also worked in the room - a huge plus. Continental breakfast, included in the room rate, was very good. On check-in, they tried to charge me a higher rate than at which I had booked. Fortunately, I had brought a copy of my reservation and was sufficiently assertive to see that it was honoured.

Good location and that sums up any plus points for this hotel Had no hot water or working television - informed by staff that price was low so what did I expect? I was given an email address to complain if I wanted to but hold no expectations of any satisfactory resolving of problems seeing as I'm now 300 miles away!!! Awful soundproofing meant that good location resulted in poor sleep due to road noise. Grubby room, sullen front desk staff Very uncomfortable bed, grey looking laundry, dated bathroom made redundant by having no hot water, advised by "duty manager" to run water for 20 minutes to see if any hot water "appeared", needless to say it didn'T. (There was an interesting sign in the bathroom requesting residents to think about re-using towels to help "save" the environment. Well, we went one step further, because with no hot water we didn't use our towels at all!!!!!)

The shower didnt work properly it was freezing cold and we had to run it for 10 minutes, then it completly went off! The lift also didnt work and we had 2 heavy bags to lift upstairs, the Duvet smelt! That was disgusting. Overall a very poor hotel. Faulty towers would have been better.

It was a good price and clean and central to where I needed to be. The tv didn't work - didn't worry me on this occasion as only there one night. Also in general the hotel felt in parts a bit dated and some of the furniture in my room was well worn. Although the bathroom had been updated and was clean and nice and the room had been well cleaned.

Located near to railway station and town centre. Staff pleasant, polite and well-dressed. Reception and booking-in was quick, friendly and efficient. This Hotel would benefit from a good plumber, electrician and decorator. The bathroom required attention : shower difficult to operate (handle broken) and temperamental. Washbasin tap produced only luke-warm water, but bedroom radiators too hot to touch. (Unable to turn down as thermostat covered with paint). Guest soap (‘Natural Cleansing Bar’) just the right size to slip down washbasin plughole. Two metal teaspoons were stuck down outlet, which showed a previous attempt to remove the soap.. Bathroom light fittings missing and one bulb not working. No tea bags on first day; only one glass provided and only one bath-size towel and one hand-towel left out, (others located at back of wardrobe). Water left in kettle from previous guests. Not a good practice. Paintwork damaged and generally shabby throughout. Staircase carpets worn thin in parts - considered dangerous. Television did not work. Our experience and knowledge allowed us to re-tune it to digital stations. Lift did not work on two days. Gideons Bible interesting, but local phone book (April 1993) out of date. Continental Breakfast was good, but evening dining was disappointing. (Also - we were asked if we wished to ‘eat in’ and were told the menu was in our room. Having chosen from this menu, we then found the restaurant was using a different one.) Some cutlery was dirty. We moved on after two nights and don’t plan to return.

Room was warm, plenty of tea making items Bathroom was ideal for disabled, even to sink being lowered for wheelchair user Very hard to find even using sat nav. Room very dated and carpet stained. Mattresses could do with updating. Lift up and down to breakfast room didnt work properly. Hill to and from car park, very difficult to get up and down if disabled. We chose this hotel because of its location, even though some refurbishment has been done in the public areas, the bedroom we stayed in 208 was extremely tired l960 style and exceedingly warm because of its position, which was near the air conditioning units and above the leisure pool area, on booking we did request a peaceful room!!!! It was also near the bye-pass which was noisy, our request was ignored.
