Great staff and nice rooms!

The hotel is well in need of an upgrade - the rooms were very poor ie. wallpaper hanging of the walls, hole in the door worn carpet, mouldy bathroom, cracked tiles.

Polite staff ,value for money,location

Although location is good(close to steeple,bars etc.)there is traffic noise from major road.

Room was in need of a refurb and bringing into the 21st century. Badly designed room, you had to move the curtains to open or close the wardrobe. When you sat on the toilet, if you hadn't shut the door fully, it would fly open and hit you on the knees Room hot and couldn't have window open window because of very loud traffic noise. I didn't want to put any of my things about as I thought the place was a bit grubby which was due to the state of the decoration. The room had obviously been a smoking room in the past and you could still smell smoke when you walked through the door, I suppose the smoke was impregnated into the old furniture. There was something resembling a bandage stuck on the end of the towel rail. I could go on........

Good package, great location for Chesterfield and peak district.

rooms are definitely in need of an upgrade - the tv was falling to bits and we could only get BBC1. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, holes in the doors etc. Do not book this hotel in the summer, we stayed on a warmish weekend in May (not hot) but our room was almost unbearably hot - there was a fan in the room but this only provided mild relief - we opened the windows but this didn't seem to make much difference apart form allowing the traffic noise in from the dual carriage way!

Location to station made it good for arriving late in the evening.

Unfriendly receptionist - surely they should be welcoming? Other staff very pleasant. Bar location gave a negative atmosphere - male drinking, sports TV domain.

My second stay in the chesterfield, another great nights stay, excellent and friendly staff and good facilities all round, have already booked for next week

Generally acceptable levels of cleanliness, decor etc

1. Incredibly loud rock band; felt like trying to sleep in the middle of a disco. Entirely impossible to sleep until it finally stopped after midnight. 2. Asked for alarm call; didn't get one 3. Disappointing that although both bars had a handpump, there was no cask beer. Verging on misrepresentation 4. Food (pre-ordered for a reunion) mediocre. 5. Staff response to query/complaint about the noise totally inadequate

Staff were great. Good price and location.

Hotel rooms a bit run down. Other hotel guests were a bit rowdy.

Nothing or rather leaving in the morning

Room was dated, mattress dirty, it was noisy. Breakfast was not up to standard. This was booked as a present for my wedding night. It ruined by state of the room and facilities.

The room we were assigned initially was cold, draughty, noisy and poorly decorated. We asked for a room change and were told there was only one room left. Although we had booked several months in advance it seemed the worst room had been allocated to us. We were then offered a room but told we would hear noise from the disco that evening. That was an understatement. We were subjected to incredibly loud music and a DJ whose voice could be heard two floors above the disco. This is totally unacceptable. The third room we were offered was over the bar so another night when noise went on until midnight.

The best hotel we stayed during our 10 day vacation. Beautiful room, superclean, perfect location, and spacious bathroom.

I enjoyed my one night stay at this hotel. It was clean, very comfortable and friendly

Staff were very friendly & helpful. The menu was varied ( other than Sunday) and the food was good. Value for the money we paid for the package was very good. The leisure faclities were good and again very friendly staff.

We arrived on the Sunday and were disappointed to find a set basic menu rather than the main menu. The roast option tasted pre cooked and not restaurant standard. On the nights we stayed ,the two bars off the restaurant clearly had residents who were on business and working away . They had the television on loudly watching football. We went to sit in the main lounge only to find that it was cold and unwelcoming , the bar was closed and there was no music. We ended up taking our drinks to our room .

The 2-night package we were on included one dinner and entry tickets to Chatsworth House. The hotel is very convenient for Chesterfield town centre. Breakfast and dinner are good, but the dining room lacks atmosphere. The pool and Jacuzzi were very pleasant after a hard day's walking.

The bedroom décor didn't match the high standards of the public rooms. The bed was not very comfortable. Our room suffered from very creaky floorboards - not one, but all of them! The same creaky floorboards were in the corridor outside. As the rooms are not soundproofed, the combination of this noise and the traffic noise outside made it difficult to sleep.
