Having spent 45 minutes wandering around Chester trying to find car parking for the hotel, we eventually asked a taxi driver, who said it was in the Grosvenor multi-storey car park. On arrival having to go down from the second floor to the ground floor, then into another lift to our room on the third floor is ridiculous. The parking arrangements are archaic!!! The first evening we ate in their Brasserie restaurant which was fine. On the second evening we ate in their Michelin star Simon Radley restaurant. Firstly my wife asked for glass of chablis to be told chablis was not available in the Simon Radley, she said she had a glass in the Brasserie only last night. Ok I wsill have to go next door to get you a glass. Poor attitude, poor service. In the restaurant after two courses we asked for the cheese trolley. There were around thirtyu different cheeses on the trolley, at each table the cheese waiter went through every one. After waiting 45 minutes for the cheese to arrive, we lost interest and went to the bar. The head waiter apologised profusely and credited us with all our beverages for the evening. Not good enough, very poor service and badly organised from the first glass of chablis to the end of the meal. Really dreadful. On checking out having paid £330 per night I was told I had to pay for my car parking in the multi storey for two days. How mean spirited, how money grabbing, lets extract every last penny out of our unfortunate guests. Plus on the Saturday morning our room had still not been made up at 1.30pm. Overall a very unfortunate experience, there is a lot wrong at the Chester Grosvenor, a lot would have to change before I would stay there again.

Whilst the hotel was clean and in a great location, expected more from it considering it's reputation. No tea/coffee, bathrobes in rooms. Very poor continental breakfast considering £20 basically just for plain yoghurt & toast. Dining in the Michelin restaurant was not as good as expected as all waiters were foreign and we were unable to fully understand what each dish from the tasting menu was. The bed however was huge and extremely comfortable. Think next time I'll be staying somewhere else.

Excellent staff, very comfortable, great location. High noise level from other room's doors closing late at night. Having to wait for breakfast at a five star hotel.

The location was good as the hotel was right in the centre of the shopping areas and close to the cathederal and old wall. The hotel was clean and well furnished and the beds were very comfortable. Easting in the restaurant was an experience with the presentation of the food being a delight. We found it disappointing that we couldnt make a drink when we wanted as tea and coffee were only availble through 'room service'. So complimentary tea making facilities should be included at the very least. Whilst we found the staff very helpful and friendly the restaurant staff was a tad over-fussy.

Location is fabulous - right in the centre of town and the parking was very convenient. The room was really beautiful and spacious and sparklingly clean. As it was my birthday we were given a free upgrade which was lovely. The staff were all very friendly and attentive with a great sense of humour. We didn't really want to leave! Felt that tea and coffee making facilities should have been in the room - we missed not having our usual wake up cuppa!

The staff were superb. Delighted to be upgraded without asking. The room was quiet and comfortable. Valet parking was a nice touch. Great location. The bar was quietly stylish and served cocktails made to a high standard. The Bar: a negroni should be served with ice in an old fashioned glass!

Beautiful room and great location I thought the food in the Brasserie was grossly overpriced and not very good. I would not eat there again.

We stayed over the Christmas holidays and was only able to spend a night. We wished it could have been longer as The Chester Grosvenor is everything we injoy in a hotel. Luxory, comfort and excellent service. The staff could not have been more helpful and accomodating assisting us in obtaining our boarding passes and providing us with an early morning breakfast for our very early departure the next morining to the airport. Our rooms were beautiful with every amenity very well thought out. The afternoon high tea was lovely as well. We'll make it a point to stay at your hotel the next time we visit Chester. Thank you, Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Lyon, Corona Del Mar, CA

We went for 3 nights for our honeymoon and as soon as we go there we were upgraded to a suite which was amazing. The staff couldn't do enough for us and made it a fantastic honeymoon. Would definitely recommend it for a few days of pure luxury. Can't wait fit the chance to go back.

Some places promise luxury but don't live up to it. There is something quite unique about the Grosvenor - its just beautiful and a real treat. The staff treat you as if you were royalty, I just love it. Chester at Christmas is a very special place. This is our second December in a row and I would rather spend one night in the Grosvenor than a week on a beach in Europe! I think for £280 a night, a cooked breakfast should be included in the price of the room!
