Whilst the hotel was clean and in a great location, expected more from it considering it's reputation. No tea/coffee, bathrobes in rooms. Very poor continental breakfast considering £20 basically just for plain yoghurt & toast. Dining in the Michelin restaurant was not as good as expected as all waiters were foreign and we were unable to fully understand what each dish from the tasting menu was. The bed however was huge and extremely comfortable. Think next time I'll be staying somewhere else.

The staff were very friendly and the door staff extremely helpful. No facilities to make tea or coffee in the room and then being charged £7.50 for tea in the room. Extortionate when charging £275.00 for the night with a cooked breakfast as an extra. Crisps in the room £5.00.

We were made to feel special in all departments. The staff were very welcoming in Reception and the restaurant. The tasting menu was amazing and maybe a treat to be had again ................... sometime. We visited on the occasion of a special birthday for my husband and he loved it!

Very comfortable and well located I had a very poor nights sleep because of the poor design of the air conditioning and the fact that it cannot be turned off locally in the room . Even when on 0 setting the fan was on and I could not sleep. The staff were very good and tried to find me an alternative but the problem was the same. In the end at 12.45 I decided to sleep with earplugs to block the noise out. The reception manager halved my bill in the morning which was good and appreciated as I was not well rested. You need to be able to turn the system off for people who do not want a fan running all night.

I particularly liked the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff and the luxury of the place. I didn't like the fact that there wasn't any tea/coffee making facilities in the room and although we were promised a tray it did not materialise.

The staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable. Its location - in the heart of Chester - is ideal for shopping, restaurants and exploring the Roman remains of the city. It was rather unfortunate that major refurbishments were taking place at the time of our stay which meant there was some noise from the builders and we had to eat breakfast in our room. However, the breakfast was delicious and served exactly at the requested time and the builders did not continue into the evening.

Location was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay and also prior to our stay. The room was a good size and the bed very comfortable. The room, although a good size was very stuffy even with the fan working.

Restaurants were under renovation. As a long-time Chester Grosvenor visitor (first stay was in 1999) I hope things don't turn too modern. The library has lost some of it's traditional style. The front of house staff is as outstanding as always.

The staff were extremely attentitive at all times from arrival to departure, the valet service on offer was a really nice touch, the weather was very poor and being allowed to park right outside the hotel in a very busy more or less predestrianised area was great. The rooms were spotless and very luxourious. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room but if you ring room service within ten to fifteeen minutes an amenity tray is delivered. We upgraded from the continental breakfast to the full breakfast and the food was faultless. Even of you only opt for the continental breakast then the choice is extensive. The parking was very reasonable too £8.50. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. There are great restaurants and bars near by. We were given a rom at the front of the hotel. The hotel is right in the middle of the centre so you can hear the hustle and bustle of a city centre. However in the evening it does get very nosiey so much in fact we asked to be moved to a quiter part of the hotel. The staff did this immediately and were very apologetic. The room we were moved to was again excellent and luxurious and very quiet. If you are booking I would recommend you request a quiet part of the hotel.

We stayed over the Christmas holidays and was only able to spend a night. We wished it could have been longer as The Chester Grosvenor is everything we injoy in a hotel. Luxory, comfort and excellent service. The staff could not have been more helpful and accomodating assisting us in obtaining our boarding passes and providing us with an early morning breakfast for our very early departure the next morining to the airport. Our rooms were beautiful with every amenity very well thought out. The afternoon high tea was lovely as well. We'll make it a point to stay at your hotel the next time we visit Chester. Thank you, Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Lyon, Corona Del Mar, CA
