Great location for Man Utd FC game as per our stay. Friendly staff and good parking. Easy to Find. Stayed in Room 2 next to stairs to bar and restaurant. Lots of noise till late of people walking up and down. Floors very creaky and noisy throughout building - kept son awake.

The staff were friendly and the hotel was lovely and clean. The breakfast was yummy. The night porter decided to let a 6ft christmas elf into our room at 2 in the morning which was quite a fright to wake up to.He just stood there and stared at myself and my husband. He was drunk and I was petrified. My husband was furious and went down to complain and the porter appologised and said that we could get a reduction.A Full refund is what we wanted and deserved! This stupid porter spoiled our stay but apart from that the hotel is really nice lol.

Location. On arrival was asked to pay bill upfront. O.k. but found this strange. Hotel advertises Steakhouse. My son and I booked a table for 6p.m. No staff member advised that no a la carte menu on match days. We were handed a menu for starters only. Offered a carvery which we declined and settled for a measly burger. Later in evening discovered bedside lamp was broken. Requested another lamp as enjoy reading. Porter came, tried changing bulbs. Didn't work. Requested replacement lamp to read and was told not possible as lamps are wired into wall apparently because clients steal them!! As only bright downlighters in room was forced to put them off to let son sleep. On checking out was overcharged by £10. Pointed out to receptionist, who said nothing she could do as would upset her paper-work. When I insisted on £10 deduction she said "do you realise I worked a 10 hour shift yesterday". My son and I could not believe how appalling the service was. Without doubt the worst hotel ever stayed at. If ever a Hotel owed its existence to its location near Old Trafford, its this one. Absolutely abysmal place!. Will never go back.

Its proximity to Old Trafford (my destination) and the city. Very expensive, £135 for a very basic twin room. Noise from other guests in other rooms very obvious with no relief during the night. Breakfast for £15 pounds quality and quantity was just fair , and bar snack and drinks expensive and quality just fair on night of arrival. Asked for and paid £5 to leave my car in Chester Hotels carpark for duration of football game I was attending in the afternoon, even though I had parted with over £200 during my 14hr stay so I leave it to you to judge the parity between meanness and fair play.

The room was OK for the price. I would not like pay anymore than we did. If your reason for going to Manchester is to watch the football at Old Trafford then this is a good cheap hotel. If you go into the city and stay after midnight you will pay an extra £20-£25 in taxis. So it may be better to pay that extra money for a better city center hotel and walk to venues. Then again if you drive to Manchester you will have to pay to park the car. The one good point about the Chesters Hotel was the free car park. The noise from the people in the rooms on the above floor.

The central position being very handy for Old Trafford Salford Quays and Manchester City Centre as well as being on good bus routes The constant noise of the air conditioning units at the rear of the hotel and creaking of the floorboards in the upper bedrooms and corridors

Excellent value for money, extremely friendly staff particularily in the dining and bar areas. Food was great value and the quality was superb. Was sleeping next door to room with creaking floorboard/S. Very annoying early morning if you neighbours were getting up earlier than you !

Staff very pleasant-good location near to city centre, attractions and public transport. Great value for money. The hotel and our second floor room were too warm and we could hear a generator or something during the night if the window was open.

Warm, friendly welcome! Comfortable atmosphere, made to feel 'at home'. Great value for money. Lovely clean room with good facilities. Very nice full English breakfast (although no mushrooms!) plentiful coffee, toast and fruit juice! Shower was not very powerful. Took a while to get to the correct temperature. Floor boards were creaky! We stayed in room 24 which overlooked the busy main road (Chester Rd) and even though the window was double glazed, it was still noisy!

The hotel staff were very friendly. Bar / restaurant staff very attentive. Bed was comfortable. Hotel was very quiet (stayed in June not when a match was on) so had a good nights sleep. Overall value for money and would stay there again. The wall paper had tiny pieces missing so made the hotel look as though it needed redecorating. However, feel that is more a reflection on people who have stayed there before - what would possess anyone to pick bits of the wallpaper off?

We had 3 rooms booked. 1 of the rooms was very good, large and comfortable. 1 of rooms we had (room 18) was below a room with very noisy floor boards. This woke us up during our stay. The bed was also uncomfortable. The woman on the desk during check in was grumpy

Comfortable for the price. Breakfast was good. Generally clean. Our room was situated by the front door - incredibably noisy all night with drunk groups coming in shouting. I guess if you were in other rooms the problem would not have been so bad.

The staff was nice. The hotel was decent and rooms are quite large and comfortable. Wifi is available, but the connection is very bad. Most of the time it just didn't work at all. The building is very thin-walled and noisy. You hear people walking all the time. The cracking noises are very disturbing.

I'd love to keep Chesters a secret but it would be unfair of me. Staff always helpfull, efficient and friendly, terrific value. Great food in the restaurant that's very reasonably priced. Look beyond the facade, this is a real little gem of a hotel. I live in hotels, supposedly some of the best money has to offer. It's not all about the stars and the boutique surroundings, sometimes it's nice to be comfortable, well treated, eat well at a reasonable price, not get ripped-off, and be able to chat with staff who have a smile on their face. Great! Well done again guys. I'll be back! Car park great and well lit, handy for the city and ManU. The Wifi is poor so take a dongle if you need to work on the net. Complain? Anyone who complains about Chesters hasn't spent much time in hotels and i'll wager knows the price of everything and the value of nothing! It's a Little Gem!

A really big, clean room that was excellent value for money. We were told that it was going to be £7.50 for breakfast, a continental breakfast at that as that was all they had. Whilst we were pondering this, she said we would have to have breakfast by 7:30am delivered to our room as we would be the only ones who would want it. We declined!

The staff were friendly, honest and efficient. Room was well appointed and decorated. Its location by Old Trafford football and Cricket ground makes it suitable for a sports stay. Rear entrance (only access) and reception desk are rather unexciting - actual front is locked up giving it a rather bleak look from the main road. Wi-fi internet connection is free but signal was too weak in my room - I had to access it in the public lobby area.

I liked the fact that it was so close to Old Trafford Stadium, just a short walk, small, comfortable and clean. The only downside was the road noise which you get if your at the back of the hotel....
