Really easy to stop off the South Downs after a day of hiking. Comfortable, cozy. Shared bathroom was impeccably clean. Breakfast was good and we felt rested and ready to hit the trail again.

I slept with ear plugs, as our room was right on the road. It's not a terribly busy road at night, but there's no buffer between the house and road and just kind of alarming if you aren't used to hearing traffic zoom by that close. It couldn't be helped though, and I was totally happy with the stay otherwise.

This is a very nice and cosy place to stay. The owners are very nice and helpful. The breakfast was great as was the cream tea we enjoyed after exploring the delightful countryside and village.

Great location and loved staying above the tea rooms. Tea making facilities and biscuits was a nice touch, would have loved them to have been home made. Friendly welcome and good value.

Shared bathroom / toilet is not ideal - but you get what you pay for. WiFi was very bad - dropped out a lot!

The location and breakfast. The fact that they made a nice sandwich to take away on my walk and they allowed me to use their phone to call a mobile number as there was no network on my mobile in the house or in the village

The staff needed to go out and asked if I could be there by 6:30pm. This is quite inflexible and shouldn't happen. Fortunately we agreed that time as I could not get there any earllier There was an unpleasant smell in the room and I had to leave the window open all night, which made it difficult for me to sleep with outside traffic noise. The blanket was so old and looked horrible that I had to remove it from the end of the bed. It needs urgent replacement. The furniture is old and should be modernised including the springy bed. The brown carpets looked old and give the impression of dirtiness. There were stains on the carpet, mud etc. which should be frequently removed but were not. The fact that I had to share facilities with others and there was no car parking facilities (I had to park in a narrow street around the corner) made this room poor value for money. I think the room should have been £40 per night maximum.

Helpful, genial hosts. Lovely breakfast. Pleasant setting. Good night's sleep.

Parking early in the day could be problematic.

Very warm and friendly owners, always open to help where they can or just have a nice chat. Perfect fresh homemade food (breakfast and available lunch and cakes!) Garden use, W-Lan (sometimes a bit weak net), use of the tea rooms in the evening. There is a shared bath & toilet (for three rooms), that was no problem for us, but maybe is for other people!

No hand wash facility in the toilet (one has to step over to the bath to wash hands).

Such nice people, room homey if modest. Lovely selection of books, and tv siuated to watch from bed.

Stairs to toilet might prove difficult during a nighttime visit.

had no mobile phone reception, but that was in the entire village not just the B&B, so maybe a network problem

A lovely room, fabulous cakes, lots and lots of books and a very comfortable stay

The shared bathroom was fine, but I didn't feel I could use the beautiful, huge bath in case I held someone else up.

Friendly, welcoming owners. Absolutely spotless, comfortable, spacious room. The deepest, longest bath I have ever experienced. Excellent breakfast. Ideal location for Alfriston and the surrounding countryside.

I felt very welcome and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. It was the perfect place for me to stay travelling on my own (with my dog) as a stop over as I walked part of the South Downs Way.
