Up on business, it's very good for what I need. Reasonable cost, decent food and drink and pleasant staff. Don't expect five star, but it's so much better than the run of the mill.
The location and the building are excellent. The pub was very cosy, and especially with all the Christmas decorations. Had one of the best night's sleep ever. Staff very friendly and helpful
Only one person serving breakfasts, so a bit of a wait
We liked everything about this hotel, clean, friendly, comfortable, handy location will def return
The room was lovely, spacious and clean. The breakfast was nice. The staff were friendly. It is in a quiet location that was ideally placed for an engagement party we were attending
The car park is very small and difficult to navigate around. The curtains in the room didn't draw completely so let in some light from the street lamps.
could have been cleaner.. Heating not good in bedroom 1
lovely location and nice staff, good breakfast
accommodation area a bit tired and in need of a refresh...
comfy beds, enough parking
overnight noise of plumbing. breakfast starting at 8 was a little late for us but it was swift service so OK
easy access from motoway easy to find free parking
music a bit loud but did not stop us sleeping would have been good to have a menu to chose from at breakfast
Friendly welcome, food and bar facilities great, rooms clean and well appointed, lovely breakfast, staff very helpful.
Just a minor point but perhaps a little hair shampoo?
the rooms were very clean and tidy we did not stay to eat in the pub but the meals looked good value ,breakfast did the job very nice.we would certainly stay again
nothing to comment on we had a very nice stay
Friendly staff Nice secure parking area Good value for money Generous and tasty breakfast Nice practical clean rooms Near central location Taxi fare to main town £10
Boiler in the room we staying was noisy and some disturbance in night from its pipe work. Probably other rooms would not have this problem.
The special welcome by Brian the Manager, he was brilliant and went above and beyond. He's a credit to the hotel and the chain. Thanks very much to both Brian and all his hardworking and helpful staff for a fantastic night. Ten out of ten for everything.
Nothing bad to report whatsoever.
The hotel is a beautiful, historic building in a lovely area a short drive outside the city centre. Our room was a good size with a double-sized shower cubicle in the en-suite. There was enough tea, coffee & milk for several drinks, rather than the ration of two of each, as in some hotels.. The bedding and towels were good quality. Even though the bar was busy when we arrived, we didn't hear any noise from there as we were at the back of the building.
The interior was disappointing considering the history and character of the building itself. It lacks any sense of its story; so much more value could be added if the rooms were in character. When we arrived, the barman was 'receptionist' and he did not appear to be a happy chap; maybe he was too busy (the bar was full at the time) but a lesson in customer service would not have gone amiss! Our room, overall, was OK but the grouting in the shower needed some bleach, and the skirting in the en-suite would have benefitted from cleaning. The sash windows did not stay open when lifted ( a wooden wedge was provided for that purpose!) and the window frames appeared not to have seen a cleaner for several months. The mugs on the drinks tray had tide marks from previous use, and water in the bottom, as if they had been rinsed rather than properly washed. Small negatives individually, but added together they tarnished what could have been a lovely hotel break.
I grew up in Childwall Abbey Road, and the location was therefore idea. We appreciated very much the helpfulness of a very hard working staff and the quietness of the room provided.
Room a bit cold
Good food, car park free, quiet but lively with pub quiz.
Steep stairs to rooms
Very friendly. pretty location
location. food. bed. Staff. Price. Joining pub
TV didn't work in room, however, manager offered an excellent reduced rate so it more than made up for it. Did not spoil our stay, we were there for the derby and a night out so TV was last thing on our minds. Happy days.
Comfortable room. Pleasant staff.
The noise of the sewer system when the toilet button was pushed. It was a loud rumble like a jet plane taking off! Each room had the same reaction, so others using the toilet through the night, meant that every room heard the pipes & sewer working.
We had the room with the 4 poster bed which was very cosy although the curtains didn't shut, Staff were friendly and helpful Breakfast was included and very nice
Hairdryer didn't work bur we were offered a new one when we reported this.
food was excellent value . room comfortable and quiet. ladystaff member in attendance at breakfast was very friendly
some staff in evening table didnt make much effort re finer points eg cleaning table .no infomation in room re basic stuff like emergancy contacts - notice out on staircase but in an emergancy not readily accessible
Friendly staff, always willing to help.
Congestion in the car park of an obviously popular pub/ inn.
