My partner loved the soft close toilet seat. It the small things that make a big difference.
The bathroom only had a shower not a bath.
Hotel ok excellent pub food & breakfast
creaking floorboards all the time were ever you walked in the room
The general ambiance of the hotel, the dinner menu and the presentation of the breakfast The location relative to the A1(M) makes this a convenient stop when travelling from the south-east to Scotland.
The layout of the room provided was a little strange but did not spoil the whole experience significantly.
Helpful friendly staff value for money.
Poor wi fi.
Staff uniformly cheerful, friendly, efficient and helpful. Dinner ok and breakfast very good but hot plates would make a big difference. public rooms looked good
The bedroom and bathroom were clean but tired, shabby and outdated. Mattresses on the twin beds were appallingly uncomfortable with. springs pushing thro. Had to use the double size duvets as sleeping bags to get some cushioning!
Great breakfast. Good bar.
Water pressure of shower was low to non existant.
Pleasant hotel in rural County Durham. Good restaurant. Comfortable room at a sensible price.
No problems, except Booking.com didn't send our booking through.
friendly staff everything was as you would wantnothing
Good breakfast and service. Clean room.
The staff on the day we arrived were very helpful. The food was very good in the resturant and at breakfast. The room was a good size with a small sitting area.
The beds had plastic covered matresses and were very badly sprung, l slept on top of the quilt. The bathroom was very very tired, mould in the shower. The carpet in the room was dirty, I was glad I had houseshoes with me I would come again, but bring my own quilt and sleep on top again.
Friendliness of the staff.
Rooms need a serious update.
the deluxe room was huge and very comfortable. The bar was friendly, with good food and drink at a very reasonable price. was given a late check out at no extra cost. nothing was too much trouble.
the food was great and nicely priced for its location(in other words cheap)and a good variety on the menu.Nice bedroom with a lot of space and a large tv for watching.Nice and clean thro out.Breakfast should fill most people up very plesant staff
the walls are paper thin as we could hear somebody snoring and they werent next door
Size of rooms were very good, indeed my 90 year old father in law was most impressed with his. Rooms were very well furnished. Bathrooms very clean. Shower very good. Staff were very helpful and cheerful both in the hotel and restaurant. Food in restaurant was lovely and breakfast was excellent - the staff were particularly good with our 4 year old granddaughter who decided she definitely wanted to stay there again. There was a golden wedding anniversary party going on in the evening in a private room. The pub itself was busy and noisy but we could not hear any noise whatsoever in our rooms. We would definitely stay there again if in the area. Very good value for money.
There was nothing really that we didn't like. The only thing we were a bit concerned about was our first impression when we walked in. It was dark when we arrived and took the first entrance we saw which led straight into the pub part. It was busy and noisy and there was nowhere to check in. We asked one of the bar staff who told us where the hotel reception was - it still took a bit of finding though and we were a bit concerned that my 90 year old father in law would struggle to walk that far. However once we went through the final door we found ourselves in a pleasant reception area. The receptionist was very helpful and suggested we moved the car round to the hotel car park which meant that my father in law hardly had to walk any distance at all and we felt quite relieved.
Extremely helpful staff, moved us to another room because of the Missus's illness, which was much appreciated. Lovely meal in the restaurant.
Very Olde Worlde, including creaking floorboards, not every room has a bath, small windows-not much fresh air.
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff Breakfasts and food Overall cleanliness of the hotel Room was very comfortable.
Function room is rather close to some of the hotel bedrooms. Got a bit noisy when an evening function was on, especially when people went outside for a cigarette. Also, the wi-fi was very very slow and no matter what time I tried to use it, I still had trouble getting to my emails.
The rooms are a good size and well equipped. The restaurant serves good food and the breakfast was well cooked. Generally good position and clean tidy, hotel.
The noise!! I have never been in a hotel that had such thin ceilings. If you are unfortunate enough to be in room 9 with someone above, the noise is appalling, every step, conversation and TV program can be heard. There must be no gap between floor and ceiling. Ask for an upstairs room. Staff seemed too busy. Nobody on desk to allow check out and no wake up call despite asking
Quality reflected in the price
Your service. Especially a sweet elderly lady who served us breakfast
Internet exstremly slow
