Friendliness of the staff.
Rooms need a serious update.
the deluxe room was huge and very comfortable. The bar was friendly, with good food and drink at a very reasonable price. was given a late check out at no extra cost. nothing was too much trouble.
the food was great and nicely priced for its location(in other words cheap)and a good variety on the menu.Nice bedroom with a lot of space and a large tv for watching.Nice and clean thro out.Breakfast should fill most people up very plesant staff
the walls are paper thin as we could hear somebody snoring and they werent next door
Size of rooms were very good, indeed my 90 year old father in law was most impressed with his. Rooms were very well furnished. Bathrooms very clean. Shower very good. Staff were very helpful and cheerful both in the hotel and restaurant. Food in restaurant was lovely and breakfast was excellent - the staff were particularly good with our 4 year old granddaughter who decided she definitely wanted to stay there again. There was a golden wedding anniversary party going on in the evening in a private room. The pub itself was busy and noisy but we could not hear any noise whatsoever in our rooms. We would definitely stay there again if in the area. Very good value for money.
There was nothing really that we didn't like. The only thing we were a bit concerned about was our first impression when we walked in. It was dark when we arrived and took the first entrance we saw which led straight into the pub part. It was busy and noisy and there was nowhere to check in. We asked one of the bar staff who told us where the hotel reception was - it still took a bit of finding though and we were a bit concerned that my 90 year old father in law would struggle to walk that far. However once we went through the final door we found ourselves in a pleasant reception area. The receptionist was very helpful and suggested we moved the car round to the hotel car park which meant that my father in law hardly had to walk any distance at all and we felt quite relieved.
Extremely helpful staff, moved us to another room because of the Missus's illness, which was much appreciated. Lovely meal in the restaurant.
Very Olde Worlde, including creaking floorboards, not every room has a bath, small windows-not much fresh air.
Friendliness and helpfulness of staff Breakfasts and food Overall cleanliness of the hotel Room was very comfortable.
Function room is rather close to some of the hotel bedrooms. Got a bit noisy when an evening function was on, especially when people went outside for a cigarette. Also, the wi-fi was very very slow and no matter what time I tried to use it, I still had trouble getting to my emails.
The rooms are a good size and well equipped. The restaurant serves good food and the breakfast was well cooked. Generally good position and clean tidy, hotel.
The noise!! I have never been in a hotel that had such thin ceilings. If you are unfortunate enough to be in room 9 with someone above, the noise is appalling, every step, conversation and TV program can be heard. There must be no gap between floor and ceiling. Ask for an upstairs room. Staff seemed too busy. Nobody on desk to allow check out and no wake up call despite asking
Quality reflected in the price
Your service. Especially a sweet elderly lady who served us breakfast
Internet exstremly slow
Room comfortable and reasonable prices
A lot of noise from room above so never slept all night. Also room was too hot.

Good location. Convenient for getting to Durham city centre. Spacious clean rooms. Restaurant meals were very nice.
Lovely spacious & comfortable room.Excellent Friendly staff. Evening meals & chef specials excellent. Staff couldn't have been more attentive asking if there was anything we needed. Comfortable bar/lounge area. Lovely view from our room of horses & ponies.
Guests upstairs walking across room was very noisy due to very creaky floorboards. Breakfast buffet style had a good choice, but we were asked if we wanted toast before we had even been offered Tea/Coffee! It came first then we ordered Tea & the "Full English" it arrived 2 minutes after we ordered it & was cold! Was disappointed as evening meal was excellent. Would still come back but would only have a "Continental breakfast".
Quite noisy, sounds travelled from adjacent rooms and especially from above. Wi-Fi extremely slow.
clean plenty of parking
Rock solid lumpy bed. very slow wifi. cold, broken valve on radiater. Breakfast poor cooked meal arrived before cerial finished, powdered egg (yuk). Given standard room when booked exec (email at 1.00 am to inform me which I didnt get till after check in)

Nothing really - rooms a bit dated, but no problems, good value
Good place to stay overnight on pick up or drop off of students
Whole place feels that it could do with some updates in decour and facilities
The hotel is a excellent base for touring around the North East. Pleasant and polite staff throughout. Great hotel. Good food and drink
Be good yo offer buffet breakfast as you were limited to what was on the menu and better wifi as the signal was poor
Staff very friendly and helpful. Food good, nice location, plenty of parking. Room large and a lovely hot bath.
Clean comfy room. Friendly welcoming staff. Good location near Durham. Quiet location.
