Very impressive building and grounds. A feeling of spaciousness. Buffet breakfast very good and a good place to relax. A well run hotel with pleasant friendly staff.

There are sometimes wedding parties which can take over the dining room and lounge area.

The grounds were beautiful. Room service food was very good.

The room was very old fashioned and although it had obviously been cleaned still looked a little grumby due to it's age. There was also no shampoo and conditioner, only a hair and body wash attached to the wall so it couldn't even be used for a bubble bath. We ordered room service on the first night because we had been travelling a long way and did not want to leave the room. The food itself was great but we were then made to go all the way down to the bar (a good 5minute walk from our room) to pay, which entirely defeated the purpose of ordering room service. I booked chilworth manor due to it's reputation but was greatly disappointed.

Very reasonably priced. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. Staff pleasant.

Lots of sets of doors to go through as our room was almost the furthest from reception, if we'd been warned we could have used a trolley as it was difficult to manoeuvre lots of luggage through the heavy fire doors.

I liked the use of the Club swimming pool before dinner. Breakfast was good.

The window of Room 205 didn't open so I couldn't cool the room with fresh air and therefore did not sleep well. I hope the maintenance team fix the window straight away having reported the problem at Reception. The room should not be allocated till this is done. The dinner was expensive and the confit of duck was a surprise considering it was served in a chilled sealed tin on a slate! The medium steak was pretty rare but the ice-cream was excellent.

    Spacious rooms! Comfortable beds.

I found some of the staff in approachable and rude. Many of them were front of house and did not have a smile on their face, which I believe is very important. Only 1 member of staff on reception, and when quite a que built up they didn't ask for extra help, just remained with 1 person at the desk!

    Location and garden

the rooms in terms of beddings, were not up to the expected standards. The staff attitude on checking in was not very helpful and first answers to reasonable's requests (standard in any hotel) were no.

Very poor breakfast, little available at 9.30 on a Sunday morning and indifferent staff monitored by a posing floor manager. Coffee stewed and tepid, croissants not available and basically not interested in sourcing any. Rooms (or at least the one we had) in need of a face lift.

lovely pool room comfortable good breakfast

disappointing to find my 17 year old son was too young to use the pool with me in the evening a simple bar menu would have been good- ended up eating elsewhere

The Hotel was in a beautiful setting, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was clean and in a lovely quiet part of the hotel, the food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious (our complements to the chef), at breakfast there was a huge amount of choice and the spa facilities were also excellent. All in all a wonderful stay thank you.

    I can't think of anything!

The hotel fulfilled all our needs, especially the proximity to the airport. Very quiet location in its own grounds.

    Meals were somewhat pricey!

The absence of a lift. There must be a way to install one without affecting the overall structure of this old building. The absence of air-conditioning.
