Staff were very considerate
We had a baby with us and wanted to use the pool but children are only allowed in the pool 11-1 and we had only booked in for 1 night and can only use the pool if you have a room number. As Check is 2 and checkout is at 11 this could have been a problem but we were checked in early so we could take her in the pool
Location was good. Grounds are lovely.Building from the outside is great. Staff very pleasant.
Room very tied and shabby. Bathroom grubby. Desperately in need of upgrading. Breakfast very average. Bar menu over priced. £13 for a baguette.
Friendly staff. Access to gym and indoor pool. Beautiful building with character .
Room was cold although the heater was on. Furniture and room need an upgrade. Not value for money
Great character hotel that felt like it was in the countryside but still close enough to the city of Southampton. Very comfortable
We were put in the newer part of the hotel which we were very disappointed in as we didn't get the feel of the older part of the hotel . Not good
Staff efficiency and attitude
Excellent leisure facilities, had a great swim
Storage heaters in room
Leisure pool and gym excellent - staff there very helpful. Staff in the hotel were very friendly.
Booking.com indicated leaving time was 10.00am - hotel instructed 9.30am. Inconvenienced by hotel turning off water to do annual overhall (informed the night before that all water would be turned off at 9.00am). The room was very cold on arrival - heating off (ice outside). We put the heater on but it barely warmed the room (very dated heater). Cold during night - summer duvets, no blankets. Felt there was little privacy as heard every noise the man in the next room made - through the thin wall and a room connecting door.
excellent evening meal
breakfast to expensive no o[topm fpr cheaper continental breakfast
All your staff were very friendly and very helpful and had time to chat
We visited for drinks a few weeks previous and your beer taps maybe could do with a look at they were very flat both times not enjoyable for long days like weddings they were very very poor but stay was very enjoyable hope this helps
Exceptional quality of food. The Chef has a real flair. Good restaurant service.
Poorly maintained and basic rooms. No shampoo etc. shower gel type stuff that fell of the wall. Pool and changing rooms cold.
We stay at Chilworth several times a year and enjoy it every time. The leisure centre with beautiful pool (often empty!) is its great selling point. Also the galleried bar with a roaring fire in winter, delicious breakfast, lovely grounds etc.
Having to leave after two nights! :-)
Food at night excellent if expensive. Easy access Staff friendly
Breakfast for the price was mediocre to say the least. Most of it came from tins. Unfortunate as the hotel itself was ok but some areas need redecoration, shabby in places, could be excellent with a little effort. Had to clean the bath where the overflow was, it was filthy, not been cleaned in years I would think.
Impressive facade Clean and comfortable room 24 hour accessibility economical price swimming facility (though no time to use it )
Lack of clear signs within the campus (apart from to the sports club) for arriving in the dark. Fan not working in bathroom , and dangerously broken bulb in one reading light.
The extensive grounds, easy parking and atmospheric hall
The fish and chips at £7 each were literally only 1 chip off "fish and chip".Not 2 big chips either. And we have had larger scampi bites than the 2 mini fish bites provided. The barman to be fair recommended an extra portion of chips, which seemed strange at the time, but increased our snack by about 6 chips each. Together with a leaf or two of salad, it is the worst value bar snack we have ever had, at £20 for two. Don't fall for a bar snack here!
Rude staff and lack of staff when you need services, over priced food with little potions.
Staff were fantastic, hotel, room very clean and large enough. Food was very nice.
Cost of breakfast, I had 1 Sausage, 1 rasher of bacon and a hash brown, yet was charged the full £14.50, my parner had the same with beans and again was charged the full £14.50, this is a disgrace. I could fead a family of 5 a 3 course meal for £14.50. :-(
Room a long way from reception
Room on third floor with lift not working
The location for the science park couldn't be better. And the building and grounds are quite attractive, even in the murk of a drizzly winters evening. The Welcome and check were Ok and the room service menu was reasonably priced.
My room was on the ground floor at one end of one wing of the building. The room was really cold with a badly insulated and drafty window - and the storage heater didn't come on til about 9pm. There wss a lot of plumbing noises in the night but the worst thing was the mattress. It was very hard and very very uncomfortable. I have a bad back and I had such a bad night I had to see my osteopath 48 hours later. Seriously, if you have a bad back I strongly suggest you choose a different hotel. I will in future.
Great grounds and facilities.
Lunch: £17 for a fish pie less than 4 inches by 2 inches!!! £3.30 for a pint of coke! All from the 'lounge menu'
Maître D was excellent, other restaurant staff less so
Had to use overflow parking and bed quite uncomfortable. Bar area not available either night due to party bookings
The grounds. Food was overpriced but good.
Cold. Took forever for room to warm up. Bathroom small and choked. Looked worn out and in need of some TLC.
An attractive hotel in pleasant surroundings. Front desk staff polite and accommodating. Good quality food and service acceptable with one or two exceptions. Overall quite satisfied given the cost.
The main bar area was not the warmest place - not helped by the main entrance doors being constantly left open - had to move seats a few times to avoid icy blasts. Tea and Coffee facilities in the room were woefully understocked. Seemed a little short-staffed during our evening, placing the single barman under a deal of pressure - he coped OK though!
