Ideal location just outside of Swindon in a quiet place. Lovely hotel and enjoyed a peaceful night's sleep.
Minor quibble that I was not advised about the free wifi
The food was 1st class. The room was large and comfortable with everything you would need for a week end break. staff very friendly and polite
The bill was wrong and I could have been charged £65 for wine I did not have.
Loved the setting within beautiful gardens with guardian trees lending their strength to the house. It really was the English hotel Ive always wanted to stay in but never found until now. Convenience to Heathrow and Avebury was a consideration for us. Quiet, beautiful, old English ambience and friendly staff.
Had only one night.
The style of the hotel, a lovely country house. Very nice large bathroom.
car parking difficult when events are taking place.
Cold room, uncomfortable bed.
Special mention to the lady on reception who gave me the most amazing directions into Halfords, they were absolutely spot on, and saved me loads of time, and a jolly good sense of humour. The best directions i've ever had. And special mention to Charlotte on the waiting staff, she was fantastic and served us beautifully for our two night stay. And to the lady that was taking care of the rooms, she was so friendly. The hotel was a lovely place to be, we were looked after so well, our every need taken care of by the wonderful staff. Our rooms were beautifully situated, and very quiet, even with wedding parties on the floor below. Food was excellent, really beautifully cooked, from dinner to breakfast, such a pleasure to eat. This is how a hotel should be run.
The room had poorly maintained windows (rotten glazing bars), but I saw that they were being replaced around the rest of the hotel, so i'm sure this won't be a problem for future guests. The bathroom developed a leak around the velux window, which required some mopping with towels, but the weather was particularly nasty, so it would have shown up a maintenance issue.
The staff here were unfailingly polite and helpful and the hotel was spotlessly clean. Some areas looked a little tired, but some were beautifully done, with new carpets and lovely decor, so I think the hotel is being refurbished. The building was very characterful, with a lovely garden to sit in. The food was good, especially the breakfast.
The location wasn't brilliant, as you needed a car to get anywhere interesting. Although the hotel is on the edge of a housing estate, it's very quiet, and the housing is invisible from the hotel. Opposite looks like agricultural land.
The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. What more could you ask for in an overnight hotel. Great breakfast too, included in the rate.
Everything. Staff friendly service very good enjoyed it all
Nice breakfast, room where it is held in is very modern in contrast to the rest of the hotel
Rude staff on reception, very unhelpful when asking for places to eat locally. Very dated hotel with very dated rooms, awful bright furniture that needs changing. Not worth that £120 per night cost
Pretty hotel setting. Lovely building.restaurant staff and food excellent.room lovely. Would definately return.
Having to wait 10minutes at reception for staff when booking in. To be fair...it was at a very busy time and staff were extremely apologetic. Small gripe that stood out as the rest of stay was excellent.
Easy to find. Location excellent. Staff very pleasant, room delightful, restaurant food tasty breakfast delicious and good menu.
No hot water, bed not great.
Good location, lovely gardens, efficient receptionist, nice-looking traditional hotel, comfortable bed, spacious room. Plenty of choice for breakfast but needs to get a basic english breakfast right first.
Awful english breakfast - leathery bacon and mushrooms, nuked sausages, raw poached eggs, cold tea and toast. Very smelly drains in bathroom, feeble shower. Bedroom not sound-proof due to substantial gap under bedroom door, not great as woken up by drunken noisy merry-makers around 1.30am. Not great if you are staying and there's a wedding party at night. Not worth the usual tariff. Breakfast staff should be more punctual as dining room was not ready first thing.
That the hotel is going through a upgrade in its facilities and its location
the bathroom and bedroom was below an acceptable standard for the tariff charged
Convenient and close to the M4 but still a quiet spot and easy to find. Newly- refurbished so many good points. Very comfy bed and good facilities in the room. Good food and very good service. Helpful, lovely staff.
Shower pressure a little tired and the dining-room lighting could be improved-it's a little harsh in the eating part but very good in the bar area.
The landscape and period furnishing in bedroom.
Creaking floor boards
views over looking the garden
We waited 40 mins for breakfast
Great location just off the motorway but tucked away. Attentive staff, good food.
Breakfast took an age, everyone waiting for their eggs!! Can't understand why we waited 45 minutes, surely everything is pre prepared just eggs to cook?
Lovely big rooms Sunny with nice views Staff very pleasant and helpful
ceiling of the bathroom had not been painted. and there was loud drilling at 6am
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Lovely bathroom. The location was excellent for the purpose of our stay...
