Location of the hotel is excellent with ample parking and right next door to the railway station. Staff are polite and helpful and the room is of a good size, with all of the usual facilities and the bed was large enough that my feet didn't overhang the end!! Will be staying again.
Limited bar snacks, although it is a hotel, car park and driveway was not that we'll lit. Breakfast is a little pricey compared to some hotel chains and was more expensive than the website suggested £13.95 instead of £10.
Room was a good size with all that we needed. Facilities and staff friendly and polite.
Bathroom was cold as heating isolated and could have done with a upgrade. Wall slightly thin as could hear next door rooms.
The hotel was clean.Staff on the deck were polite.Good bar staff.
No heating in both bedroom and bathroom, for the duration of our stay.Unable to have a shower due to being cold(.room was very chilly to say the least ) Slow service at the breakfast table on 16th Nov 2014
the bed was confortable shame we only managed five hrs sleep on it due to the noise. The Christmas tree was lovely. the dining room was cosy.
I booked this hotel in a rural area as we had had, a long journey from wales and another long journey ahead the following day so I expected it to be quiet and peaceful. While having a relaxing drink in the bar, a drunken brawl was happening outside in which the riot squad had to be called, when we went to bed we could not sleep till after 2-00am due to the loud music coming from the night club close by. The receptionist did say sorry the next morning but we wished we had stayed elsewhere. also I think £8-99 was very expensive for a pot of stewed tea and two pieces of toast. sorry we will not be returning to your hotel in Penkridge Staffordshire.
Although the restaurant was very quiet during my visit, the meals and service were excellent Bedroom was clean and bed comfortable. Although near railway line, I was not disturbed by noise. Parking was conveniently close.
Leisure facilities are advertised, which attracted me to this hotel. However to access this it is necessary to walk around the outside of the hotel, which at night is totally unlit with no direct pathway. Once inside, the changing rooms are across a hallway from the pool entrance. The pool itself is small, old and badly needs modernization (tiles, liner, heating). Any more than one person swimming, it would be crowded. Steam room slightly better. Sauna in changing room. Disappointing facilities.
it was close to necessary location
Shabby outside appearance receptionist badly dressed - hole in clothing Strange smell in corridors Smell of cigarette smoke through communicating door throughout night No towel rails Mildewed bathroom floor No cold water or glasses Very poor paintwork in corridors Dangerous bath - no rails Very poor quality toilet paper Paper holder falling off wall Very poor quality for money Not inclined to eat there
Dirty room and en-suite Leisure facilities (pool) dirty, damaged and not as description Wi-Fi insufficient capacity and coverage Reception area dark unwelcoming and dirty
Very pleasant location surrounded by trees and gardens, but only a few minutes walk from the shops and main road. Comfortable room, tv, wifi heating etc all worked well. Very nice food in the restaurant.
Noise from trains passing, some at very high speed, could do with some decent sound-proof double glazing on that side of the hotel.
Food was good as was the bar, the gym looked good as did the pool, plenty of parking. A dog friendly hotel were you could take your dog in to the bar.
the train station was very close and you could hear the fast trains travelling through the station. Dog friendly hotel but no dog poo bins in garden areas.
the bar area allowed dogs in and room service was brilliant
nothing to dislike
From the moment you walk through the door of this hotel you are made very welcome.
TV needs tuning. Programmes kept breaking up.
Ideal location when attending Stafford. U
Rooms very basic. No hair dryer or iron. Options on a courtesy razor and toothbrush and toothpaste should be considered. I did not avail of breakfast because it was too expensive for what is provided. Instead we drove to the Shire Horse where an excellent breakfast is available at a much cheaper price.
the food was excellent
Staff Location Beds Parking
Dirty cups & spoons in room for tea and coffee making. Somewhat tired decor & condition of the fittings in the room and bathroom (shower screen & difficulty in flushing the toilet). View of the boiler room
Nice bed, quiet hotel
Bathroom was not cleaned properly
Staff were perfect and so so friendly. Going the extra mile to help us
The location was good.
The bathroom was dirty needed decorating and looked dated. The place needs updating. Staff in helpful when I checked out. My meeting was brought forward and so I couldn't have breakfast at the hotel but wasn't allowed my money back even though it was a room only tariff and I paid for breakfast separate. Won't be recommending.
First impressions from outside was that the property needs some TLC. Rooms not very clean. Quilt cover was dirty, cobweb on ceiling. Over bath shower screen leaking. Had to mop the floor up with towels after shower. Bathroom lock broken. Grubby sink and bath.
The welcome, staff willingness to help, speed at which (a good) breakfast was served, and a very comfortable bed.
Décor becoming a bit tired - in need of a bit of TLC.
Location to Boat hire company
Hotel grounds very untidy (rubbish and bits and pieces laying around)
The room was overall clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. Free wifi and small pool. Ample hangers. Big bathroom. Lovely bar area and really tasty bar food.
The hotel felt like it needed a bit of a spruce up. The room had a few faults and the walls were scuffed. The pool needed the liner sorting out and some tiles replacing around the walls.
The location was ideal for our visit . Plus the bedroom size was fantastic.
We had a breakfast which was ok. But I was charged more than what was agreed in my booking. The staff reluctant to do anything about it. But due to going to wedding couldn't pursue it further. But definitely not worthy of 13.00 per person I was charged.
Gym, friendly bar, nicely situated, convenient for station, helpful staff
Corridors a bit shabby
Night staff was very rude and unhelpful, and he even worse to a lone female traveller
Friendly and efficient staff. A comfortable bar and good restaurant. Overall good value for money and wold stay again.
WiFi: Internet access was pitifully slow to be unusable. If this is usual it will deter business customers. No real ale in the bar - shame!
