Proximity to liner terminal to meet visitors and take them to Dover castle

Booked twin bedded room with sea view but given third rate very basic stuffy room at back of hotel facing road.Uncomfortable beds. Was not contacted prior to arrival to discuss possible upgrade. Very cross at this treatment.

Decorations in public spaces were good and the staff were rushed but generally polite.

Our room was very disappointing. We had booked expecting a better quality of accommodation as we were celebrating and were dismayed to be in a tiny room where it was impossible to use the wardrobe because a cupboard was in front of it with a TV on top! Our one night was not an enjoyable or special experience.

Bathroom had not been cleaned, toilet not flushed, sloping floors, elevator not operating, difficult entry with luggage, poor food.

Risk-potential bathrooms with dangerously-high tubs instead of more accessible step-in showers.

The staff was excellent and the food was fair. The location is good and easy to find after leaving the ferry docks.

The room was perhaps the smallest I have had. Avoid room 105, there is not enough room to pass your partner without retreating to the entry area. This would be a great room for a single, not a double.

Floors - creeking and sloping. Little water pressure in shower. Shower room needs brought into 21st century. Choice of piped music.

We were kept awake most of the night by the noise of what sounded like a faulty heating system

1/ Wi-fi free but couldn't connect without staff assistance first day (rang supplier) then I couldn't connect for remaining days which marred my stay. 2/Restaurant staff asked if we would like a table booked by the window for the next night - we turned up 5 minutes before our table booking but were told there was no seat by the window available and got a given a pokey seat ?? Why ask and write it down if they can't deliver.

Very nice Hotel, a piece of history, clean and neat with a nice bar downstairs, great view over the dover seashore

Windows are not tight at all, demand the extra heater for cold and windy days

Everything was amazing for 4 star. Staff where excellent 5 star ++ Hotel great Breakfast excellent in room and resturant.

Dinner in restaurant, food needed improvement. Presentation and menu great. Food served low qualtiy. Maybe chef had an off day.

We booked the deal and it was a bargain - although the set menu was restrictive for me as I have allergies and I did feel a £5 supplement for having steak was a little steep.

Initally the room was very cold - but we turned the radiators on - this should have been done by housekeeping to at least keep the room at an ambient temperature.

Our room didn,t have a radiator in the bathroom, the floor also had several splashes of paint on it making it look like it was dirty.And the main bedroom window was single glazed and very very cold.
