Great location, friendly staff, room clean, breakfast lovely, good value for money. We have stayed many times and would stay again.
Car park a bit small but adequate, we have never had any problems parking.
The room was comfortable and clean
From the write ups and pictures one was given the impression of a fine looking hotel - but it is a pub which has a sports TV which carries on at full volume 'til 12.30 when the pub next door takes over with loud music. Not good value at all - it is a pub with a few rooms but charging hotel prices.
The location was a great base to get out and explore the Lake District. Also good for an evening for dining and drinking in Ambleside itself.
The Hotel carpark was extremely small and tight to manoeuvre in. We also struggled to get a space one evening. Although not the hotels fault our car did get a scuff/knock.
We had a top rear facing room with a great view over Ambleside. Breakfast was very good. Room tidy with a nice bed.
Our shower had no power at all. Car park very tight but the staff are a great help with any problems with your car.
Pretty much everything about the place was great especially for the price. I would come back here again without question
View from room. Sash windows. Location.
Breakfast was average. No filter coffee. No fruit, yogurt. Parking very tricky.
We had a lovely stay, everything was perfect, staff was lovely and very helpful and welcoming.
Couldn't fault anything
Good location, friendly staff, enough parking, breakfast was good, good place to have b&b in a central location, wont mind staying there again at the given price.
Everything was fair
central bar food ok
car park entrance very narrow and limited space breakfast was luke warm and very small buffet selection poor
Room clean with fresh white cotton bedding. Well tiled bathroom. Room "superior" because it was on 2nd floor, away from karaoke bar? Just as well.
Very concerned that fire procedure notice stated fire exit via room next door yet this room locked with no handle. Barman first said the room was rented out & we would have to go down to 1st floor fire exit.Later said the door would open automatically in case of fire. As doors opened by old fashioned key could not credit this. Had we not enquired we would have lost precious seconds in event of fire. Not good! Bouncer on pub door during evening. Not a good vibe.
Location was really good.
The breakfast was really bad and the coffee was even worse.
location, breakfast, rooms
car park to small
Location was perfect, nice bar with friendly helpful staff. Rooms were spotless, large and comfy. Breakfast was lovely.
Our room was directly above the bar so was a bit noisy until 11-1130. The room was extremely hot even without the radiators on and I had to sleep with the window open although it was in late October.
Young staff were totally on the ball and very professional
Beer delivery first thing Monday morning. Noise from the bar until 11pm.
The staff were excellent especially the manager.
Car parking a little tight but very secure.
The location was good and easy to find , rooms clean and friendly staff
Couldn't get wifi very well and the tv only had a couple of channels
Very friendly staff. Room was very quiet. Lovely view over Ambleside.
Tricky access to car park
location of the hotel was excellent staff were friendly, very clean and good value for money
car park very small needs some negotiation i.e entrance very narrow
good food and drink ok good atmosphere in the hotel
car parking inadequate lack of lift to top floor 76 steps from car park to room not good with heavy suitcase
The room was clean, comfortable, very good value, excellent location, parking and wifi.
The bars/restaurant were rather poor.
Rooms very clean Staff were very welcoming Central location and loads of shops in the area
Very noisy at night and were kept waken on both nights of our stay by loud music from the bar on the first night and a quiz night on the second
Rooms very clean and fresh. Everyone pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was extremely good and plenty of variety. Evening Meals were excellent value.
No Lift. Was put on top floor even though lower floor was preferred (on booking) as husband has arthritis, staff did relocate us to third floor, but I don,t miss the stairs
Bedroom and breakfast
Poor dining room without ambience and inadequate dinner menu
No service at all, staff calls you "buddy". Reservation not honored and I was sent to a neighbour lousy hotel. Lots of noise from the bar. No Wifi. Too narrow parking. House keeping not cleaning the room for 2 days, then did it when I asked for. Door looked early morning on my departure despite me announcing that on previous night. Unfriendly staff, almost yelling at me when I called an emergency contact I found in the bar to let me out. This is some of the comments. Obviously the bar is the only thing this hotel cares about. If I knew that I would have stayed in any hotel even at 30 km away if nothing else was available. A hotel to avoid at any cost.
