Excellent location. Very comfortable room. I liked the option of using a guest lounge with tv and dvd had I wanred to. Lovely breakfast.
Property was easy to find, good parking, close to a local hotel for an evening meal.
Property very cramped and the host was not a friendly person. You were not made to feel at home or welcome
The attention to detail; the rooms show individuality and charm and the cleanliness is very apparent. The food was very good and the staff friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately it took the first overnight stay to adjust to the sound of traffic in the early morning. However subsequent mornings it was not a problem
Very friendly owners Good choice at breakfast Comfy room & I liked the decor A few communal lounges which were a nice touch Good value Good pub for food just a few metres up the road
There was enough space for me to park my car but it was not very clear where to put it in the first place - there are spaces dotted around the building that you can park but I had to run in and ask. Wifi connection drops out as the B&B is in a valley. Only two very minor negative points!
We liked the Guest House and its facilities very much. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful during our stay. It was central to our requirements for visiting the area around Dorchester.
We are used to living in the countryside and did not take into consideration that the A35 would be such a busy road during the night time. Apart from this, we would not hesitate to recommend the Guest House to our friends but maybe suggesting they request a room at the back of the house, this would then be a perfect place to stay.
Fruit compote and home made marmalade
TV didn't work
Great place to stop, positioned right on the road with a few great pubs nearby (one just a stroll up the road). It could not have been easier and lovely to have the personal service.
The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. Loved very thing about the place. Wanted to stay for longer!
Situated on a very busy road. Had to have the windows shut at night. But the room had a fan so it wasn't a problem.
The breakfast was good although we had to share a table with another couple one of which wore a cap at the breakfast table, .
Sharing a table at breakfast. Up to flights of stairs into the roof for bedroom. Extremely noisy at front , main A350 road. Hardly got any sleep. Not enough space in the bedroom. It should have been a single.
Location is perfect for sightseeing the area. Dorchester is close by and this was a better option, good breakfast, hosts accommodating and helpful. The house is period with winding halls and stairs, very quaint, if you want a traditional cottage this is for you.
On a very busy road, nothing other than the pub in Winterbourne Abbas but good pub meal offered.
Loved the old house with its creaky floorboards! Very comfortable stay we had and the breakfasts were delicious with lots of choice.
Parking was a bit of a hazard as the house is on a busy main road but we managed!
Breakfast Attractive cottage
Breakfast times only 8 to 9am. Cramped room. Noisy room on to main A35 with window open. Stuffy room with window closed. 1980s bathroom with non-regulation standard ceiling light. Should be Zone 3 lighting
A perfect place to stay in this area. It had a lovely cosy cottagey feel and our room was really nice and comfortable with an en-suite shower and facilities and the room was cleaned and "made over" every day.. We were on the back and overlooked nice gardens. The breakfast was great and the owners and staff really friendly with lots of local knowledge and advice. With a pub just down the road for the evening meal what more could you want?
Nothing to not like
The friendliness and cleanliness.
The parking regulations imposed by necessity due to lack of parking space available to the number of guests.
food was excellent proprietors very friendly
We were en route to South Devon and wanted to break the journey so picked Churchview as the location was great, they are dog friendly, reasonable price and good reviews on this website. Turned out to be a great choice. We were met by lovely friendly owner and shown to our twin room. It was tiny but very sweet and quieter as at the back of the hotel. Our dog was made very welcome which is always nice. Breakfast was lovely , especially the home made fruit compote and marmalade. In fact we asked if we could buy a jar of the marmalade which the owners managed to rustle up for us. We left happy and were straight back onto the A38 to continue our journey. ( N.B the location on the A35 was a positive rather than a negative for us as it was slap bang en route !).
Service and food were excellent. Hosts were very friendly.
Traffic noise early in morning . Windows we're open because of heat
Was dog friendly. Had information of local pubs even dog friendly ones. Plenty for breakfast. Very clean room and bathroon.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, where nothing was too much trouble. The gluten-free breakfast was excellent as was the normal breakfast. Being able to park off-road was very useful as was being able to come & go without having to worry about dropping off or collecting keys.
Breakfast time being limited to between 8 am & 9 am which meant we had to hurry down, where a bit of a lay-in would have been appreciated, especially on a Sunday. 8 am to 10 am would have been more flexible. Having advised of a requirement for a gluten-free diet it was disappointing that there were no gluten-free snacks, such as a bit of fruit, available in the bedroom.
Great staff couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely breakfast and nice Room. Thank ypu for calling me to retrieve the dress I left behind !!
Bit noisy but then is right a fairly main road
Breakfast and setting
Too close to road.
Good food Friendly staff
Main road traffic (not accom fault)
Enjoyed the whole experience. Lovely area.
What was not to like? Comfortable. Lovely garden. Great breakfast. Good hosts. Pleasant village. Lots of history.
The traffic on the A35!
