Surrounded by beautiful Devonshire countryside, The Globe Inn has a traditional restaurant with exposed stone walls and an open fireplace.
Score from 197 reviews Excellent 8.9/10
Perched at the top of a hill, The Robin Hill is a charming bed and breakfast in the heart of the seaside town of Torquay.
Score from 35 reviews Wonderful 9.1/10
This superior 2-star hotel is in the heart of Torquay, just a short walk from the seafront and right next to the English Riviera Conference Center.
Score from 430 reviews Very good 8.3/10
Rowcroft Lodge has a super quiet location overlooking Goodrington Park with clear views from the balcony to the sea, and Brixham in the distance.
Score from 87 reviews Excellent 8.7/10
Very friendly staff, wonderful luxury rooms. I great breakfast to start the day. Surrounding and peaceful and picturesque. Would defiantly stay there again.
A litre too expensive
Location to wedding venue Breakfast, food good and hot Sausages very nice All well cooked Tea and coffee in room Wifi probably useful but didn't use it Nice garden
Dark room, bathroom even darker despite light over sink- almost impossible to apply make up. A chair in the room would have been useful. Quite noisy with slamming doors and creaking floors, abated reasonably early until the early risers got up!! Huge bags of laundry? Piled at the top of the stairs. Carpets tired. Do not like pepper and would prefer not to have this already put on my fried egg when it arrived.
lunch in the garden fabulous, comfy leather sofas in bar, lovely rooms very clean, lovely bathroom. Great dinner.
Poor water pressure but older building so understandable. Breakfast tables and cutlery seen better days
The age and ambience of the building which dated back to the 11c. The food both in the restaurant and the bar was superb. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel'location in proximity to Brixham was great. Lots of parking in the grounds.
We were in room 6 "Elizabeth 1". The bathroom which was a new addition to the old building had not been thought through. A bath had been installed with a shower attachment over but it was impossible to use the shower because of the sloping roof and the side wall unless you knelt down in the bath. There was also trip hazards both in the bathroom and as you entered the bedroom. The furniture was ill-positioned making it difficult to get around the bed and also for plugging the kettle in (this had to be moved from its location on the table to the other side of the room to use a floor socket. It was a dual aspect room with a potential lovely outlook but the windows were covered in creeper and foilage so you could not see out. The grounds were also in need of a bit of a tidy up.
age of property
very poor wifi even in bar area. dirty and run down
Gorgeous building...steeped in history and very atmospheric. Lovely bathroom and extremely comfortable bed. Excellent dinner and breakfast.Lovely staff.
Our room was above the kitchen with a fairly noisy extractor fan. However, it was turned off by 10.30pm and not on again until around 8am, so it disturbed us very little.
Excellent staff Hotel full of character. Peaceful country location, but within easy reach of Brixham. Lovely walks close by.
Outside seating areas and gardens.
Front door was still locked early in the morning so you couldn't exit the building as the key wasn't available . Not ideal from a Health and Safety aspect.
Good location for visiting Greenway by steam train and Coleton Fishacre. Excellent breakfast in historic surroundings.
The wisteria around the windows needed a trim as it made the room very dark. Bath rather difficult to get out of.
The 15th or 16th century feel of the place. Excellent Cornish beer on tap.
We had a lovely welcome to this delightful inn, our room was spacious with a super en-suite, good food too, what more could we ask!
Totally loved the place, very quirky . Had meal in the restaurant and the food was first class, got upgraded on arrival to four poster room so we were very pleased. Def want to go there again.
Food Stunning room Service
Wonderful place, so interesting, like something out of the Adam's Family. They told us it was haunted too! Restaurant was excellent with lovely, fresh food. Would recommend. Will be visiting again.
My only complaint from a wonderful stay was the kitchen flue which was outside my bedroom window and buzzed until 11pm and again from 8am for breakfast. Avoid room 9.
Liked the location and the nooks and crannies for exploring. Breakfast was good and tasty and the staff were attentive and pleasant.
Our room was rather small and seemed a little damp even though it was warm outside. Bathroom was bright and new but cramped by the toilet. Lighting was poor with only a central chandelier and one table lamp.
Low pressure in shower
Staff were polite a cordial. Checking in and out efficient. Food was of high quality - Breakfasts and one evening meal.
Delay in serving breakfast (over 30 minutes). Main areas clean but more remote areas not so clean. such as window sills very dusty with long dead flies.
The Inn was in good location, bar etc was very quirky, room was great, had good friendly atmosphere, food was good, but menu little limited, would go back,
Don't stay in room 19. No phone signal, no view, room like and oven as small window and no circulation of air. Bathroom also very small I have stayed at Churchston before and other rooms have been much better
Not able to buy tobacco in bar
The hotel had lots of character. The rooms were large and very clean. The staff were friendly. The hotel is supposed to be haunted and certainly did make you think a bit! The location is lovely and we went for a walk to nearby Elbury Cove. Great place for a weekend or overnight stay or just for a drink.
At breakfast we were not offered a "vegetarian" version of a cooked breakfast so as I could not eat the sausages, bacon or black pudding there was not a lot left!!! Food was hot though and there was cereal and toast.
Love the character décor, history, especially the superior bedrooms. Everything great and enjoyable, always good atmosphere, friendliness, everyone very welcoming, comfortable, good food, cant ask for more
Cant think of anything we didn't like. A swimming pool would be nice.
Ambience, food, staff
The shower head moved, and thus was not very user friendly.
Very interesting historical property with loads of authentic character. Nice rural location close to coastal towns.
No hair dryer in room and the electrical outlets were a bit inaccessible. Surprising as the bathroom was newly refurbished. Also no wifi in room but available in common areas.
