Great location, not too far from the tube station, and with a great sports bar downstairs. The in-room décor and facilities were great for the price, given the location.
No frills. The décor in the communal areas feels a bit shabby and dated.
I liked the location close to Brick Lane and Spitalfields on a fairly quiet road. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean.
I didn't like the loud TV noise coming from the room of another guest late at night but felt too tired to complain, so I pulled the bedclothes over my ears and went back to sleep. Wish I'd remembered my ear plugs.
Very thin walls! We could hear anyone walking down the corridor.
Decent price compared to other hotels in the area. I asked to be on the top floor as I knew they had decent views from there, which was worth while. Overall no complaints.
... for a bed in town to crash after the office xmas party it was fit for purpose.
My room (415) was next to the left/generator which periodically got a bit noisy throughout the night. The bathroom needs a refit and there was either no hot water or too much for the mixer shower to cope with.
Good location near a tube station
Stay regularly. This time stayed the usual two nights the room was not cleaned. Bath panel hanging off. Staff did not suggested any discount for disappointing stay . Rooms were expensive this time compared to others so not very impressed
Room was grubby ie stained walls, doors , bath very dirty Needs updating ! the wood around base bed dangerous and very noisey from bar ! No hot water in morning for shower noisey boiler all night room 100
two separate rooms for the family room
We could not get the heating to work and the rooms were cold, i actually wore my husbands jumper and thick socks as i sat in the room and then slept in them.
A really big comfortable room with a sofa, coffee table, somewhere to sit and work, and a good shower. The price was little more than some of the awful cramped basement rooms I have had elsewhere in the area. The staff were very friendly.
Friendly staff, views from bedroom window, the Shard, Gurgin etc.
Took ages to run a bath and then the water was'nt very hot. Difficult to find hotel, not very well advertised.
Beds were comfortable. Great location. Staff were very helpful
Very expensive. Advertised as junior suite and it was just am average room
location near the city, the bar, did waht we needed (3 separate beds and a place to crash)
room smelt a bit musty, not the most comfortable bed
staff were very helpful and attentive
room had vague smell of smoke
room, cleanliness, comfy bed, lots of room. Hotel Bar great, comfortable and great food
No sky in room, no BBC 1
Room was tired and grubby
Great location, clean, good breakfast.
Needs a better sign. Drove past it twice before seeing it, although that could be I'm getting old!
It was so easy to get to the directions on the web page are spot on. Staff at the hotel were very pleasant when ever we reqired anything they were happy to help.. Would recommend this hotel to my friends. It is near to all the Asian food shops and there is a local masjid with in walking distance ..
The only thing I would say the cleaning staff were not as helpful .. We had to ask for our bedsheets to be changed as there were not done everyday
- central location, close to tube station - spacious room - reactive and helpful staff - good quality wlan - lively area with lots of restaurants - splendid view of the London skyline
- expensive breakfast - water pressure was a bit low
We used the hotel as a base for our weekend in London. Well positioned for exploring Brick Lane on a Sunday.
Shower arrangement useless.
The hotel is central to the East End making Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston, and Spitalsfield very walkable. The staff were very welcoming and engaged.
The room was tired. The furnishings definitely past their best by date. The bathroom in particular had grime between the tiles and the fittings hadn't been cleaned properly. (Room 407) The walls are very thing which meant that I was privy to what my neighbours on both sides were saying and doing until they fell asleep.
Location and cost is great
Bad smell from the carpet at corridor Room size is small Noice at night
Location to tube
As a young family, when staying at a hotel, we expect night one noise in the hotel at a minimum. Our stay at City Hotel was terrible. We had a group of young girls next door and across the hall from us, they woke us at regular intervals during the night, shouting and laughing. We rang the hotel reception twice as our little girl was woken 3 times by the noise outside of our room. The first receptionist was quite impolite and told us it was just a group checking in and that they'd settle soon - this was 10:30 pm. On the second occasion, around 11:30, a male receptionist answered who assured us that he would ask the guests to quieten down. However, we was woken several times after this. We were concerned as we had brought our child away as a birthday treat and her f
squelchy carpet outside of bathroom door! Might have resulted from undried cleaning (did not stain the towel I covered it with). I would stay there again.
