Overlooking Douglas Bay on the Isle of Man, this hotel has a piano bar, a health club, and a large conservatory that features panoramic sea views.
Score from 319 reviews Good
With the Isle of Man’s only licensed casino, Best Western Palace Hotel is on the Victorian Promenade, overlooking Douglas Bay. It features 2 restaurants and a health club with an indoor pool.
Score from 400 reviews Good
On Queens Promenade, overlooking Douglas beach, the Rutland Hotel is just 10 minutes’ walk from the Manx Museum and TT Grandstand. Most rooms have sea views and some have balconies.
Score from 95 reviews Very good
Overlooking the magnificent Douglas Bay, this beautifully refurbished hotel is ideally located in the heart of Douglas, the island’s capital, just a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
Score from 254 reviews Very good
The location of the hotel is ideal for the promenade and access to the centre of Douglas. The breakfast was excellent and staff very helpful.
Our room unfortunately was close to a generator or something and there was a constant droning noise which disturbed us through the night , but I do realise that some rooms have to have noise, its unavoidable.
Decoration, space, location and restaurant
Lovely modern feel the hotel sand the rooms had great accessories such as docking station and blu ray. Enormous bathroom too! very large comfy beds and an excellent restaurant
Great Breakfast Great location. Helpful friendly staff
Bathroom was a bit rough round the edges. No view, all three sides of room looked onto a brick wall 6ft from window. Not worth £120 a night out of season.
Being on the main promenade, you can't go wrong for location. I've stayed in several hotels there but this is probably better maintained and has a better lobby/lounge area than most of the other B&B's along that line so wouldn't mind staying again.
Sink in the bathroom was ridiculous. First there was no mixer just 2 separate taps so in the freezing weather you either had too hot or ice cold water. On top of that the taps were too small for the sink. Whoever put this together didn't do a very good job.
single room was large, food was excellent & hotel well situated
room very warm but no air conditioning controls could open window but noisy from air con units
Everything , my favourite in Douglas.
The price boomerangs depending upon what time of year, so I can only stay there at quiet times. Shame because I really rate this hotel.
just a wonderful clean stylish place with an opulent atmosphere
Lovely hotel, would highly recommend staying here.
Rooms were a little bit warm!!!
I travel to the Isle of Man about once a month and stay at the Claremont when the price is right. I find the staff are always extremely helpful and friendly. It must be The Claremont's best feature. Good location and parking is usually quite easy.
Extractor fans on outside of suite at rear of hotel continuos 24/7. Suite 311 also had food smells & we were forced to move rooms. We were offered eye plugs
The Hotel was well presented and check in was smooth and fast. Our breakfast food was excellent. If we stayed again it wouldn't be in a sea view we would opt for a rear facing room.
Our room 207,seemed to be located on a very busy corridor. I had to go out at 7.00am and remind a member of staff that we were still sleeping, he was moving box's of bottled water from the store room to the area just outside our room !!!! The room has no air con, but a small fan is supplied. Our evening meal was ok, my line caught cod was tasteless, my husbands haddock & chips was delicious. There was black hair all over the dressing table & on the bathroom floor. Don't leave the windows open at night as you wont sleep due to the busy road on the front. The breakfast was excellent, but the service is hit & miss with the staff forgetting butter, milk etc. No brown bread or toast on 1st morning,it was available on the following morning. The newspaper we ordered was not delivered. The room we stayed in we both feel wasn't worth the large amount we paid.
Breakfast Cleanliness Location
The style and decor
The bed was squeaky
Situation and room comfort
Cold water tap produced hot water for a good while before cooling down.
Good location, helpful staff and general cleanliness.
Enjoyed breakfast, but very limited menu for lunch/dinner.
Boutique style hotel, probably one of the best hotels in Douglas
Room was a bit on the small side, particularly with all our biking gear.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Sea view was wonderful. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was delicious, difficult decision between pancakes and kippers! Husband loved the manx breakfast.
It took well over an hour for them to get the heating going when I complained about it being cold. I made a second call to reception before the heating came on.
Location was very good, the breakfast was very good as well, the price was good as well, the staff were very helpful as well,it was a good hotel for the price,go for a room at the front,
The room was small,it needs updating a bitour room had a view of the backyard
Excellent hotel. Highly recommend booking a Buisness Club room with sea view if you can-outstanding comfort and facilities. Huge bed with tempur mattress which was amazingly comfortable. The lady receptionist was very welcoming, she even checked in our return flights on line and printed our boarding cards for us. Breakfast was very tasty with standard cereals etc followed by the hotels Manx breakfast-definitely a must do!!
The only slight downside we had was the seating area in our room. Considering that the rest of the room facilities were fantastic this was a let down, the seats themselves were reasonably comfortable but the fact that they were 'crammed' into the bay window together with two overlapping tables made for little foot room and lots of stepping over the tables!
Friendly staff, modern, clean spacious rooms
A little hot and sticky due to lack of air conditioning
Room very warm with no air conditioning and a less than lovely view of a a rather unpleasant and quite noisy back alley. Window also overlooked fire escape so could not be left open. Service was not very good, wrong drinks brought, essential items at breakfast not supplied, pretty slow service etc. Overall overpriced and underwhelming!
The Coast Restaurant has a very high of cuisine with a stunning view of the bay.
Room looked a little "tired" especially the bathroom. Cannot be helped but didn't like the view of 2 cement walls.
