Our room was absolutely beautiful. There was a balcony with stunning views of the garden, fresh milk for tea and coffee, complementary chocolates and the world’s comfiest bed.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ate in the restaurant once which was delicious but expensive.

The area itself is amazing, loads of pubs, bars and restaurants around all offering various meals, I would book in advance for most of them to avoid disappointment.
Pitch & putt really good or mini golf for families.

Beautiful town and friendly people.
Beautiful town and friendly people. We ate lunch three times (in four days!) at Fresher's Café and really enjoyed the food (obviously). They have their own delicious home-made quiches. I am sure this has to be the friendliest place to eat in the Lake District. Special mention to Michael, who was super helpful and humorous.
On the day we did not eat there, we went next door! To the Great North Pie Co and I had the best steak and ale pie I have ever had. It was served on mashed potato, with mushy peas and onion gravy.

Perfect town to stay at if seeking a base in Lake District.
Perfect town to stay at if seeking a base in Lake District. We didn’t have a car and honestly had no need for one as it was easy to reach by train and had plenty of local busses - including hikes that start at centre of town. Enough dining options and overall “village” feeling without it being too busy or too quiet / isolated. Traveled as a couple so cannot comment on appropriateness if a family

Ambleside is a perfect location , lots of shops , bars/pubs , restaurants and choice of accommodation . Transport was easy to use , boat trips to the different lakes and frequent busses . Dog friendly in most places.
The location was perfect, just a minutes walk into the centre of Ambleside, with parking directly outside the property. The views from the apartment were amazing. Check in was very easy picking the keys up on arrival from outside the apartment. The owner, Dave, was available at all times if needed and was very welcoming. The bottle of Prosecco on arrival was also a lovely added touch. Would definitely return in the near future.
Location perfect and central. Car parking permit given on check in and a real money saver for loads of locations. Staff super friendly and amazing, service with a smile and a real personal touch. Breakfast was incredible and set you up for the day, please get the mushrooms! Dry/boot room perfect for the wet days. Dog friendly in room, hotel and breakfast restaurant. Will definitely return, for the staff alone, so nice!
Everything to the check in, room, breakfast, carparking, the wonderful staff, location, and most important very very dog friendly, the best dog friendly hotel Rach and i have stopped in. I must pass comment on all the staff, friendly loved dogs and very professional, well done you all are a credit to Fisherbeck. Rach, Patch and i loved Fisherbeck that much that we have rebooked for the beginning of june 2023
Great location and great accommodation for the price. We booked last minute and chose Ambleside Central as there wasn't much available unless you wanted to pay an extortionate amount. To be honest we weren't expecting it to be very good but it was perfect for us. It's basic accommodation but very clean and comfortable. Parking was also included. We were really impressed and would definitely stay again.
Location, hotel reception was very helpful, restaurant was very good with a doggie menu which I found was a nice touch, breakfast had a good selection and the Skelwith grill was exceptional. My room was comfortable but located on the top floor were I found the stairs hard for me to navigate at my age. Furniture is quite dated but understandable for a budget hotel. overall I rate the hotel four star.
The hotel has been fully refurbished and remodelled since we last stayed here in 2019. It was good before but is great now. The decor and layout downstairs is excellent. Food was excellent quality and good value. Our room was a good size, very well equipped and quiet. The hotel has a great location by the lake and is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Ambleside.
A superb short stay at this hotel.
Staff are very attentive and friendly: They are very dog friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our doggie loved the sausages in the morning!
I would recommend this hotel and will definitely be returning.
The hotel was very nice, the staff were extremely helpful, very dog friendly, lovely location, we would stay their again, food was very good, our dog got a sausage for breakfast every morning and helped a very nervous dog relax.
This is a lovely dog friendly hotel. The staff were very warm and welcoming. It was great being able to just walk down stairs to the restaurant, and it’s right in the centre of Ambleside.
Location great, in middle of Ambleside but quiet. Had parking space. House had everything you need and was lovely and warm and very comfortable. Even had a table tennis table.
the staff were just more than amazing and welcoming. it is located in the central area of Ambleside and the breakfast was more than enough and more than perfect
