It's in the middle of the centre. spacious room for family with small kid(s), modern bathroom, excellent breakfast and warm welcoming couple.
Availability permitting we always stay at Claremont House. Clean, comfortable, run by a lovely couple who cook a great breakfast.
The hosts were most hospitable and helpful with excellent local knowledge. The room was very clean and well stocked. Breakfast was traditional and plentiful!
The location was fantastic local to the town centre, made to feel welcome and nothing too much trouble. The breakfast was great so much that it filled us up until tea time.. The room was spacious bright and clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Having to leave
Being in the heart of Ambleside, a gem of a town with excellent restaurants, bars and cafes, it was a good base to explore the South Lakes area from. Nice walks literally on your doorstep, you can be walking in the fells within minutes. Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We hope to return next year.
From the moment Dave welcomed us it was a great stay. Dave and Angie were always available but without being intrusive Breakfast is the best I've ever had.....freshly cooked and hot.
The owners of this B&B have obviously worked hard to build a strong reputation and it's easy to see why. In addition to a great location right next to Ambleside's bars, shops and restaurants, my wife and I were very impressed with the clean and well-equipped rooms, a tasty breakfast and most of all with the hosts themselves. We received great recommendations for things to see and do in the local area and were pointed in the direction of fantastic places to eat and drink in the town. Indeed the places we visited all had lovely things to say about Claremont House - this sense of community was something in abundance in Ambleside and is one of the main reasons we intend to visit again. Look no further for a place to stay if you are visiting soon!
Breakfast is very good.
We loved everything about Claremont House and will definitely be returning next time we're in Ambleside. The owners were wonderfully friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts were great. Excellent location right in the heart of town.
The location was excellent and the owners couldn't have been more helpful even to the point of sorting out our parking for us. Breakfast was lovely and there were plenty of places for dinner close by.
Two of us shared a twin room but we only had one key - a problem when we went separate ways.
Dave and his breakfast and his local knowledge (restaurants, walks, travel routes) - all really helpful. All in all, a really comfortable stay after a hard day's walk.
Everything is excellent. Clean and charming room, tasty breakfast, helpful staff and good location!
Property was in centre of town with parking on street. Room (No.2) was large with huge bed and en suite facilities. Angie & Dave were very welcoming and offered valuable advice on making the most of our stay. Breakfasts were unbelievable and set us up for the days activities. Will definately stay here again next time we visit the Lake District,
Having to leave!
Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Friendly and informative hosts. Excellent breakfast. Convenient location to the town.
Cannot think of anything we did not like.
The owners were very friendly & did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was very good & the room was kept clean
The Claremont is in a fantastic location just on the edge of Ambleside town centre, in easy reach of shops and restaurants. Your hosts Dave and Angie are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. We were in room 6 which is a family room at the top of the house and thus was comfy and had a dab shower. Breakfasts are seriuosly good and piping hot. All in all this is the perfect place to stay.
Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff
Staff were very friendly, location was great, lots of places to eat nearby. Breakfast in the morning was lovely. An all round lovely stay.
Our hosts were wonderful, providing an excellent breakfast, and lots of helpful advice for our stay. We were able to leave our car in a nearby street with a parking permit for the whole time we were there. Good wi fi and mobile coverage.
It is on a very busy road, part of the one way system through Ambleside. The front bedroom had a bit of traffic noise but it didn't go on very late. It's hard to find anything really that we didn't like!
Great location and a good base for exploring the local area. Lovely owners - friendly, hospitable and helpful (they know the area very well and have great tips and ideas for things to see and do). Very well run business. Nice and clean. Excellent breakfasts.
Dave and Angela were absolutely lovely, nothing was too much trouble The rooms were lovely and clean and breakfast was very nice Would definitely recommend and stay again
Great location, Ambleside is a lovely little town and Claremont House is an easy 3-4 min walk to restaurants etc. the B&B was lovely an the rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. Wish I could've stayed another night at least.
Very friendly and like the deco
The couple running the B & B were friendly and helpful.
Parking can be quite a problem especially when you arrive and want to check in. Car parks were all full and you can only park for one hour on any street from10am to 6pm.
We booked this place at the last minute and so didn't exactly know what to expect. We were warmly greeted on arrival. Apologies were given for our room in that it was on the top floor but we didn't mind as it was the last one left. It was clean and cosy with a nice view of the rear of the property. The husband and wife team who run Claremont House were very friendly and helpful. There was free car parking available which is good in Ambleside. The freshly cooked breakfast was very good. We live I Australia and toured for 7 weeks staying in many different locations...this was one of the best and was a very reasonable price too . [Andy of Gosford, NSW, Australia]
I genuinely cannot think of anything I did not like about Claremont House. My wife Carolyn also is full of praise for the place.
