Tired room. Noisy room over entrance.
Breakfast . good
Needs some decoration to hotel
The staff, very friendly.
The room was filthy, there was cobwebs all over the window and curtains. There was dust everywhere which meant a long night as we are both allergic to dust. The bed sheets were clean however the bed was lumpy, the pillows were hard and lumpy. The bathroom was clean but dated. The food was horrendous, the black pudding was like rubber. The staff were lovely.
The staff were very helpful and eager to assist me as I am disabled. They were very keen to ensure I had help with my luggage and four wheeled walking frame.
There were no facilities for disabled guests. I found it difficult as there was no lift, I had to climb two flights of stairs with just my walking stick and walk along a slope before reaching my room. I also had nothing to hold onto whilst I had a shower.
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Food is fantastic, slept very well, great value for money
That I'm not going up to Scotland for a month, will be staying here again
Only stayed 1 night. Large spacious room. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. Would stay again if I was in the area.
The staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good.
The water pressure! the shower was not good but there is little that can be done about this.
The staff was very helpful. We had to leave early before the full breakfast to go to edinburgh airport, but a very nice young man was there early to make us toast and set out a lovely assortment of cereal, etc
It is a very old, tired hotel, on a very busy road. It had a huge flight of stairs we had to drag our luggage up to get to our room. The hall was very noisy with people coming and going. Maybe because it was a Friday night?
The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was good. Plenty of car parking
I would like to have a plug in the bathroom sink. Bed was ok but had an aching back after a nights sleep. Sound insulation between rooms not the best.
Friendly staff and made you feel like part of the community. Not central to activities but glad we stayed there and really not that far to Falkirk.
Decor could do with a spruce up. Felt sorry for receptionist working in such a dark confined office space. Not very inviting we walked straight past it
The breakfast was very good. Inside, the architecture of the entrance hall has some beautiful old features.
The room needed renovation, new wallpaper, and the television did not work.
I was very disappointed with the burger I had for dinner. I felt the staff were overworked, doing too many jobs at once.
food was good, staff friendly and helpful
I booked 2 rooms, my parents travelled with my daughter and I, their room was lovely; large, lovely furniture, big bay window, clean and tidy (carpet needed changing) where as the room (room 8) we had was small, old fashioned and a bit run down; marks on the wall, old furniture and the en suite had black mould patches on the ceiling-no fan in the en suite. however, based on the other room, I would say go to the hotel, but not room 8-it cost the same as my parents...
Fantastic restaurant in Alloa called Bar Alfroda
Our friends room had two single beds no walldrobe just a hanging rail wall paper peeling, if my husband had been shown this room he would not have stayed our room had stains on the carpet bathroom shower was tiny and dirty.
Nothing staff friendly
Poor decoration (scruffy). No lock on bathroom door. Bed moved every time I sat on it. No where to put anything on the side. Wires hanging from TV and extensions all hanging. No sleep as live music below thump thump thump all night until 1am. Not good for tired travellers with a long journey the next day. On booking you should be sent an email informing you of live music so that you can cancel if it does not suit you. Could only open one window the other would not open. Bathroom door did not shut.I would never stay here again.
Friendly Staff Good Breakfast and evening meal
Seen better days but okay
the staff were friendly helpful and the facilities clean.
I was the only female guest as the hotel seemed to be used by business/workmen and I didnt know this until breakfast. Also doors were heavyand not spring loaded therefore a lot of thumping and banging from 6am onwards.
The staff were really lovely, friendly and helpful.
The room was dirty. There was a big splodge of something on the bathroom floor. The bathroom door did not shut. The legs of the bed were broken and so I felt I was sleeping on a dip and when my partner turned the bed up to try and fix the legs, under the bed had not been hovered and he was covered in fluff. The plug socket for the television was suspended in mid air hanging from the television stand.
Enjoyed a couple of days here. The staff were very helpful, and sorted me out a vegetarian meal when I arrived and an early breakfast the next day. Good beer in the bar downstairs. Comfortable room, nothing flashy. But there was a great view of the mountains once it stopped raining!
The weekend breakfast times are quite late!
Venue had a private party and noise level extremely load till 01.00 o'clock in the morning. And smell of smoke coming from bar area very strong.
It was very convenient for the train into Glasgow as we were attending the Commonwealth Games. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel requires a good deal of updating but it was very clean.
The staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
Room 9 was very spacious and comfortable. Bathroom has both a bath and separate shower cubicle. We were advised at time of booking about evening functions at weekends, there was extra noise but not excessive. Room 7 was smaller and sold as a single, but still had comfortable double bed. This room did not have a bath, just a shower. Breakfast was good each morning with a selection of cooked, cereal, toast, yoghurts and fresh fruit. Staff were helpful and friendly.
