Welcoming staff and quirky and pleasantly decorated hotel offering great value in a superb location.
Car park a little tight for larger cars and swimming pool not available for children.
Food delicious staff very friendly and rooms clean
Further away from centre of town
Excellent staff, very warm welcome couldnt do enough for you. Walking distance to town. Breakfast in morning was very good and a wide choice .
We arrived at 6.30pm after nearly 4 hrs of driving and were very Hungary but their restaurant didnt open until 8pm so we had to walk into town which is a pity because the restaurant looked great.
The breakfasts were delicious and well prepared. We particularly liked that we could get our own coffee right away wiithout waiting for the waitress.
i think the lack of an elevator is a draw-back.
Hotel in a quiet square within walking distance of town attractions. Reasonable free private parking. Good food at breakfast and dinner. Spacious room (14) with sofa and chairs.
No lift, several flights of stairs to negotiate. Room 14: toilet cistern leaks into bowl, so continually refills during the night. No shelves in bathroom. One spot in shower needs repositioning. (May all be fixed now).
Staff friendly, helpful and good fun - making a lovely atmosphere. The food in Joules and the breakfast = v good. Shops 10 min walk away. Free parking at hotel. I would certainly use this great little find again
Decor a bit sad we were on top floor and fire exit was through another bedroom and we were not told how this worked as obviously the person with that room would have had it locked.
great all round. great location and good value
Free parking, evening meals were very good.
First days breakfast was excellent second days was very poor.
Great room, decent sized TV, breakfast.
Waitress was nice but amateurish.
The staffs are friendly, helpful and kind. We also tried the restaurant and it was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is also excellent, with various choice of continental and full-quality English breakfast. Location is quite close to the city centre (10-15 mins walk) especially close to the Brewery centre which has a gym and numerous restaurants.
The hotel does not really meet the 4 stars standard as it claims on this website. It is rather a small hotel, I could say just about 3 stars. We booked a small double room which included breakfast, around £94 per day on two weekdays (not even weekend). We had expected the room was a bit more comfortable and luxurious...However as it turns out the room is really really small, it is difficult to even move around. And the bed was a small double bed, not even as big as the bed at a low priced B&B. The furnitures are mix of conveniently cheap modern styles, which don't really match with the overall theme of the hotel. I didn't have a good sleep in my small double room, after all. In my opinion I would not pay that much for the same room again.
Our room was over and adjacent to the flat room of the kitchen area. This was a leisure break, and we were awoken by the kitchen noises (not admittedly excessive) long before 7 each morning. Breakfast was served between 7 and 9 during the week, so I can see where this is coming from. However, on a leisure break, I would have preferred a later breakfast, and not to have been awoken before 7.
Breakfast and service at breakfast. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff.
Decor, carpets, pictures - tired and rather shabby. Bedroom suffered from co ndensation (poor shower fan); sash window frame was discoloured by mould; only the bottom half of the window opened. On first night TV burst into life without warning at 1 a.m. and again at 9 a.m. next day.
Staff. Breakfast. Rooms. Beds. Location.
Location - away from the centre so quiet but near enough to walk in (15 mins) Very helpful staff Delicious breakfasts - cooked to order
Lovely place to stay.
Location. Restaurant. Staff. A great quiet place to stay within walking distance of the centre of Cheltenham.
Easy to locate with pleasant gardens nearby. Receptionist pleasant & knowledgeable about local area. Clean well-laid out room with large comfy bed. Coffee bar offers good range of drinks(including De-caf coffees.
Carpets & some of the fittings had seen better days. Excess coffee-bar furniture storage at front of the hotel a little off-putting.
A converted house, so the room layout was not ideal, but it did have some character. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast, both English and continental, was outstanding, and made this a very good value.
Location, excellent breakfast, good service, lovely old building.
I found that the room was a bit small for me and my luggage, so would not choose such a small room again. The steep stairs were a bit difficult for me with a heavy suitcase.
Lack of Lift
Friendly staff and large ground floor room.
Poor standard of finish to bathroom. Shower pressure poor early evening but ok early morning. Should work ok even at busy periods.
A great hotel in a brilliant location for the town centre. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. We would stay here again.
There is nothing I didn't like.
The location is good. The bathroom in our room was new
Very old inside, needs to be redecorated, but it could be acceptable if it was clean.the cleaning was very poor especially in the common areas. We stayed there three days and the floor of the breakfast room was filthy. The main entrance when you arrive leaves you very disappointed. Staff not too kind. Average breakfast. Doesn't meet the requirements of a 4 star hotel
A great stay.
Friendly staff, good location, great breakfast,
power cut in the morning
