The staff were so helpful & the facilities great. Dinner was excellent with a quality menu and cooked to perfection
Grate beed and nice look
The chef were properly given a night of since the food was close to not eatable. No deviations from the menu were to think of it was just something they did not do! The breakfast were not even worth eating. The information were poor when arriving on what you should pay for and what you had included. You felt not as a guest but as a problem.
Liked the character of the building. Good dinner and breakfast. Helpful and pleasant staff.
We had to ask for tables in the relaxed seating area to be cleared of tea crockery, champagne bottles and glasses etc. Some tables remained uncleared for several hours! We had to go looking for barman for bar service.
The hotel is a beautiful place with a lot of character with rooms that have everything you need
Nothing the hotel is excellent
Lovely large Executive double room-good tea and coffee making facilities and nice touches of chocolates and fruit. Staff friendly and helpful. Great food in the restaurant.
Lovely historic building, staff - especially restaurant staff (Polly) were excellent. The food is amazing.
We booked a double room and ended up with two single beds pushed together which had a hard ridge up the middle - obviously. Just so uncomfortable. Could be so much better, it just feels like the hotel is 'ticking over'. Must try harder Mercure.....
The venue is stunning
The food is really expensive
Lovely big family room
Was At times on the cold side
history and character of the buildings, real open fire and quality of the evening meal
breakfast was a little average
our room was too noisy and had an awful sleep
location, bedroom, staff
We were only there for one night and we would love to go back and upgrade to the oldest part of the hotel. The room was clean and fresh and the bed was very comfortable.
The staff, food, location,
The room smelt musty and the paintwork was scruffy, the lampshades on bedside tables very tatty, and the bathroom was well presented but freezing cold.
Beautiful hotel, reasonable sized room, located in a lovely area.
Wardrobe was right infront of the door as you walk in, did not give a good first impression. Could hear the neighbours door banging many times as they were going in and out.
- comfortable bed - complimentary ice buckets - good enough Wi-Fi - high level of management
- The bar/lounge and not have comfortable eating area - it was quite noisy at times with people showering and floorboards creaking etc.
For us the location was excellent, and the evening meal was particularly good.
It was a cold weekend, so we had to get muffled up to go across from our room to the main building! This should be a 4* hotel, but is let down by lack of attention to details eg stylish new fittings had been introduced to the en suite, but the old screw holes not filled in. Few facilities.
The antique furnishing and whole history of the place was really lovely and the view over the lake was beautiful. The bar meal we had was excellent. The breakfast was also good but we only had one the first morning as it was very expensive and wasn t included in the cost.
We were booked into an executive room which we did not get despite asking reception to check we were in the correct room. After we returned home we then received a refund . Fortunately I hadn t told my husband what I d booked as it was to have been a surprise so he wasn t disappointed, but I was. As we in our 70s we found carrying 2 heavy suitcases up and down a spiral staircase with a rope banister extremely difficult and no one even suggested we could get assistance. The teas and coffee provision was also very sparse, far less than even a bed and breakfast.
Room service and food was excellent Lovely building and grounds
WiFi was not great if you could get a connection
Everything. All of the staff are great, friendly, helpful and very efficient. The room was excellent and the food was perfect.
Nice servcie, Nice bed. Good sized carpark.
Some of the buffet items on the breakfast menu were not actually available, e.g. scrambled eggs, potatoes, veg' sausages. Room was a bit cold until I worked out how to turn the heating up.
Strange experience staying here but not unpleasant. Would be a great location for a murder mistory evening
Paid top price for my room then told that breakfast was not included. Dissapointed on the lack of staff to help or serve at the bar
The old house and grounds
They call the outside buildings a wing, but it is an annex. I have stayed in more inviting military barracks. Although it was Haloween, the thick dusty cobwebs in the room were not welcome. The gery finger marks around the light switches were also reported to Housekeeping. The missing grouting between the bathroom floor tiles makes you wonder what is lurking in the cracks.
Delightful building. Location attractive with opportunities for walks in the grounds. Very quiet.
Single occupancy means a very small single bed a tiny bathroom not at all comfortable. Expensive breakfast.
