The newly refurbished Buckatree Hall Hotel is in scenic woodland at the foot of the Wrekin in tranquil Shropshire. Many rooms have scenic views of the grounds or private lake.
Score from 220 reviews Very good
A hotel with character (Good). Very close to Iron Bridge. Staff very helpfull & informative.
The rain. Sat nav takes you in the wrong direction past the Ski School. Not the hotels fault but I can imagine someone arriving late at night finding it difficult to locate.
good location restaurant food was good
On arrival room was cold and damp. Bedside light didn't work.Toilet didn't flush properly.Only one pillow on bed.Historic dining room lacked atmosphere. Could be improved with better lighting and drapes. Res.lounge dingy and unwelcoming. Our room should have been checked before our arrival. There was no way to walk to the hotel from the annex without getting very wet if it was raining.
Have stayed at this hotel twice now.Cannot fault it in anyway its setting is stunning and the rooms are beautiful
Nothing,love this hotel
friendly and helpful staff and lovely surroundings
cost of breakfast a bit steep
Breakfast, bathroom, spacious room, quiet, plenty choice at breakfast, staff welcoming
Intermittent wi fi, Kettle switch loose, more tea bags (only 2) and more milk, no complimentary biscuits, no hot chocolate, drawer handle broken
The staff were lovely. The room was excellent and the beds were so comfortable I seriously wanted to take one home with me. The hotel grounds were beautiful, and my wife and I agreed it was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in, and would stay there again anytime.
follow your sat nav with just the post code and you will arrive at the rear of the hotel with no way in. Better signage may be more helpful. Other than that not sure how anybody could find fault with the hotel. Dining room supplements were a little excessive to be honest but food was superb.
The old building, well off a main road
We were woken up at 6am by a fire alarm. There is nowhere to go for a walk. We would have liked to walk round the lake.
Location fantastic, once we found it. Room very good.
Noise! We asked for a quiet room and were in the West wing as that was supposedly the quietest part of the hotel. We were near the double doors which banged constantly 'til 2am then again from 6am. The staff were extremely nice but said they had a party of early departures and the doors were fire doors so nothing could be done about it. Shame as it's a beautiful place.
Surroundings food relaxed atmosphere plenty of options of where to sit and relax
temperature control on the shower could have been better.
Clean , modern but a lovely old feel to the original buildings
Dinner menu limited but well prepared and cooked a little expensive. Breakfast is excellent.
Price, at £60 much lower than ususal rate
The £60 room, Number 18, is only let to £60 guests & is of a very low standard. This is not made clear on the Booking.com site
Beautiful old property in lovely grounds
Pleasant surrounding's. excellent staff.
Cost of food and alcohol.
Courteous staff in general. Great restaurant setting, with polite service. Comfortable bed (impression mattress was quite new and of good quality). Quiet room. General attractiveness of property (old buildings in park-like setting).
The hotel was beautiful full of character. The bar restaurant was excellent
Staff attitude VG Breakfast arrangements VG Room VG Plenty of parking Hotel is in a quiet area
Quite difficult to find on first arrival - satnav didn't get us there on postcode. Car park lighting in the evening rather subdued - one of us tripped and fell, suffering some bruising
We were located initially in the south wing. The room felt damp and musty. We were moved to alternative room in the east wing which was very comfortable.
My wife and I stayed in what is called an 'Executive Double' and it was fabulous with four-poster bed, beams and many other 16th century original features. Lovely lake view. Included coffee machine, bath robes, slippers, breakfast for about £90! Will definitely stay again.
The room was a little warm for me, and some of the plugs were strangely placed - probably because of it's listed status.
Wonderful historic building - fabulous dining room. Excellent evening meal. Lovely setting - gardens, woods, lake. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff.
Location and grounds are lovely. Friendly service, although can be a bit forgetful. Meals on second night - huge improvement on first
Meal on first night - overcooked and dried up fish. Very popular for weddings so can be a bit noisy. Breakfast is overpriced if you're not on an inclusive rate.
Good location for visiting Ironbridge The building was lovely from outside Surroundings were pleasant to walk around
Our room (Room 12) was really too small to accommodate a double bed - one side of the bed was against the wall and the other was under a sloping roof - so tough luck if you're tall! There wasn't enough hot water for a bath Our requested morning newspapers didn't arrive The bar area is small and must be far from the kitchen so remember to request any ketchups/sauces when ordering your bar food! We had to join a queue to both check in and check out. The staff we encountered, while generally pleasant, were young and inexperienced.
Excellent spot. Double bed was two singles put together but was a good sleep.
As a general comment, staff were task and not customer orientated. That is, if they were engaged on a task, eg, serving one customer, there was a concious effort to avoid eye contact with a waiting customer. A simple smile and "I'll be with you in a moment" would have left a much better impression. This seems to be a very common problem with service in general in England, I have noticed. The service, when given, was fine.
Very helpful staff, lovely old place.Excellent meal.
Very difficult to find but receptionist gave good directions.
We stayed in an Executive Room for a very reasonable price, lovely old building with comfortable bed and a nice quiet atmosphere - staff were welcoming and our stay was very relaxing with interesting places to visit near by.
Shortage of electrical sockets - had to move kettle to plug it in next to the television; the cooked breakfast was good, but what looked like the cheapest catering jam available was provided. This would not stop me going again, though.
