For us the location was excellent, and the evening meal was particularly good.
It was a cold weekend, so we had to get muffled up to go across from our room to the main building! This should be a 4* hotel, but is let down by lack of attention to details eg stylish new fittings had been introduced to the en suite, but the old screw holes not filled in. Few facilities.
The antique furnishing and whole history of the place was really lovely and the view over the lake was beautiful. The bar meal we had was excellent. The breakfast was also good but we only had one the first morning as it was very expensive and wasn t included in the cost.
We were booked into an executive room which we did not get despite asking reception to check we were in the correct room. After we returned home we then received a refund . Fortunately I hadn t told my husband what I d booked as it was to have been a surprise so he wasn t disappointed, but I was. As we in our 70s we found carrying 2 heavy suitcases up and down a spiral staircase with a rope banister extremely difficult and no one even suggested we could get assistance. The teas and coffee provision was also very sparse, far less than even a bed and breakfast.
Room service and food was excellent Lovely building and grounds
WiFi was not great if you could get a connection
Everything. All of the staff are great, friendly, helpful and very efficient. The room was excellent and the food was perfect.
Nice servcie, Nice bed. Good sized carpark.
Some of the buffet items on the breakfast menu were not actually available, e.g. scrambled eggs, potatoes, veg' sausages. Room was a bit cold until I worked out how to turn the heating up.
Strange experience staying here but not unpleasant. Would be a great location for a murder mistory evening
Paid top price for my room then told that breakfast was not included. Dissapointed on the lack of staff to help or serve at the bar
The old house and grounds
They call the outside buildings a wing, but it is an annex. I have stayed in more inviting military barracks. Although it was Haloween, the thick dusty cobwebs in the room were not welcome. The gery finger marks around the light switches were also reported to Housekeeping. The missing grouting between the bathroom floor tiles makes you wonder what is lurking in the cracks.
Delightful building. Location attractive with opportunities for walks in the grounds. Very quiet.
Single occupancy means a very small single bed a tiny bathroom not at all comfortable. Expensive breakfast.
Quality of breakfast
Bed side lamp did not work. Staff asked us to move rooms which we did and the staff reacted very well
Bedroom we moved to did not have any hangers but this was resolved straight away. Radiator needed bleeding but we did not report it to reception. Bedroom we moved to was beside wooden staircase which was noisy but did not want to move again
Not a lot, I spent very little time at the hotel, other than to sleep. Therefore it would be unfair to criticise the the Madeley Court hotel.
The spiral staircase was a nightmare!.
Rather slow service in the bar.
The building is full of character and charm.
The bed was uncomfortable. Staff came across as disorganized although very friendly and welcoming.
Very nice place. Superbe room and very comfortable.
- GPS will not be very helpfull for the last kilometer - Almost NO indication and finding the place at night is just pure luck. - Can be very noisy at night due to parties and smokers under your windows
The setting and buildings
Bar and restaurant
Loved the fact the building still had charm although the interiors were modern. Fabulous dining hall with impressive fire place. The waitresses were very good.
Sat Nav reference takes you to the opposite side of the lake from the Hotel with no way to reach it ... and this was not needed after a long drive. The lake was beautiful.!
Great location and beautiful setting. Staff was friendly and helpful.
hard beds and very flat pillows….. the shower was going mouldy and the bathroom door kept popping open only to slam into the bath and make almighty racket….not good in the night. Had problem with wi-fi too.
Grounds The view The building
Some floors were a bit wonky but what do you expect from a 500 year old building
Venue - lovely place Food
The room was to warm.to the point of uncomfortable.
A hotel with character (Good). Very close to Iron Bridge. Staff very helpfull & informative.
The rain. Sat nav takes you in the wrong direction past the Ski School. Not the hotels fault but I can imagine someone arriving late at night finding it difficult to locate.
good location restaurant food was good
On arrival room was cold and damp. Bedside light didn't work.Toilet didn't flush properly.Only one pillow on bed.Historic dining room lacked atmosphere. Could be improved with better lighting and drapes. Res.lounge dingy and unwelcoming. Our room should have been checked before our arrival. There was no way to walk to the hotel from the annex without getting very wet if it was raining.
Have stayed at this hotel twice now.Cannot fault it in anyway its setting is stunning and the rooms are beautiful
Nothing,love this hotel
friendly and helpful staff and lovely surroundings
cost of breakfast a bit steep
