Score from 300 reviews Good
In the heart of the Ribble Valley, yet just 10 miles (16 km) from the M6 motorway network, this hotel provides value-for-money accommodation for leisure and business guests.
Score from 170 reviews Fabulous
Built in 1856, Rosehill House is half a mile south of Burnley town centre. It has retained much of its original architecture, including Italian marble fireplaces and gold leaf ceilings.
Score from 267 reviews Very good
Staff very friendly Lovely spacious room (211). Very nice breakfast
We arrived at 12.30 but room not available until 2pm and no bar facilities until 6pm. Reception area smelt very damp
Staff we're helpful, friendly and professional. The location of the hotel was perfect for us to attend a nearby wedding. Room was spacious and clean, with a large bed and very quiet.
Decor is really in need of a refurb. Both aesthetically and practically, everything in the room needed updating or replacing. Electric fire and fireplace in the room was very odd! Shower not powerful enough to rinse shampoo from hair. Bed soft and mattress felt like it had seen better days.
Relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, good food, totally comfy bed.
The reception staff The hotel in general although it is clearly becoming dated and in need of work A good sized car park The T.V. in the room Location in relation to Blackburn, Whalley and Clitheroe. Apart from other guests the hotels quiet location and general soundproofing.
The restaurant staff, they are clueless. 40 minutes between starters being cleared and main course arriving only 4 guests present in restaurant. Breakfast being served to another guest The quantity of food served, I have done fine dining but this is a joke. The fact my room was not serviced, bed not made up bins not emptied. Meal time changes without prior notice. Insufficient / inadequate outside lighting when moving between buildings and going up steeps in the dark. Carpet fraying at joining strips in doorways a health & safety issue a clear trip hazard The room temperature on Thursday Sept 11 th at night was cold at best.
Good value for money. Pleasant and helpful staff
Nice spacious room
Breakfast expensive for what it was - tinned fruit disappointing , bacon not cooked nice and crisp, tinned tomatoes not fresh.
Spacious large room
Mattress seen better days!
easy access to good quality leisure facilities (e.g. pool); friendly staff; countryside location but near enough to towns and villages
I would have liked a cycle stand!
Leisure complex awful, ancient and dirty. Corridoor walls dirty and carpets old Carpet in room old and marked. hair in bath shower mat dirty.
Reception staff were helpful.
Room smelt either of smoke or musky, couldn't decide. Main areas look old and had a number of leaks. Mold growing on one wall. Bar is shared with wedding functions so you feel like you shouldn't be in there. Breakfast was served but wasn't hot. Will not be returning. Needs TLC to bring it to a satisfactory standard.
Staff went out of their way to provide excellent service and made us all feel very welcome! The whole group enjoyed their stay here.
Large, comfortable room
Poor quality of breakfast, menu items not available at weekend is unacceptable in a quality hotel. When breakfast is available to 11am I expect food to be fully available and not cleared away by 10am. There is a clear requirement for training of breakfast staff.
Breakfast was lovely and amazing value. Only £8 each which included anything you want and as much.
The pool needs maintance and a good clean!
The changing rooms in the leisure suite could do with being modernised & new clean lockers
The suite was very pleasant and the bed very comfortable,
Waiting an hour and a half for dinner!
very good pricing for a large room
fairly tired feel including pool facilities
Slow to be seated, had to ask for glasses and for the Orange JUice to be replenished. Hot breakfast self service containers empty. When replenished it was 2 sausages, 6 rashers of bacon and 2 eggs at a time. Soon snapped up by other waiting guests. I hod no breakfast in the end. We wont be going back!
Good for a one night stop over as it facilitated a familily wedding in the vicinity. Large rooms & liked the dressing area.
We arrived later than planned due to motorway traffic & were not shown to our rooms which took more time to find. The door card wouldn't work so had to go back again to reception. Then later when we returned from wedding the room that should have been a twin was another double so again back to reception & ended up moving the kids to another room. The door card wouldn't work for the new room so again back to reception which I might point out was across a courtyard & through the main building, to get that sorted. Then later when we returned from the evening reception the kids had been settled in their room & I needed to return to the car but couldn't get back in as door card failed yet again! To add to this it was a very warm day & we tried to open the windows but only the small one was operable. The large one was painted shut & had brambles growing up. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work which made the morning unpleasant.
The room was dusty and bedding smelt musty the toilet took ages to full after flashing and the shower was pointless either too hot or too cold
Room big, friendly staff.
Room rather tired, breakfast rather ordinary.
Great staff bent over backwards to sort problems out.
Nothing.. Mercure have gone down in my estimation. Second one I have stayed in on this trip and both not good need to upgrade their standards of staff and training...... Cleaning and Politeness..
Beds too soft, carpet not cleaned found nuts on floor, rubbish bin (again!) not emptied. Cleaners again need to be reminded about cleaning and tidying a room properly (2nd Mercure where its not good enough need to take a leaf from the premier inns as very clean and excellent)!!!!
Staff at breakfast were almost forcing us out of the restaurant way before 11am.. I was still physically eating and the waitress came over and tried to take my plate - mid mouthful! She then had a face like thunder when I said no I hadn't finished, as if I was in the way. Carpets in room were disgusting, full of stains and dust, peeling paint and seals all over rooms, generally shabby decor. Receptionist when checking in was lovely and friendly, however man in baseball cap who was hanging around was taking up more time than anything, and made me feel awkward. Believe he was staff member as he was behind desk, but in normal clothes made it very unprofessional and intimidating. I have stayed here before but won't ever again, this hotel is not worth the price paid, is in need of an overhaul and very disappointing.
Good location Good value for money Enjoyable stay Good breakfast
Clean, large double room with a separate lounge room. Bed very comfortable and shower great. Christine and Jade in the restaurant were exceptional and the food served was outstanding. Beautiful location. Booked for 4 nights and changed it to 7 nights as this Hotel is so impressive.
Only suggestion would be to have a bar fridge in each room and ceiling fans in the rooms for summertime as we stayed during an English heat wave.
