Score from 164 reviews Excellent
easy access to good quality leisure facilities (e.g. pool); friendly staff; countryside location but near enough to towns and villages
I would have liked a cycle stand!
Reception staff were helpful.
Room smelt either of smoke or musky, couldn't decide. Main areas look old and had a number of leaks. Mold growing on one wall. Bar is shared with wedding functions so you feel like you shouldn't be in there. Breakfast was served but wasn't hot. Will not be returning. Needs TLC to bring it to a satisfactory standard.
Staff went out of their way to provide excellent service and made us all feel very welcome! The whole group enjoyed their stay here.
The changing rooms in the leisure suite could do with being modernised & new clean lockers
The suite was very pleasant and the bed very comfortable,
Waiting an hour and a half for dinner!
very good pricing for a large room
fairly tired feel including pool facilities
Slow to be seated, had to ask for glasses and for the Orange JUice to be replenished. Hot breakfast self service containers empty. When replenished it was 2 sausages, 6 rashers of bacon and 2 eggs at a time. Soon snapped up by other waiting guests. I hod no breakfast in the end. We wont be going back!
Good for a one night stop over as it facilitated a familily wedding in the vicinity. Large rooms & liked the dressing area.
We arrived later than planned due to motorway traffic & were not shown to our rooms which took more time to find. The door card wouldn't work so had to go back again to reception. Then later when we returned from wedding the room that should have been a twin was another double so again back to reception & ended up moving the kids to another room. The door card wouldn't work for the new room so again back to reception which I might point out was across a courtyard & through the main building, to get that sorted. Then later when we returned from the evening reception the kids had been settled in their room & I needed to return to the car but couldn't get back in as door card failed yet again! To add to this it was a very warm day & we tried to open the windows but only the small one was operable. The large one was painted shut & had brambles growing up. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work which made the morning unpleasant.
The room was dusty and bedding smelt musty the toilet took ages to full after flashing and the shower was pointless either too hot or too cold
Room big, friendly staff.
Room rather tired, breakfast rather ordinary.
Great staff bent over backwards to sort problems out.
Nothing.. Mercure have gone down in my estimation. Second one I have stayed in on this trip and both not good need to upgrade their standards of staff and training...... Cleaning and Politeness..
Beds too soft, carpet not cleaned found nuts on floor, rubbish bin (again!) not emptied. Cleaners again need to be reminded about cleaning and tidying a room properly (2nd Mercure where its not good enough need to take a leaf from the premier inns as very clean and excellent)!!!!
Staff at breakfast were almost forcing us out of the restaurant way before 11am.. I was still physically eating and the waitress came over and tried to take my plate - mid mouthful! She then had a face like thunder when I said no I hadn't finished, as if I was in the way. Carpets in room were disgusting, full of stains and dust, peeling paint and seals all over rooms, generally shabby decor. Receptionist when checking in was lovely and friendly, however man in baseball cap who was hanging around was taking up more time than anything, and made me feel awkward. Believe he was staff member as he was behind desk, but in normal clothes made it very unprofessional and intimidating. I have stayed here before but won't ever again, this hotel is not worth the price paid, is in need of an overhaul and very disappointing.
Good location Good value for money Enjoyable stay Good breakfast
Clean, large double room with a separate lounge room. Bed very comfortable and shower great. Christine and Jade in the restaurant were exceptional and the food served was outstanding. Beautiful location. Booked for 4 nights and changed it to 7 nights as this Hotel is so impressive.
Only suggestion would be to have a bar fridge in each room and ceiling fans in the rooms for summertime as we stayed during an English heat wave.
Junior suite was great
Rooms were brilliant sizes. Beds were comfy. Facilities good. Breakfast was good.
Decor outdated and some of the furniture needs replacing or reupholstering. My partner who's 6ft 2 couldn't fit under the shower head. And whilst I know he's tall he's not unusually tall.
Size of rooms Facilities Comfort Friendly staff
Couldn't fault the hotel itself. Was brilliant.
If anything it would have to be the leisure facility. It is in dire need of a makeover in the changing area.
Shower didnt work, breakfast was disgraceful,
Room was very good. Staff very friendly and helpful
Nice pool, really friendly staff.
Breakfast not included in price, family room on first floor with no lifts - hard to carry all baby bits up stairs
Breakfast was chaotic, big queues and they had run out
Nice large room, comfy bed
Threadbare carpet, tiny tv on the wall .
