Staff were very friendly and helpful. Tiny bathrooms, located on the edge of a roundabout connecting motorways and bed was very uncomfortable. the food was also very expensive given the quality. Unless you want to trek into town or to a pub in the countryside you have to pay up.

I booked an "Ambassador" room, rather than a standard room & was bitterly disappointed with the quality. The room smelt damp & we suspect a leaking radiator, as the carpet was damaged, really badly marked and had shrunk away from the wall. The carpet was pretty threadbare, the furniture was from the 1970's, the paintwork poor. I complained at Reception & had I not insisted on speaking with someone in authority, the receptionist would have been quite happy to just charge the originally agreed rate! the duty mgr reduced the bill by £15. we had taken advantage of a "deal" rate & I'm staggered they advertise this room at around £170-180 - a joke. needless to say we won't be back. ps. The breakfast was no better than average.

Bed was comfortable, staff were pleasant and responsive to complaints, credited poor food from bill. First Ambassador room smelt damp and fusty and was not clean, film of dust everywhere, was moved to a similar room one floor down that was an improvement. Room decor is dark and very small windows so on a sunny evening all lights needed to be on. Room service was quick but food was awful, undercooked and cold. Manager responded to complaints efficiently but this is a four star rated hotel and should not have happened. Hotel information folder was very tired looking and not inviting to read through. Breakfast was ok but scrambled egg was greasy and unappetising...... Croissants cold.

The noise? - it appears that the hotel accommodates coach parties full of loud teenagers. We did complain and were subsequently moved. Unfortunately, although we were moved in the early evening we had already settled into the room and had unpacked. I had actually gone to bed since I was feeling unwell. Also, we request the Ambassador room since it has a kingsize bed. The room we moved to was very nice but only had a small double- my partner is 6ft 6inches and found this extremely uncomfortable.

Bedrooms could do with redecorating. Had to ask for toilet rolls as there were nine in bathroom, and extra pillow as there was 2 of us. Breakfast was average, had to wait long time for coffee, which tasted like dishwater. Part of bar area was being renovated which we was not told about at time of booking.

Hotel was upmarket for the price Dinner was absolutely awful - I left most of it. Staff must be used to that since they didn't enquire why I had left it.

Nice bar area Our room was quite small (had double bed when used to king size). However, others in our party were allocated much nicer rooms. Room needs updating/refurbishing. Only one set of towels left in bathroom on second day.
