Bed , lovely breakfast , friendly staff
Friendly people big bedrooms good food, what more does anyone want.
Not much menu choice mid week
Charming garden near Battle. Quiet location.
Room was small for the bulky furnishings. Bed was uncomfortable. Evening meal not available on most weekday nights.
We had a lovely 3 night stay here Kerry & Lorraine looked after us amazingly and as if we were part of their own family. Rooms are ample and our 4 poster bed was so comfortable. The only let down was no Internet in the bed rooms but other than that it's a fantastic welcoming and warm place to stay
Lack of Internet in the bedroom but very minor!
One of the best hotels I have stayed in.
Beautiful Hotel, lovely room (had the garden suite). Fantastic couple running it. Evening meal was delicious from the Lounge bar menu, the breakfast was gorgeous, local produce, beautifully presented. A real gem of a place. HIGHLY recommended!
Excellent cooked breakfast!
Perfect position. Perfect facilities.
The breakfast was very good and the room was very clean and airy
The room was quite noisey as you could hear the people in the next room and above and the mattress was very lumpy
Good location, quiet with lovely clean rooms. Breakfast was delicious.
The bedroom was very hot - needed to open all the windows to cool it down!
A quiet place to relax after strenuous days of touring. We checked in early and had the choice of two rooms: I chose one toward the gardens (another reviewer had mentioned the noise from the A21 highway); my wife prevailed and chose the larger room fronting A21. We stayed there 2 nights and there was no disturbing highway noise. Full English breakfasts were excellent. Staff was friendly and competent. Owner was most gracious. We had the light dinner fare on a Sunday night in the lounge. The food was very good, the atmosphere relaxing, and a glass of the house wine (Merlot, that night) most refreshing. We heartily recommend the Claverton House for anyone staying in the Battle/Hastings area.
Quite difficult to find Bluemans Lane, even in the daylight. Overgrown hedges make it difficult to exit Bluemans Lane on to A21. This is no fault of the management.
Very peaceful and pleasant surroundings ideal for exploring the area. owners made you feel at home and the excellent breakfast sets you up for the day.
All aspects were better than average. Very clean, comfortable and the staff very friendly. Lovely well prepared breakfast.
Exit from the lane onto A21. Very difficult to look both ways without inching the car out onto a very busy road.
location is peferct, set in gorgeous grounds, the owners are very amicable and considerate and the staff alike. Lovely rooms (stayed here twice now), which has all one could possibly need and more than other hotels offer; fridge, wine classes, etc., and an absolutely smashing breakfast
A quiet and calm place. Nice quality. Family feel to staff.
Nothing to speak of.
A lovely tranquil location, set in mature grounds. Huge ,very comfortable bed and some nice touches in the bedroom. It would have been nice to have a couple of chairs in the bedroom to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea, instead of sitting on the bed. Perhaps some of the drawer storage could be removed to make way for some chairs. Fabulous breakfast, superbly cooked. Definitely would go there again if in the area.
Slight noise of pump in pond, but not too much of an issue.
Hotel was fantastic, lovely welcome, beautiful surroundings. The room was great, bed very comfortable. The dinner we had was excellent as was the breakfast.Overall we had a lovely, relaxing time.Would definitely come back again.
Personally I think the mini bar should be free as we had eaten and drank downstairs all night. To be charged for 2 bottles of water was a bit excessive.Only a minor thing though!
Very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely.
Compared to other accommodation during our 2 week tour of south East England we felt this accommodation was overpriced.
We booked the Luxury King size and we were not disappointed. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, much better than hotels.
Just a few small cosmetic issues in room and bathroom which could easily be fixed.
The meal we had on the Saturday night of our stay was particularly good
Not keen on the background music which seemed to be on a continuous loop but this is of course very much down to personal preference.
I liked the menu and the ambience of the place.very friendly staff.
The room was small - not much room to move around easily. The room was hot and I got virtually no sleep.
A lovely country house setting - the room we had was nicely furnished. There was a double shower but no bath. Breakfast was excellent. The house was located within close proximity to the the places we wished to visit during our stay
A lot of noise first thing in the morning ie the reception telephone ringing very early and because the house is small it was audible in the room
Everything - Courteous, helpful and welcoming staff. Clean and tidy room with minimal wear and tear. Yes it was compact, but we were warned about that prior to booking.
Being picky, the room was too hot - didn't expect the heating to come on at 7.30ish and the duvet was too thick for the time of year (for us) but the housekeepers soon sorted that out. *There was a drain blockage on our last morning and I am sure it was rapidly dealt with - right under our window and water came back up into shower tray*
very good place to stay if in the area again I would stay there again
Great food, a lovely room, nice country views in a wonderful setting, and excellent service from a very nice team.
A very minor point - the mattress was a little too soft.
