For £50 a night the rooms were really good and we had a great sea view. They were also quite warm as the heating was on most of the time. It could have done with a handtowel though as standard. The free breakfast was OK though finishing at 9am on a weekend wasn't great.
The main problem is parking, it's a small area out back and you need to walk around the derelict land to the side, the only other way to it is through the kitchen! We had to go out a couple of times just to try get a better spot for our car whilst trying not to block other guests in.
They organise parties without telling the other customers. We had loud music and people noise until early morning.
Break fast was excellent, staff were very helpful. Overall value for money. Would use again for short stays.
Little bit noisy overnight and beds slightly uncomfortable.
Upgraded bedroom (2 night stay) - so clean and bright. Bathroom brill. Staff so helpful and friendly. Breakfast v good. Parking also fine at front. Will happily stay again next year.
Not really a "didn't like" but thought dining area could have do with a spruce up - didn't match the other redecorated areas.
Staff very accommodating and helpful
Hotel was very good value for money. The room was good and breakfast was excellent
Only downside was the lack of off street parking
It was with in walking distance to get to my sisters and for the price we paid it was not worth giving her the extra washing for one night, the breakfast was fresh made and you had a good meal to start the day
Car parking at the back of the hotel we had to ask ,to go through to get to the car,
Price Sea view
Toilet/bathroom very dated. Whole room needed modernising. No hand towel. No shower gel.
Good location for going into town Cleanliness Cheap and very comfortable Friendly staff Nice breakfast
Shower wouldn't turn off as handle sticked we had to call maintenance to fix only thing I can comment as a negative but staff were great and fixed it within matter of minutes
staff attention and flexibility
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at this hotel - they really go out of their way to accommodate your needs and make you feel welcome. I didn't check in until 10.45 as I had met my son for dinner beforehand - even at this time of night, the staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful, finding me a parking space and carrying my things to my room. The breakfast was lovely - freshly cooked & the best bacon I've had in a long while! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Redcar.
A little noisy as there was a function on and people returning to their rooms in the early hours
Close to town centre
A nice location, sea view. Staff helpful & friendly.
Parking a rear of hotel without direct guest access. We had a long walk around to front or be let in through laundry room or kitchen if staff around. Not ideal! Extractor fan not working in ensuite bathroom, this is not unusual in hotels but why have a fan if it's not maintained.
The location of the hotel to where I wanted to be in the evening was at the other end of the same road. So excellent location overlooking sea front. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The double room was very comfortable with a recently refitted shower room which was excellent, Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good and filling and served well with smiling faces.. Price was very good. Overall for a one night stay, excellent, and a longer stay would have been fine..
Excellent place to stay would go back again and would recommend it to family and friends
Excellent, spacious deluxe room. Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast. Recommended!
Lack of breakfast menus.
From the moment we walked in we were treated extremely well. The room was clean and well equipped, the food was very good and the service second to none. The staff were friendly and very efficient. An excellent place to stay.
the staff were friendly and breakfast was good
the room was very small, the shower was very small ,toilet did not flush properly, old dirty used soap left on washbasin,no wardrobe in room just a rail on wall, very noisy in morning from contractors staying there, creaky floors, when people walked past our door the floor moved
needs alittle updating without losing character
close to town centre and beach, a nice hotel with friendly staff, and good food. very good service and excellent value .
Enjoyed my stay at the Claxton, Donna (staff) was lovely.
Not much information given on arrival, such as breakfast arrangements or if there was a way of getting to the car park without walking all the way around. Car getting blocked in numerous times a day on site car park. Very noisy at night people walking around slamming doors.
Everything. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The hotel is in a superb location, ie close to the superb shopping centre and wonderful sea front, and the breakfasts were delicious. We are looking forward to a return visit.
Not so much didn't like, but the room we stayed in would certainly benefit a refurb.
Friendly staff Excellent Breakfast Well situated. Comfy bed.
Couldnt park in the car park to the rear of hotel. Rooms although very clean etc the size of double room very much on the small side glad we were only staying for a couple of days and not a full week.
Quite clean room. Excellent breakfast.
View from window! Obviously a sea view would have been perfect. One sheet had old stains on.
