Incredible views across the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park can be enjoyed from Gwbert Hotel’s bistro.
Score from 100 reviews Excellent
Highbury is on the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, just a 15-minute drive from Penbryn Beach. The guesthouse has a traditional restaurant and a pretty garden.
Score from 98 reviews Very good
With an elegant restaurant, The Golden Lion Inn offers boutique bedrooms with free Wi-Fi and Welsh mineral water. The hotel is in Newport, in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Enjoying spectacular views over the River Teifi, Poppit Sands beach and Cardigan Bay beyond, this charming traditional inn has a stunning location that is truly inspirational.
Score from 161 reviews Very good
Location is lovely and we had a sea view room. The spa is also very relaxing although a little small.
We could not find a parking space in the hotel car park for at least 30 minutes and the nearest town is a couple of miles away. This is an issue as there is no where else nearby to leave a vehicle.
The staff were always smiling and were always ready to assist you, very pleasant. The meal we had in the restaurant was first class.
So many functions on at the Hotel, parking was a nightmare.
Great food , excellent steak. Chamber maid very helpful when, through our own fault , could not operate our TV properly.
Room not particularly warm. The room we had was noisy overnight with two generators coming on and off. We were not informed that major maintenance work was in progress and there was plant, machinery and delivery vehicles operating all day.
the Spa is lovely and only let down by the pitiful changing facilities. Public areas and restaurant are clean, smart and welcoming. All members of staff looked well groomed and professional and were without exception polite and helpful.
Beware room 128. I was travelling alone and booked a single room, but 128 is awful - dingy, tatty, curtains hanging off the rail, bits of wallpaper missing, dirty lightswitch etc. Happily, when I requested another room, I was given another one very promptly. My new room, although not yet upgraded, was clean and comfortable.
The food was excellent, staff extremely friendly will definitely book again.
We were looking forward to a family swim. My understanding was that this hotel was family friendly but when asked about swimming with the children we were informed that children can only use the facilities between 8 to 10am when breakfast is served between 8 to 9.30. This was very disappointing for both my children and myself.
Valentines evening meal. The attention of the staff especially the wine waiter from across the river.
Resolved by management to our satisfaction. Thank you.
I liked the new staff. I have been using this hotel now for 9 years. It was getting old and tired but now has a new lease of life. The owners are spending money so that the reception area and restaurant now are new. The bedroom I stayed in was still old school but they hope all will be refurbished by the end of the year.
No room left in the restaurant due to Valentine's day.
nice hotel nice location very nice staff
the downfall was the room it was very disappointing.
Surprised at the quality of the building and service. Very clean and perfect for our weekend.
No more issues.
Location and surroundings and helpful staff
Spa was very nice, also food in restaurant was very good too although starters and deserts a bit expensive.
Part of hotel we stayed in was very outdated compared to main area, very old carpet and mouldy smell although i know hotel is under refurbishment.
You're lucky to have a very good masseurs in Spa
Many builders around, but it serve good purpose. Breakfast excellent, excluding sausages.
Very comfortable hotel, excellent food available. Was my first stay at this hotel but will definitely return.
Sea room views are superb, friendly staff, lovely Spa facilities, overall a superb hotel and location, we will return!!!
One of the communal toilets hardly flushed at all very poor mechanism. No diet provision for lactose intolerant residents.
I liked the hotel location, atmosphere, decor and the friendly staff. Breakfast was also very good.
The spa changing area is in need of attention which I believe is being done soon.
Great staff. Lots of space for a toddler downstairs ( Although room was a bit small with cot in!)
Only one night staff very welcoming
As soon as we walked in the greeting was warm and friendly. The view from our bedroom and the restaurant was superb. The food was delicious overall, although my wife chose the wrong dish on the first night. The spa was clean although the floor of the men's changing area was dirty. The women's wasn't - must be a male thing! Be aware that building work continues on site and the area outside the restaurant is unfinished.
Locations and views Friendliness and helpfulness of staff First class food well prepared - everything was done as it should be and absolutely delicious - thanks to the chef who really knows what he's/she's doing. Reasonable prices for the standards on offer. Lovely décor in the refurbished parts of the hotel - once the project is complete the hotel will be amazing - in the meantime rooms are well decorated, clean, warm and comfortable with everything one needs anyway - upgrade would be cosmetic. And the spa is the best I've ever been in - lovely and warm, great features, very pretty lighting. Truly relaxing.
Bathroom was just a little tired but perfectly clean and usable. However due to be updated soon.
The new management have excellent improvements to what was previously a rundown hotel with a terrible wine list! My room was quiet, comfortable, very warm (on a freezing January night it also had a gorgeous sea view. Helpful, friendly local staff. Excellent food. Will definitely book again.
Staff very helpful & pleasant, food in restaurant was amazing.
spa and pool very good , food very good , hotel very good , location very good
All of the staff were wonderful, both in the hotel and the restaurant. Very professional, thoughtful and friendly which made up for any shortcomings. They are a perfect example as to how hotel staff should be with their customers- thank you!
The restaurant food was disappointing and not worth the money. The service was very slow, maybe due to having to cater for a large party as well? Poor attention to detail- rotten grape on my cheeseboard! Yuk! Breakfast also disappointing. Spa opening times need to be clarified and adhered to- states last entry 7.30pm, we arrived at 7.20pm and were told we could have 10 minutes because they needed a head start with the cleaning.
The fact that you sell real ale was a bonus
We are astounded with your staff who were all so polite, happy, helpful, that is from waiters bar staff reception and room service. I wish this was the case in other hotels who claim to be 5*, views are amazing, menu and food excellent!!!
