Cliff Hotel  

the rooms had been refurbished very well, were very clean and well laid out. the food in the restaurant was very good and the service was excellent with a good choice.

the bedroom was very warm and I could imagine in the summer could be very uncomfortable due to no air conditioning

I thought the hotel was situated in a perfect location, the staff, service, food was all really, really good. I would 100% recommend it to friends and family and would like to visit again another time.

The bar area was packed all day and all night with non residents and we did not feel comfortable sitting in there with children. The windows in the room... so hard to open, we didnt manage to open one until the morning we were leaving. But a great room and def would stay again.

There was a wedding on , on the day we arrived so we couldn't park in the car park went in to ask reception who said try driving around the roads which we had already done several times, another member of staff suggested we park at the back but at our own risk as it is being used as a builders yard at the moment which we did but my husband is disabled and wasn't convenient . Rooms also vary in size we had a huge room last time we stayed with u this time the room was small wiv curtains hanging off the rails

The hotel staff are so helpful, the room we had was beautiful and the position of the hotel is perfect all in all it is a fantastic hotel have been 3 times now and would definitely go back, also the terrace has amazing views over the seafront and beach.

The view was lovely, bed was very comfortable and staff extremely helpful

No blind or frosted glass in toilet.... plug contraption on sink.

Good location,good staff and hotel very clean and smart despite ongoing renovations. However,we were at an after funeral get together so the atmosphere was rather muted.

The size of the room allocated for the after funeral gathering was woefully inadequate.Fortuneatly the weather was good enough for us to use the outside space otherwise it would have been extremely uncomfortable.The amount of food provided was also insufficient for the number of people present.

The food was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. The terrace by the bar has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are always polite. Would recommend and would stay again.

The hotel seemed to be in a state of redevelopment. Sure it will look great when finished but did look a bit patchy.

Size of room and equipment + the breakfast

The web site said that renovations were complete!! At breakfast on 1st morning my view was of a workman fitting a sewer pipe. After long walks on 2 days we came back to the room to relax - only to have workmen in the next room using power tools to drill & sand, the area stank of new paint - not restfull at all. The Hotel will be nice when finished, if we had known earlier we would have booked elsewhere, they did not even inform us as we booked in.

Newly refurbished room did not have phone. Clearly not snagged properly - shower head was loose and sprayed across bathroon when used. No power socket near desk. Had to boil kettle on bedside table - health and safety risk. No socket near mirror for hair dryer.

Niggling faults with the room

The food was excellent. We had different options from hot breakfast menu all cooked and presented well. We also had an evening meal with friends who we had invited to the hotel and we all enjoyed our choices very much. The terrace is also a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink weather permitting. .

The parking was a bit limited for the numbers using the hotel at certain times

I like the location. out of town cwntre and beside the beach. otherwise efficient and friendly

Improvements of rooms etc. Awesome size bed. Staff Food

A few teething problems. TV not working properly. Shower not working properly, and couldn't work out how to use it! No hairdryer in room.

Fantastic outside bar area, nicely decorated and appointed rooms. Friendly staff. Good location near the wonderful beach and prom.

Our sea view room was only spoilt by the fact that the windows were filthy, no excuse really as there was a balcony door to get to them. Bed pillows were too soft for our liking

A really lovely friendly hotel. Food was superb especially the full english breakfast! Rooms were clean,spacious and beautifully decorated. Close by to seaside resorts and shops. Lots of places of interest nearby.

Great Location, refurbishment looks to be partly successful. Staff on the whole really friendly and accommodating in difficult circumstances. Food was poor and the menu too pub like for a hotel but at hotel prices!

Refurb needs a bit of direction, too much clutter in the bathroom and a bed that was way too big, better to just stick with a regular king size and gain extra space in the room. Pillows were useless, square and nothing but air!

The room was nice and the price was good, the food served in the bar was lovely and the location was great! room 105 thanks!

My daughter and her partner stayed in room 124 and although the room was nice the shower didn't work and was very dangerous ( I did report this ) it came out really hot!! the noise from the builders etc was also unexceptable!! I do understand that you are trying to re-vamp the hotel but why not do one side at a time, the noise from the buildres woke them up.On a positive they loved the size of the bed.

The staff were fantastic (all British and local so you could hold a conversation with them) nothing too much trouble,room was comfortable and clean,location great for exploring gt ymouth and surrounding area food in hotel was excellent.If in area would stay there again.

Hotel is being refurbished which is on going so parts of the hotel do look tired but no real inconvenience
