Impressive Reception area with welcoming staff. We had a refurbished room which had very modern decoration and fittings but still retained its Victorian charm. Restaurant and bar areas superbly fitted. Very good choice of food which was well cooked and presented. Our sat. nav. tooks us a non pretty way to approach the hotel along narrow back streets. Eventually though to a large car park.

Made to feel very welcome and extremely attentive bar and restaurant service. Easy walk to beach and promenade, plus good location for further day trips out to broads and surrounds. Excellent breakfast choices and also a good bar menu and restaurant menu. - well presented plates and delicious. We both enjoyed our stay at the Cliff Hotel and would return. Some decoration was a bit tired but seems to be a work in progress. Curtains in room 106 may be improved if they were lined so not too much light let in the summer morning. Would be enjoyable to open full length window to use balcony. TV was unwatchable in 106 due to poor signal (snowy picture)

The staff were great! We arrived late after a long drive and were made welcome although a busy function was on. We were made sandwiches and given somewhere quiet to relax for a few minutes. Room was lovely too......sea view was great! Cannot complain about the hotel at all but it was a bit tricky to find. We saw it on the top of the hill but then struggled to get there for a few minutes.

The Room didnt have a radiator that worked. Although a very small electric heater was provided. No tissues in the room or adequate toilet rolls. The room was dusty and the carpet definately hadnt been hoovered as it left white powdery dust on your shoes. I felt it was expensive for the lack of facilities provided,. It needs a make over as its very shabby. The staff though were very accomodating though.

Excellent breakfast and breakfast staff, couldn't have been more helpful. First room offered, drafty windows (one very loose), smoky smelling room, dirty headboard. Second and only avilable room, radiator not working, noisy fan heater left. Cold bathroom. No smoke detector in room, telephone in room not working..

We were attracted by the price and the location. We were not able to stay for dinner on this occasion but look forward to doing so next time. The breakfast was exceptionally good. Well cooked and presented and a a very good choice of dishes. Our rooms were newly decorated 107 and 109. They were comfortable and stylish. The shower is very good indeed. No complaints art all. Clearly there is renovation work going on but we were never inconvenienced by it. I unfortunately left my phone charger behind, and it hasn't been found. But the service atmosphere and value for money will bring us back again.

Located close to the beach and the promenade in a much more pleasant neighbourhood than if in Great Yarmouth. Breakfast was good. We ate in the restaurant and the fish we had on the first evening was only just cooked. There was some early morning noise from contractors working but the hotel had told us about them.

Food was very good and the staff were pleasant. The location is great. No mention of the extensive building work taking place or I wouldn't have booked. They are spending a lot of money extending the bar, I think the priority shoul be modernising the bedrooms which are like something out of the 70's. The bed was terrible the pillows were like bricks and room 106 was like an oven. Food was very good and the staff were pleasant. I will not stay again until the accommodation improves.

Friendly staff, location. Room 106 overly warm during the night even with window open for some reason even with radiator off. Just going through a refurbishment phase so could have been something to with that as not been a problem before.

The only good point about this hotel were the staff! They were all very friendly and helpful and did their work very well. The breakfast was nice with a menu for your cooked items of choice but as is so often in England you miss the variety of different rolls/breads and cold meats and cheese etc. Room 101 needs a total make-over! Very small room, the bed was terrible like sleeping on concrete and had no quilt just a sheet and horrible old blanket. The carpet was absolutely filthy with stains everywhere. Very dated decor with cracked and peeling paintwork. The door to our room did not lock, fan in the bathroom was not working, lightbulbs needed replacing. The room furniture is the cheapest I have ever seen. The bathroom had cracked tiles and worst of all the toilet had a wooden seat that was cracked and swollen up underneath from all the urine, disgusting! Our towels were not changed each day just picked up off the floor and put back! The sink did not drain away properly. The floorboards creaked badly with every step. The window in the room did not shut properly. An absolutely dreadful room. The hotel should be 2* at best.

The food was great and the staff very helpful and pleasant. The room was a bit basic and water poured through the ceiling when the people in the room above had a shower! But we did not let that spoil our stay and we had a really enjoyable stay. Many thanks.

Friendly staff and Hotel a suprise when looking at the outside as it looks like aTravelLodge from the back entrance but inside lovely 1930's styling yet the rooms are modern with flat screen TV's and moderen bathrooms etc. The Hotel is still being decorated/upgraded so a fair comparison isn't that possible but I would imagine when it's completed it will be fantastic. Thats not to say at the moment it isn't comfortable! Gorlston it self isn't that great a location but is in easy reach of Norwich
