quiet comfortable and not far into the city.fantastic variety of breakfast options as well as great full English!
well presented, spacious room, owner helpfull and takes a pride in his guest house
breakfast too early for weekend and should keep a log of which car belongs to which room occupier, so he doesn't need to go round asking!!
FOR THE HOTEL IN THE WAY FROM EDINBURGE TO LONDON, CLIFTON BRIDGE GUESTHOTEL IS THE BEST HOTEL I HAVE LIVED. EXCELLENT EVERYTHING. I LOVE THIS PALACE
Breakfast was nice Bed was comfy
No wifi existed No hot water available until late evening Extremely small rooms Damp and mould in the bathroom Very dated and smelt like dog in the corridors
No one was there to check us in when we arrived, no sign or note to explain. Rang the number and told it would be 10 mins, 35 mins later there were 9 people waiting to check in and owner arrived. He then proceeded to be rude and surley to everyone waiting with no apology for keeping us waiting. We got a lecture on how hard it was to run the business and we couldn't expect service for the price we were paying for the room, all we should expect was a ckean room with a reasonable breakfast!! He even ranted about how much his overhead costs were and how little profit he madeRoom was dirty with used toiletries and a dirty used comb on the floor, hairs in the shower tray and very dusty. No hot water initially, we had to wait another 30 minutes before hot water available. Having arrived 2.5 hours ahead of time, we then ended up having to rush to get ready to go out and were quite stressed. Breakfast was served strictly between 8am and 9am, on New Years day and check out early at 10.30am. Gave the impression of 'got your money, want you out ASAP'
The location it is only a short walk into york from the guest house
The owner/receptionist was very rude. When we were checking in he left us stood waiting in the tiny reception area for around 10 minutes, he kept walking past us and gave no explanation as to why we were waiting! Also at check in the card reader wouldn't work and he refused to give us a receipt to confirm that the transaction had declined stating 'trust me I've been doing this job for a number of years I know what I am doing' Our room was dated and grubby. My friends room was disgusting, there was hair and dirt all over the carpet, the bath mat had a dirty foot print on it and there were hairs in the bed. The room had clearly not been cleaned on arrival! We spent a very uncomfortable night at this guest house!
We like everything was very surprised
We where made very welcome, the room was nice and warm and very clean, food was 10/10, it wasn't to far from the town, we will certainly go back again, maybe in the summer.
Location was good relative to centre Nice walk into centre along the river Had its own car park Breakfast was quite good
No hot water on the evening or next morning - only luke warm. Heating timing was poor - room was cold on the evening (radiator cold); room was uncomfortably hot at 3am (radiator v.hot) Car park not big enough for number of rooms with several cars blocked in by at least three others. Standards of cleanliness in the room were poor. Our friends room (No.12) had a soiled toilet bowl on arrival and carpet clearly not vacuumed. Our room (no.14) had long term grime in places
Lovely, clean room. Breakfast exceptional. Owner polite and attentive.
distance from town centre stated 10 mins on booking .com it was 25 mins had to use taxis will not be returning again, thought we were overcharged 79 per room breakfast was ok but not worth the money we paid, was rather disapointed
clean, comfortable and homely. Excellent value for money. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice.
Rooms very hot.
breakfast was lovely
i found the corridors narrow rooms small, the owner i felt seemed to be watching you all the time. I found this quite uncomfortable sorry.
the staff were very friendly and very helpful.
location, friendly helpful staff. pleasant accomodation
Bin not emptied from previous occupants, soap dish not clean. At breakfast we waited 20 to 30 minutes until we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee and a cooked breakfast. But I have to say the breakfast was first class.
Very quiet, very comfortable bed
Bedroom needed a makeover, toilet was cramped,
The room was clean and loads of space owner was very polite an welcoming on arrival breakfast was nice and would stay again
Excellent hosts providing extra services ie taxi from town at a cheaper rate than local cab. The breakfast was excellent and abundant. Top marks!
The actual owner wasn't on site at the time, it was a young man who had taken over until the owner was at full health. The young man spoke inappropriately, came in to the room when we returned from our awards ceremony and was trying to involve himself in conversation. The room was very old and dated. There was a problem with heating which was then blamed on the couple in the room. the man told me 'I cannot stop him taking money from my account for 'repairs' so he can take what he likes' I would NEVER stay here again. Don't be fooled by the hotel parking it can fit maybe 4 cars in the car park. Ridiculous customer service.
This hotel is only a short walk from the centre of York and although the carpark is quite tight it was a welcome addition. Unfortunately our room had just been painted and the smell was quite strong but the room was clean and bed was comfortable.
Location..15mins brisk walk from centre, cosy quiet room, good variety of cereals fruit yogurt and juice etc for breakfast Owner tried his best to be kind and helpful!
No Wi-Fi facilities except in dining room which there was no access to and TV remote was missing at first, poor pressure on shower, top bedside cabinet drawers were dirty, hadn't been cleaned out,... cooked breakfast was rather disappointing
Breakfast was ample and ok
Upon arrival there was no one to great us after ringing the bell a fair few times, we had to phone the guy to come to the door, and this was only 6pm and what a very bad tempered and arrogant man he was.
Comfortable room and good breakfast
Car park too small
We really enjoyed our stay. The beds were so comfy. Rooms very cosy.
