Room prepared at short notice to allow earlier check-in.
Heating on in summer.
nice breakfast varieties , friendly staff , great location .
I was alone, but offered a big double room (although I did book a double room as that was the one available and also cheap), spacious, nice and neat. Bathroom good. Convenient to my place of visit and good bus connection.
1. The bed lamps by bedside were not working. 2. Internet not working, wifi 3. The sugar sachets in the coffee tray was old and not usable. It changed the taste of coffee/tea when used.
i had a huge room, and the staff were very friendly at ll stages.
the shower lacked some pressure, but the water was warm enough.
hotel's proximity to services, stations and shops/pubs etc. Also, helpfulness f staff and peacefulness despite nearby main road.
I liked location. Room size and comfort.
Outdated toilet dark interior had to wait for breakfast
The Wifi was not working. The room was not so clean. The breakfast is quite poor.
warm welcome heating was good good poached eggs
gap under bedroom door difficult to flush toilet burn marks on bedroom carpet
the location was at the end of the city sightseeing bus line. The people were nice and helpful
the cost. It was a late booking and we had two rooms 5 people. It was five dollars short of $600 per night. I felt three hundred dollars per room was a lot. also there was a mix up with the booking and they assured us it had been cleared up... but my sisters card was also charged, almost $500 which she is trying to get back now.
The comfortable bedrooms and felt homely. Breakfast very nice, all to expectations. The reception staff very helpful. Kitchen staff all good apart from the Russian woman. Laziness comes to mind.
All staff were very helpful apart from the Russian lady, who appeared to look untidy, no apron when serving food, a could not be bothered attitude when asked by other members of staff to do something, extremely abrupt in her mannerism very loud, shouting and surely she should have a command of English language as she has been in this hotel for 10 years, no excuses, she quite frankly needs to be put in her place or if she cannot do the job get rid, she reflects a lazy attitude, should not be serving guests. Jobs are so hard to find these days, she is so lucky her boss puts up with her dreadful mannerism.
The staff was lovely. The breakfast was good.
We had a en suite bathroom, but the toilet tank didn't flush so we had to fill the bowl with water to flush the toilet. No repair people available. Minor inconvenience I suppose. Three flights of steep stairs made getting to the room with a heavy bag a bit of a challenge.
The double room has a comfortable bed, is very clean and relatively modern despite the beautiful traditional tenement building. The bathroom is well-fitted. Both the evening and morning reception staff are really friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is light and bustling. The Scottish breakfast included in the price is quickly made to order, and arrives with tea and toast. Cereal, yoghurt and fruit juices are available at self-service. The staff in the kitchen are personable and efficient. The location is excellent: in the heart of the west end, a stone's throw from Byres Road and Great Western Road, both of which have dozens of nice pubs and restaurants, as well as lovely independent shops. It cost me £5 in a black cab from Queen St Station, but it's also on a main bus route and about 10 minutes' walk from either Kelvinbridge or Hillhead underground stations. Overall, this hotel represents excellent value for money in terms of service, facilities and location - I'd definitely stay here again.
A concern for some could be that there didn't appear to be a lift from the ground floor.
Visiting Glasgow for a wedding at Oran Mor. Location of hotel great as more or less opposite.
Named Clifton 'Hotel'but could not be described as a hotel. No lounge, bar etc. Also no shampoo! Only soap provided. Room was also very disappointing. Shower was broken, furniture very 'cheap' and nasty and bath so small I could only just fit in and I'm 5ft 2in and a size 8. Also, drawers not very clean. No proper wardrobe, just a space with a rail. Dirty laundry was almost always strewn over carpet in hallway. Often had to walk on it to get through. At best, occasionally laundry was bagged up but still taking up room in hallway.
Location excellent for restaurants, shops, transport to town. The 2 receptionists very helpful and a credit to the hotel.
Having worked in tourism for 20 years would be better for customers and management to keep the Russian? Woman in the kitchen and let someone else front the restaurant. Customers don't appreciate a face getting stuck in their face literally saying tost without even so much as a good morning first. She was always on her mobile phone and very lazy. One other restaurant staff was sitting on hotel front steps as i passed in taxi on arrival. Not a good example for the hotel.
Friendliness of staff, ability to come and go as you please, clean, comfortable room and staff can't do enough for you. Excellent breakfast
No complaints whatsoever.
Very helpful, hardworking and sincere staff, all of them
Building radiates heat in the summer months. No ventilation
Food and shower/bathroom
Reception were fab, knowledgeable& very helpful. We stayed whilst at commonwealth games so paid over the odds but other than that we found it just what we wanted. Excellent location for transport links, for tourist attractions, some great shops, beautiful gardens...great.
Couple of staff couldn't speak very good English so couldn't take breakfast orders properly, but they were very helpful.
location free wifi quiet room
grotty, is more of an old fashioned guest house or b and b not a hotel bathroom plumbing dubious and smelly shower broken carpet sticky, run down
The friendly staff and the location Good for a basic b&b. A little overpriced but to be expected given the major event going on in the city. Breakfast was good with good choice of hot and cold items.
Wifi speed a bit slow but adequate. Towels were not always pristine. Pointed this out to staff on my departure. Dining room staff did not smile at all or say good morning.
Lack of WiFi in the room.
Great room, good breakfast, highly recommend
The dining area is far too small to accommodate the number of guests. On the morning we stayed this resulted at least four couples/families waiting outside to be served. Once inside we gathered that the service was not particularly quick. In the end we were unable to get a table before the end of breakfast and had to leave with nothing. It would have been better if we had been asked to book a time.
The location was excellent for getting around Glasgow. The staff were nothing short of delightful. Breakfasts very nice. Rooms simply furnished but very clean and fresh.Excellent value for money. Receptionist [female scottish lady]couldn't have done more for us and was a real asset to the team.
The converted church pub opposite was extremely noisy in the late hours. Parking was limited however we were able to secure a tight space in the rear car-park which held approx 5 cars.
Location Closeby to shops/restaurants Nice bathroom Slept really well - quiet street
Door handle was almost about to fall off. Not screwed in properly WIFI code doesn't work. Has no connection so if you are on business, this is not ideal! Breakfast was terrible! If you want to stay here, don't pay extra for it as not worth it. 1st night, i had scottish breakfast - probably the worst ever! 2nd night - i didn't bother eating, as i prefer my beauty sleep :)
