The Clifton  

David and his staff were very welcoming and informative about the area. The accommodation was of a very good standard and both comfortable and very clean. Breakfasts were lovely and we dined in the Hotel restaurant for two of our three nights and found the meals to be very good.

Refurbished to a high standard in the last year. The new owners know how to run a hotel and provide an excellent value location and experience.

excellent response to an incorrect booking application from our side. we only where able to stay the one one night. i think maybe be the breakfast was 20% over the top- i just feel that some of the fresh product would have gone to waste - but excellent breakfast and accomadation

Very friendly and helpfull staff, room was very spacious and clean, bathroom exceptional. No need to go out for food as menu in the bistro is great and the food superb. Breakfast fantastic Will definitely be back :-)

Friendly and personal service, handy location for the Old Town and the seafront, fantastic selection of food for breakfast and in the evening. I'm really pleased that we picked the right place to stay, thoroughly recommended.

A great contemporary updated hotel whilst keeping many of its original features and charm. Extremely welcoming and comfortable with an outstanding breakfast and great views.

The setting and the food

It was very clean with friendly staff. The view from the breakfast room was lovely.

Our room was so small....

Relaxed, friendly staff, clean, tidy, nice breakfast, quiet, nice location. Nice Bathroom.

We had a twin room which we asked for, the room was clean and tidy but i was pleased we were only staying two nights. Beds were not really comfortable, at the end of the day you get what you pay for. The room was at the back of the hotel with a view of the outside metal staircase.

Friendly & accommodating staff, comfortable rooms, good food (very filling cooked breakfasts as well as lighter buffet style food included in the room fee), easy access to Shanklin Old Village, Shanklin Chine & Esplanade areas and was within reasonable walking distance to railroad & bus transportation.

What a great weekend. The rooms were wonderfull , clean and nicely decorated. We had evening meals twice, it was well cooked and it was nice to have thechoice of fresh fish on the menu. David was an excellent host. We hope to return to this hotel.

From arrival to leaving we were made to feel very welcome. The food (breakfast and dinner) was fresh,tasty and cooked with care.Service at all time was friendly, informative and very helpful. The sea views from the dinning room and garden were fabulous offering a different interest each day .The Clifton's location, the welcome by the owners, their team and the good food, is why we are planning our return .

Beautiful view with a light and airy feel to the breakfast area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfectly situated for access to the beach, Shanklin chine and the town centre.

Our room was a little small but well laid out with good facilities.
