With a beautiful cliff top location, The Clifton boasts views of Sandown Bay from its lounge and garden. Leading onto Keats's Green, it has a bistro that uses local produce in its menu. Many bedrooms have views of the Isle of Wight’s coast, and some have a balcony. Each room features free Wi-Fi, a TV, radio, a private bathroom and free tea, coffee and hot chocolate facilities. The dining room provides home-cooked food using seasonal ingredients from the nearby farmland. Special dietary requirements can be catered for. The bar stocks beers brewed on the Isle. The garden opens onto the Coastal Walk between Shanklin and Sandown. The picturesque Shanklin Old Village is a 5 minute walk away, and Shanklin Chine and the beach are also just a short walk from the hotel. We were recommended to upgrade to the honeymoon suite and this did not disappoint. The view from our room was amazing and something you could never get tired of. Breakfast options aplenty. We did not eat at The Clifton in the evening but this was because we wanted to explore the Old Town. Should we return we would certainly consider. Parking on-site which is very handy indeed as a lot of seaside resorts in the UK do not provide parking and charge a fortune. Staff were very friendly. We had a guided tour on our arrival. Location excellent as the hotel is only one street away from the Old Town, less than a minute from the seafront and only a 5-10 minute walk from Sandown. Room was spacious and clean with tea/coffee making facilities, good sized bathroom and plenty of storage for all of your belongings. All in all we were made very welcome and would not hesitate to return.

The view. The room was small and the bed was small and uncomfortable. No facilities apart from breakfast. I did not think that the room qualified as 'Superior'.I I did expected more comfort - bigger room, bed and the shower room was very small indeed.

The location of the hotel was great, just a very short walk to Shanklin Chine and old village, and you could access the seafromt and walk all the way to Sandown if you wished (lots of icrecream parlours and places to eat on the way). The location means you are not overlooked and can view the sea from the large windows into the dining and lounge areas. The downstairs space was bright and relaxing, you felt you could sit and hide in the settees overlooking the sea and let the world go by. The hotel was the right mix of original features and modern functional bits (ie bathrooms). Good breakfast selection. The car park was a little tight for me when parking on a slope, Im not used to this. The parking was free though, nice surprise as so many hotels seem to charge!

The owners were lovely, they were very welcoming. The breakfast was very good. Fantastic views from the dining room and bar. It felt a little tired. The family room we stayed in seemed very dated. We couldn't get a decent television signal.

The welcome afforded to us upon arrival was warm. All the staff were extremely friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. We enjoyed breakfast each day and I have to say the food was excellant. Plenty to eat to start your day, Bedroom was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The position of the hotel was superb with sea views in almost every location. Very convenient for access to the village, beach and chime. Car parking was also convenient within the hotel grounds. I would recommend this hotel to anyone to enjoy. Nothing

The Hotel has a new owner since one or two weeks and they are very very friendly. I had problems to get in the first night, but I emailed that I will arrive late. So if you arrive late, call ahead !! The hotel is old english and needs to be renovated like much in the country. But the architecture and the staff is nice and the view is perfect. It is directly on the coastal path which goes around the Isle of wight, so you can go walking to Sandown or Ventnor or to the beach easily.
