In the historic village of Clifton, this small hotel is just a short walk from Brunel’s famous suspension bridge, providing free loose leaf tea in the rooms and an AA Rosette restaurant.
Score from 286 reviews Good
The staff were great - very helpful and friendly, and the tea, coffee, fruit in the room was a real bonus. This hotel has lots of character - unlike some of the modern "faceless" big brand chain hotels that seem to be everywhere now. Breakfast was good too.
The bathroom could really do with being updated - it was only just acceptable. Everything worked ok - but no amount of cleaning would have cured the shabby appearance.
Friendly staff, 24h reception, comfy bed, free fruit and nice selection of tea and coffee.
The heating was controlled centrally for some reason and so we couldn't adjust the radiator in our room, which led to a sweaty and sweltering night! There was a small sign above the radiator that said to contact reception if needing to change temperature but unfortunately we didn't notice it earlier and couldn't see it when stumbling around at 3am trying to adjust! Would suggest they enable individual room control for guests' comfort, or if not possible then to let guests know the situation on arrival. Otherwise very pleasant!
Fruit bowl in room, nice atmosphere in the bar area.
The young member of staff with glasses and brown hair who went out of his way to make our stay comfortable.
The cold shower, the smell of the room, the overall attitude of the staff. The fact that WiFi had to be paid for (outrageous!).
the only good thing is the restaurant
The bed is old and horrible, there was no duvet just an old stained cover and the heating in the room and toilet didn't work, I call the reception because there was note saying the heating is controlled central but a guy came to my room and started to adjust manually but he didn't knew how the heating works so it was 3 nights feeling cold! Also my room was located on the top of the restaurant and outside in the smoke area they play music out and loud untill 23:00 I could barely hear the tv in room again I called the recetpion 2 times but nothing was done and on my last day in the morning there was no hot water to shower.
Unhelpful staff couldn't put late night bottled water on our bill or take a card for it meaning we had to go back out to get som e. Poor service.
Staff friendly and helpful. Good location for town centre.
Bathroom and general decor tired and bathroom very small.
The cosiness of the room Thick white towels
Shower that only had a trickle of warm water Bedroom was too cold
The friendliness of the staff and the facilities which were good for a two star hotel. The fresh fruit and biscuits and fresh coffee in the room were a welcome surprise . The breakfast was definitely value for money.
The restauraunt and bar
It was far too hot with no windows that would open. The noise from other guests kept us awake all night!!
Good price, 10% discount in good bar/restaurant on premises, nicely tarted up place, provided three pieces of fruit and small pack of biscuits (each day) and fresh coffee with cafetiere (once), fridge for use
Can't quite make up its mind to be a proper nice boutique-y place. Tiny narrow room - large suitcase barely fit into corridor in room. Many nice touches. Also threadbare carpet, dirty curtains, bedspread (not washed each time, I'm sure) placed directly over pillows where my head goes, paid wifi a bit flaky, TV poor signal, desk useless (couldn't get legs under desk when seated so very uncomfortable), didn't change sheets when I spilt coffee grounds on them, heating centrally controlled with no choice to change it.
The staff were helpful and friendly, the evening meal and breakfast were excellent.
The bathroom had been given a ‘makeover’ but looked unfinished decoratively. There was mould on the shower head and shower walls. The TV remote control was inoperable due to flat batteries.
Staff. Very Helpful.
Hotel parking very cramped. Bathroom and toilet tiny just like same in cross chanel ferry..
Staff were helpful and friendly
We had conformation of the hotel booking from Booking.com, however the booking did not make it to the hotel, therefore they were not expecting us.
Location, complimentary goodies, bar and restaurant and friendly staff.
The hotel was well situated and the staff friendly and helpful. The provision of fresh fruit was appreciated.
The hotel is in need of refurbishment. The decor is very dated. Everything looks as if it is needs a deep clean.
Location was 10 mins walk to Clifton, nice little reception/cafe area
Rooms could do with a renovation/decoration
The room size, bed, bedding & towels. Staff were very responsive to our needs and helpful.
Free Fruit in the rooms. Good Location Great Staff
Well located for the city and a greaqt bar downstairs.
This hotel is fantastic and very close to the centre.
The wifi could be free.
Comfortable room and good facilities. Free fruit and biscuits.
Parking is awful, so is the noise from the bar restaurant downstairs. Every morning and after closing they banged the empty barrels outside my ground floor window.
Locale, great room, warm and comfortable.
Very friendly and hospitable staff. Quiet location. Big clean room and fruits+coffee/tea for free. ~ 20 minutes by foot from Bus station and ~ 30-40 from railway station Temple Meeds. Highly recommend.
Little bit far from centre but also this location has a great advantage: from the hotel there is not a big distance to a symbol of the city - Suspension Bridge.
Cafettiere in the room and a good powerful shower. Staff were helpful after initial problems.
No record of our booking, first room allocated was damp and musty, second room was better but the bed was uncomfortable (could feel the springs). Dated furnishings and really in need of a refurbishment.
