Fresh fruit as well as tea/coffee in room, very friendly staff, great choice of breakfast options and high standard of breakfast.
No free WiFi even if not streaming you pay per hour, heating not good, room was so cold it was difficult to sleep
Good use of a small space to provide all facilities. Ground coffee and fresh fruit in room. Helpful and friendly staff.
Heating didn't come on in the morning.
The room was small, but it was a single room everything worked fine, it was only for one night. I will recommend the bar and the food. I stayed in there for about 4hrs very friendly atmosphere.
The staff were very professional, cheerful and lovely. The room was cleaned to it's best ability, however, refurbishment is required.
The room reminded me of a nursing home with strip lighting and poor quality mattress in a very small room. If you can't afford to improve the plastering then at least improve the mattress and lighting.
-The staff were friendly and helpful. -The food in the evening was great. -The room was nice with the fancy swan towel thing going on. -and there was complimentary Lint chocolate reindeer! YUM!
-It is christmas party time and we hadn't been warned of the parties taking place beneath our room. It ended at 11:30 which was reasonable. But a bit of warning would have been preferable due to a very important day ahead.
Location and staff
Dirty reception area, foul smell in restaurant, strong smell of disinfectant in corridors. No hot water in sink, grubby appearance overall. Very poor experience overall.
Location was perfect for where we needed to be early the next morning and the parking was also very close.
The marquee extension to the restaurant which was being used for Christmas parties, with loud music being played until after 11pm. The music did stop at a reasonable hour but we hadn't been warned and were there for my daughter's interview at 8.45 the next morning!
Liked the feel of the hotel very friendly
In need of redecoration
Very kind and very friendly. In the room they give you free coffee, te, biscuits and pieces os fruits and this was a really nice gesture. You have buses in the corner every 15 minutes and restaurants and shops 4 min walks.
When we arrived we moved the beds to a sifferent place in the room and we found a wallet under one of the beds. The carpet was dirty
Excellent location .
Smallest room and bathroom i've ever experienced . Worn out carpets, rotten window frames and a very weak shower . However , its cheap for such a convenient location.
Comfy bed Helpful staff
Limited car parking - doesn't say that on the booking website. Took me half an hour to find somewhere to park. Atrocious. Bed a little small for taller people (over six foot) Absolutely no sound insulation through window (could hear traffic all night)
The bed and the staff I met.
Cold shower and coffee mugs being sprayed with furniture polish or being cleaned with a polish cloth. If the latter where else had the cloth been used,
Staff were very pleasant
Standard of room - poor Bed and mattress were terrible, I managed to sleep for no more than 3 hours Smells like a kitchen throughout the hotel. Overall price for standard of room is ridiculous
Paintwork could do with a makeover!
Location. Early breakfast.
Young staff not fully trained. Building needs refurbishment. Both of these are management issues.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. There was fruit and biscuits with tea making facilities in the room.
The room had seen better days and could have done with updating. There was paint peeling from the ceiling and window, lots of chipped paintwork, old limescale where the shower door leaked, and the furnitire was dated. But it was all clean - just didn't look it! Parking cost an extra £6.50 per night which we weren't aware of, but they did let us leave the car there after check out whilst we went out for lunch. I would consider staying again as it suited us for location and was very relaxed.
The staff were very efficient and friendly, the restaurant very accommodating for a solo traveller. Continental breakfast was fantastic with local produce well done chef! Food exceptional in restaurant. Able to sit on breakfast bar as solo traveller and felt much more at home. Staff very friendly. Ate evening meal in cafe upstairs which had closed all to myself with the receptionist. Thank you enjoyable stay. Just small tweeks could make a difference like being honest about size of single rooms. Compact is an ok description for them as they are functional and single travellers are used to small rooms.
The single rooms were very small and the one I had the bed was on the outside wall and cold. The heating didn't come on during my stay so slightly colder early hours of the morning than I would have liked. Shower pods very compact but functional. The reception desk was in the cafe which made it feel a bit like hostel accommodation but the staff were really lovely and friendly so this made up for it.
location. Breakfast is very good.
no free wifi
Can't think of anything
Turned up at the hotel - No parking available. Hotel room was supposed to be an executive single. Seriously, a broom cupboard is how I would describe it. Plus price was excessive for what it was.
The bed was comfortable,
The dirt, the noise , the soiled bed covers , the tiny room , lumpy pillows . I couldn't wait to leave the place. Give me a good bnb rather than a reasonably priced hotel .
Food and bar
Well Priced, clean and comfortable.
No parking!!! No street parking!!!! I had to park 2 miles from the hotel. Noise level excessive. No free internet in this hotel. Narrow stairs. Cold breakfast.
Racks Bar and Restaurant Location
Heating in room was uncomfortably hot and on landing.
Provided a warm and comfortable base for visiting our daughter at University. Convenient location visiting central Bristol and Clifton. Attractive central Clifton is 15 minutes walk and in other direction Bristol city centre is about 20 minutes. SS Great Britain is 35 minutes.
Continuous sound from cooling fans or similar from Racks Bar or kitchen below. Excessive charges for WiFi at £2.50 for an hour when in most places it's free. No guaranteed parking, though roadside is possible.
