Location good, staff nice
Not very clean in corridoors etc. Beds OK just far too hot, could not breath when we entered the room, turned radiator off in bedroom and eventauuly cooled down but bathroom radiator could not be changed - burnt myself getting out of shower as so small in the bathroom
Staff were very friendly and helpful
If you like to go to bed early don't book this hotel. We had a room directly above the bar and the noise went on until about 3 am making it impossible to sleep. Even after the loud music was turned off people were talking loudly, singing, rubbish was being thrown out, etc. As a bare minimum I would suggest you ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. Bathroom was "grubby" and needed a re-vamp. Room was very cold in the night.
location room restaurant staff shower ambience
I stayed in Bristol 2 weeks to work at the University. The location of the hotel was perfect, quiet, and only 10 minutes walk away from uni & shops. Having a fridge in the room, as well as ground coffee and fresh fruits was great.
The room was very small, particularly since stayed 2 weeks, but it was cozy.
Location and breakfast. Friendly, helpful, great breakfast service and food.
Very small room, (but it was a single after all). Biggest issue for me was the late night guests who were not quiet coming and going from adjacent rooms at two/three in the morning. Very creaky floorboards in corridor and loud locks. Also could hear the televisions from both adjacent rooms each night. A bit tiresome.
perfect location for Clifton Village and Whiteladies Road. Helpful staff. Nice touches like a bowl of fruit in the room
Fruit bowls daily. Racks coffee
Room heaters will not work daily in the night and even with the continued reminders it was not helped. beds are not fully fit and able to feel the springs.
cost and location
Lovely hotel. Great location. Restaurant and bar very good. Would stay again.
Location was ideal
Uncontrollable heating and windows could not be opened due to street noise.
it did have parking. Staff were good, food was average, why are steaks so full of gristle?
OK it's not a modern hotel, but some of the decoration could be improved?
Customer service, very helpful and efficient lady on reception. Quirky atmosphere and period features. Shabby chic. Nice reception area.
Mold around the window panes and on the walls. Dirty toilet. Felt like waking up in a sauna it was so hot. Probably why the windows are full of condensation and mold. Huge potential, needs updating with new beds, windows, decor, efficient central heating etc.
I`ve stayed at this hotel twice in the past so had no hesitation in coming back for my third visit. I love the friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the staff are always on hand to help. The rooms are comfortable and very good value for the cost. I`m sure I will return on my next visit to Bristol.
Nothing I didn`t like.
Helpful and friendly staff. Pleasant well-furnished and spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities, including real coffee and cafettaire. Most comfortable bed and situated in a good location in Bristol.
Warm smiley welcome Jess was excellent and helpful. Hotel was warm friendly excellent location nice comfy room. Facilities were, for once, as described on Internet. With Full welcome tray- including fruit tea coffee biscuits. Fantastic value for money.
Only the walls were a bit dirty especially where one has to sleep. And there was a lack of what we call in the trade 'High dusting' Again too dusty too close to the bed.
Room was freezing despite heating being on and extra blankets... Found someone's dirty sock underneath the bed... Disgusting!! No light in shower and unable to see, had to shower with curtain open!! If you could call it a shower!!
Easy access to decent pub, dining facilities. Friendly staff
Executive room was like living in a broomstick cupboard. I was told they call it an executive room because they put a DVD player and radio in The room. Misleading!
good location, friendly staff, tea & coffee facilities with complementary fruit was an added bonus!
had to pay for wifi
Fire alarm at 6am Light bulbs broken Noisy room
Had an awful experience, had water coming through the ceiling in middle of the night, which set fire alarm off. Was moved to a different room which was awful. No space and very dirty. Went to breakfast and there were two dogs walking around the continental breakfast table. Went to bed that night to discover a horrible hairy bug in my bed. Contacted front desk where the assistant manager was and I have to say he was very good, he was going to change us to another hotel but there were none available as it was near Christmas, so we were forced to return home as we no longer wanted to stay. The manager took days to contact me, which I was disgusted with, she now has informed me they will not be giving any compensation for my damages which happened when the water went all over my phone ect..? Worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. Do not stay at this hotel.
Racks is very good with real ales, live sport, good food and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall good value for the money.
Rooms that I have stayed in have been basic even the last one which was called an executive suite. Having stayed here before I knew what to expect and having had a few real ales it did not matter. Rooms were clean. I will stay again.
Nice service and price.
The rooms aren't soundproof, I can hear others walking and opening doors in corridor clearly.
Bathroom was clean and decent shower, tea and coffee facilities good, nice biscuits! Location is good if you want to head out on foot to nearby bars and restaurants. Staff are nice and friendly. Room was fair price with discount but no more.
Beds were a bit sunken, didn't sleep great, particularly as there was often noise from corridor and other rooms late at night, not many courteous people seem to stay at this place. Slightly amusing was the back wall had been half painted in one colour and the other but left white - noticed in daylight! WiFi is also pricey for time given so didn't use. Wouldn't be happy if we had paid full price for this room rather than the discount.
Staff helpful and friendly. Good location in Clifton. Relatively cheap.
Room was dirty. Bathroom dirty and poorly maintained. Sinked was blocked and tissue paper and solids continued to come up through the plug.
Breakfast (when I was acknowledged) was nice.
Went to breakfast 10 mins early because I had to eat before 8am and was ignored by all the staff (receptionist told me to go down there). Bed was uncomfortable and had a horrible blanket. Room was very tiny and noisy over the bar at the side. Bathroom was too small. Wifi was not free.
