Staff was very friendly and helpful.
No Wifi in room, worked great in common areas though
Location and bar
Bed was shocking
Excellent service, really comfortable and friendly and clean. Would not hesitate to use again! :)
Close to kings cross station.
Beds were small in a 8-pax dorm. There wasn't much space and the locks were spoilt. The water from the bath was scalding hot too
-the breakfast - the kings cross area
the one problem in this hostel : THE LOCKERS (no lockers in the room and the corridor)
Breakfast Sight of so many young people The courtroom unchanged, in use as common room Breakfast
Wet floor in toilet
Good for having fun and meeting a lot of new people. Good for travelling with a big company of friends, but not for two))
Not good enough for sleeping if you're tired after long journey
Just as it says on the tin. Lots of backpacker-types in a converted court-house that's about 10 minutes walk from King's Cross- St Pancras. I had a train to catch at 4AM from St Pancras, and so thought it best if I stayed close to the station for the night.
You get what you paid for, mind you. I was in a 4-person dorm; the bunker-beds were so close to each other that you can't step between them. My bunker-bed was so high that I couldn't scale the ladder with my (admittedly heavy) backpack on my bag. I'm sure it's just me, but I have this expectation that you'd be able to jump from the top-bunker in a bunk-bed; that's just not possible here. Makes you feel that you've been arranged neatly on a bookshelf or something. I've seen shower-facilities in railway stations that are more homely than the ones here. I do realize they were going for that converted-courtroom decor, but it all feels so... transactional. Some warmer colours, a place to put your toiletries up in the shower cubicles would have been nice. So would a reading light and a plug-point on your bed. (I think they intended to put these up on each bed, because there was this huge hole for a socket close to my pillow) Also about the area: now, I chose to stay close to St Pancras and knew what to expect, but let it be known that the area is not for everyone; while it has significantly gentrified in the last 2-3 years, it still has its element of dodginess. I saw police chase thieves down, some drunken brawls and a few doors that smelled funny (read "weed"): all on par for a Friday night at King's Cross Road.
- atmosphere; - location
- room window and ventilation system
We stayed in a double room with a sink, mirror and shelves, so it was great. I loved the cinema room, the hostel pub and the overall theme of prison/court. The dining area was big.
Not enough public showers. The water in the shower lasted for maybe 10 sec, so it was annoying to keep pressing the button to keep it running. No proper coffee for breakfast, which was rather basic: cereals, milk, juice, tea. I would question hostel's security: anybody from the street could enter our ground floor room. Lockers were cheap, but not free.
Sure it's just a hostel. One should not expect too much. Still it was one of the worst hostels I've ever stayed in. Dark, cramped room. No space to move basicly. All the stuff lying around as the is no better place to put it. Many rooms located in the basement what makes it even more gloomy. After two days I've canceled my stay (of course there was no way to get a refund) and moved to a hotel. And was a relief that was...
Rooms are small
Nice and central location, friendly staff and some cool people. Fantastic little spot to crash
The toilets are a bit small and the shower button has to be repeatedly pressed which is annoying.
The place overall has a warm atmosphere and the staff is very loose and friendly. I dont think it could be any better than what it is really. Its certainly convenient to the train station, and food shopping is within striking distance. There is a big kitchen. Impt for me. Also breakfast, better than i expected.
The place, due to its sheer size, is a bit of a machine, but this is not a criticism, -just a property of the place. I can imagine masses of people here.
inconsiderate guests who were noisy all through the night and poorly (non) sound proofed rooms
nice staff, very good bar downstairs with reasonable prices, breakfast included, overall a nice stay if you don't plan to stay a lot of time in the room :)
smelly and extremely small rooms, no wifi connection in the rooms, lamps were not working, no lockers in the rooms
Was put in a tiny room with 4 guys despite requesting room with only girls. they did not let me know they didn't have any female rooms available, and i only found out when the men turned up as i was getting dressed. The staff changed my room but not without some rudeness on their part, as though i was really inconveniencing them. Otherwise, cold, sparse, and smokers gathered outside front door was off-putting. No sleep as there was a street light outside our window and no curtains or blinds. I've just travelled around china for two months, and those hostels were better.
A funky establishment with great facilities and rooms. Cheers.
A bit cramped for breakfast on weekends but very popular.
breakfast is awesome, nice vibe, decent location
no wifi in rooms, dorms are way too cramped, not enough showers
I liked that they had a great bar scene down stairs and that the subways and bus services were all reasonably close by to get into town.
it was a little difficult with Wifi only downstairs and the only thing i didnt like is although i was placed on a top bunk and requested to a bottom bunk i was told no just because people were moving into that bed later..... no one came that whole weekend.
The price was very reasonable, given the standard of accommodation. Wasn't too far from transport, staff were friendly and helpful, and beds were OK. Travel shop was an added bonus!
Toilets and showers could have been cleaner
Noisy fellow guests shouting in corridors at 1am
I was in the female bird nest dormitory room. The location was really great, very close to the city centre. The price was one of the lowest and you also get breakfast for free. The staff was helpful and nice.
There were some mistakes in the bed location in my room. Many girls took the wrong beds and then had to move. This happened 4 times during my stay and it happened in the late night, when I wanted to sleep!! Also many guest moved in really late (i.e. 1AM), which I found really horrible. I didn`t have a lot of sleep here. Also the smell of the room was pretty weird.
