You can't explain an ambience but boy did cliveden have one. The main hall with stunning period features, not to mention the beautiful views. If you want a real treat. Look no further. The spa is the finishing touch.
the staff were very good, location & hotel grounds & history is fantastic
our room had a smell of cleaning products & the carpet was wet from what seemed like a cleaning material. we discussed with checkout & they gave us a discount so were fine in the end. the women on reception handled very well & we were happy
The reception area and the restaurant
The rooms need a coat of good paint. It is understood it is a very old and indeed listed building but that's no excuse for a £600 a night room not to be in tip top condition
The main Restaurant food is Excellent, The size of the Rooms and suites in the main house are quite good. It's a good place to go to if you need to relax during the day and then enjoy a good meal in the evening.
I will be looking forward to seeing all the larger rooms and suites after their refurbishment, I hope they maintain the correct balance of old country house / and five star hotel, my opinion is that all tv,s in the rooms should be hidden inside a lovely antique cabinet with space for a small fridge also.
Excellent room in an historic property with superb facilities
Above our expectation it was part of our anniversary treat. I would definitely come back with our little daughter, there's much to do here for children as well. It's 40 min away to London by train.
Hard to find a cap but the hotel has got the facility of a driver.
The location Stunning grounds Beautiful building Great food
Poor and inattentive service Inexperienced bar team
The setting is just glorious but probably not at it's best on a very busy Sunday. Our room was very authentic and a pleasure to be on the first floor of the main house. Here is the but, it will be much much better after it's refurb early next year. Breakfast was very enjoyable and of a very high quality.
Room was worn and we suffered a couple of minor glitches due to the busy- ness of the Sunday we chose to stay.
The exceptionally well trained, respectful and willing staff. Faultless dining experience.
What didn't we like! Absolutely wonderful!
The service. The food. The bed. The hot tubs. The ambience. A good wine list, sensibly priced in each dining area.
Accommodation is really a little too expensive, especially when not air conditioned. The brasserie ought to stretch to a sirloin or ribeye as standard fare ( although they kindly snitched a couple of fillets from the main dining room menu at £50 each....)
Staff mixture of poor to excellent
We have a small baby and staff were helpful and accommodating throughout. Fantastic food in the main restaurant. Nice views and good pools.
Club room maybe could do with sprucing up, it lacked a bit of atmosphere when we went in the day. Maybe have another person on reception at busy times.
Friendly, quirky staff. Elegant and luxurious rooms. Wonderful walks down to the river and around the gardens.
Wonderful location and great staff. Michael the concierge was so lovely to us, as was Andre in the Club House. Made us feel very welcome, and the children loved it whilst I managed to have some grown up time. What a place! Lovely memories.
A wonderful hotel, my last stay here was about 20 years ago. That was excellent and has lived in the memory but I think everything has improved since. Service, facilities and staff were first class and the meal in the Andre Garrett restaurant was sublime.
The price but, even saying that, i think it was good value for what we received.
Lovely grounds and beautiful setting. Restaurant food was excellent.
Pricey. Probably not great value for money considering.
Impressive and historic building, lovely staff. Our renovated room in the stable wing was very comfortable and well-appointed. The champagne cruise on the Thames was superb, as was the spa with its glorious heated outdoor pool and hot tubs.
Very, very expensive one-night stay. The breakfast was average, cooked food whilst good was charged as an extra. Odd bits are a little shabby.
Driving up to the front door and staying in a stately home with excellent food. Walking around the grounds, down to the river.
What an experience, absolutely faultless. Staff supberb, room stunning! Dinner was absolutely divine, and what a setting. Can't wait to go again.
Location, location, location. Great walking opportunity around the grounds. Excellent food.
River cruise with lunch Dinner at Andre' The accommodations The atmosphere The overall experience
Cocktail and coffee service in the evening and morning respectively was slow in the great room (lobby). On each occasion, I had to get up to ask someone to serve me. Even then, it took longer than anticipated to serve the order. In the morning (Sarurday), I also observed another couple that had to get up and find a person for coffee service, despite the numerous staff walking through the great room (lobby).
We were looked after well from the moment we arrived until we left.
