Dinner menu was too gastronomic for us

Everything was wonderful. It lived up to all our expectations and more. The staff were exceptional nothing was too much trouble . The setting is spectacular and the house itself magnificent.

Upgraded our room to a suite as it was my partners birthday. Great Spa facilities and excellent staff.

Being overcharged by £50 but after calling the hotel this was removed.

The venue is incredible - stunning old house in beautiful grounds

3* experience at 5* prices. The staff are overly formal, making our stay uncomfortable, but without the high quality of service you would expect from somewhere of that standard - it was a little Fawlty Towers-esque. Our first room had a problem with the plumbing, our second room was next to the noisy kitchen, and was so cold we needed two heaters brought in to heat the room - that shouldn't be necessary at a place of that price The spa is hardly a spa - it's a pool with a sauna and steamroom in the changing room. The steamroom didn't even have any steam in it! We were unable to get into the casual dining restaurant on the night of our stay, so had to eat from a very basic menu in the lobby. We ordered a fairly pricey bottle of wine from the very extensive winelist, which included wines of up to £3000. Our chosen bottle was a 2008 vintage, but we were brought a 2010 by the sommelier. When challenged, we were told that as it was Christmas, they weren't really sure of what they had in the cellar. If you have a sommelier, and a winelist with wines of that price, you should know what you have - 2010 could have been a better year than 2008, but it could also have been much worse. We ordered champagne breakfast to the room - they forgot the champagne. They also forgot a couple of the food items. All in all, it was not a comfortable or luxurious stay, despite the price.

Spa facilities and amazing gardens.

The interiors were shabby, holes in the upholstery, some stains, wallpaper has seen better times, warped furniture - and that was in deluxe room we were upgraded too! However, at the rate I has I would happily go there again.

Wunderschön gelegen mit tollen Ausblicken in den Park/ins Land (der Park wird durch den National Trust gepflegt), geschichtsträchtiger Ort mit illustrer Gästeliste, schöne, stilvolle, große Zimmer, große und gute Betten, Spa im Walled Garden mit wunderbarem Blick aufs Haus/auf den Uhrenturm, gutes Essen/sehr gute Getränkeauswahl, insgesamt sehr angenehmer, großer Luxus.

Das Hauspersonal war fantastisch, die Kellner waren sehr höflich, aber nicht unbedingt freundlich. Der Wasserdruck war teils gering wegen alter Leitungen. Aufgrund der Preise bleibt der Aufenthalt für mich nur sehr besonderen Anlässen vorbehalten. Vielleicht in einigen Jahren wieder, ich freue mich jetzt schon.

The fact that we were given a lovely room despite the fact we had our dog (normally you are given the most miserable room in a hotel because of this). The staff were more than helpful and very attentive to detail.
