Location easy for stations, city centre and sightseeing. Full English breakfast tasty. reasonable priced hotel.
Room small for a twin
The staff we spoke to were excellent
The electric shower wasn't working properly
The full English breakfast was good,
The rooms are drab and depressing, as are the bathrooms. Dark blue and brown bed linen is not a good choice
Good food, friendly staff. Comfortable room
Lack of nearby parking and the narrow staircases make it difficult to get luggage in.
Price. Excellent breakfast menu Reasonable room for price
clean & not far from town
hard mattress shower quite small
breakfast good. staff pleasant. central location, close to station and town. comfortable accommodation.
On street parking - a lottery. No evening meals available, but town is close by. Prefer a bath. no lift (but old building)
Location, and the bed was comfortable
Staff and breakfast
Beds old and low could do with new beds.
All available activities and museums.
No lift and no one to help with luggage. I am 62 years old and it was hard.
I booked at very short notice and the staff were accommodating when I changed the date. This was an old-fashioned family-feel B&B. The breakfast was lovely and the room charming. I was able to stay in a family room with my 3 children.
When we arrived, we had to wait nearly 10 mins for a member of staff to turn up. The bathroom was tiny - a very small shower and toilet with the sink in the main room. The room was a bit musty smelling but when the windows were open, the noise of the traffic through the night was too loud. The bed was not too comfortable and we all slept badly. Be aware that the soundproofing was not good, people walking on the floor above could be heard clearly.
breakfast, although cereals or continental would ideally be in a buffet style.
aged and stale odours from old smoke tainted furnishings, drapes and carpets. Unable to open windows to refresh the room.
Very good location. Clean. Staff were very nice.
The WiFi cut in and out a lot. Room was directly above smoking area outside so when window was open it stank the place out.
Breakfast and employes. The newspapers.
The mattress and the washbasin
Great location close to Central station and all shops restuarants.
Lack of customer service
Good breakfast, handy location, good fast wifi. Very good value.
Facilities fairly basic, room quite small, nobody around after 10pm at all! Bit noisy at night - sound travels.
Staff were very good. Breakfast was good. Location was good.
Small double for the children rather than 2 singles which we didn't like. Children didn't sleep well. A lot of noise from rooms above and beside us. None of us slept very well and were glad we only had 1 night there.
The best things for me was the location as was right in the centre but away from the noise too..... Also the beds were very comfortable.
The breakfast was average but being asked by the owner, to leave your table as soon as you finished eating I found to be very rude. The reason for this was so that her staff could clean up quickly and finish shift. If you still have tea or coffe to drink then you must finish it on the couch in reception!!!! So if you like a relaxed breakfast in the morning then don't go here!!! Also our room was room 1.... Which was on the ground floor right next to the front door.... So if your hoping for a good nights sleep then steer clear of this room!!!!
It was good to be able to have a lot of choice about what to have for breakfast. My bedroom was comfortable and bright and the TV was good too. I made it my little home from home for four nights.
The difficult to close and open the windows and turn off the cold tap. The actual shower area could not have been smaller and the extraction system in that area was unnecessarily loud.
Everything is Fantastic. I have stayed in Hotels all over the country. The Clock Tower is THE BEST. The staff are GREAT.
Rooms very clean and Pauline very helpful and friendly.
I booked the hotel thinking it would be a friendly family hotel in fact it felt very impersonal and corporate with not particularly friendly staff. On reflection would have been better with a Travel Lodge etc. The young man on reception incredibly unhelpful and obstructive. We were trying to get to a funeral and were running very late (due to traffic and certainly not his problem) However he was incredibly unsympathetic and disinterested, insisting that we pay on arrival despite having our bags and credit card details so no danger of going without paying. When we came to check out it turns out that he hadn't even bothered to create a receipt for me. So it had to be emailed to my account. We were rushed through breakfast, my elderly mother hadn't finished her grapefruit before the cooked breakfast was put on the place mat in front of her. Cooked breakfast was very definitely microwaved. We were asked to move tables when we were still finishing our drinks at 9:15 when breakfast was not supposed to finish until 9:30. The double rooms are on the small side and the double bed very small.
Comfy beds. Excellent choice of breakfast. Pleasant & helpful staff. Close to city centre.
For 2 seventy yearolds the 50 stairs to the room was a bit too much
Avaiable car park.
Double bed was far from double size, disnt really sleep during the two nights we spent there partly bacause of the bed being too small and partly because of the lout seagulls/traffic noises from outside. The shower cubicle again is in lack of space, found it difficult to turn around without hit sime part of my body somewhere eg. Sharp edge of shower unit. Ps. I am smaller than the averege british so it is not the case of beig too big for everything.
